I feel like if they brought back a store slightly bigger than the KB Toys stores they would be fine. Their scale was way to big for this retail environment.

There's no feeling greater than walking into TRU and finding a fresh peg loaded with the figure you came for. Lookin' at you NS AJ. I dont like AJ Styles with long hair and DMX-style entrance music, so I dont own any of his Mattel figures, but I regret passing on that figure.

I heard about this on Fox And Friends and what I can see is Toys "R" Us is gonna try to make the new stores into toy outlets to be found at outlet centers like KB Toys did when they bought Toy Liquidators but I think Toys "R" Us is gonna become a mail order catalog for toys like Montgomery Ward is now doing with their stores. But if you recall Toys "R" Us teamed up with Albertson's and had a section in Osco Drug Stores as well as the Sav-On Drug Stores called Toys "R" Us Toybox and turned the toy section into a mini TRU and it was a smart idea but it failed when Save Mart Supermarkets and Safeway brought Albertson's but I do think if TRU becomes a mail order catalog it will be a great idea Doctorwhofan

I loved TRU, but I think a lot of us are looking back at them with rose tinted glasses. The largest one near where I lived was the Metro Centre. It was always dirty, most of the staff could not be bothered to help you and the prices were ridiculous. That store just got worse and worse until the day it was closed.
It will be interesting to see what happens with this because they owed a lot of people a lot of money when they went out of business.

I can put up with a staff that doesn't give a crap, but I can't put up with 20% markup on everything for no good reason.
Maybe it's a direct effect of being located in a major city/prime spot.

Is this just in the US? I'd be happy to see TRU back in the UK. They went away in the UK too? I thought it was only in US? Nothing changed in Germany at least.

Depends on the locations, the ones I’ve been to were just as great as they have always been.

So were looking at something the size of KB? Eh, I guess it's something. Not the same though. But maybe if this actually happens and it's a success the regular stores could come back one day?

I hope it works out. 10,000 sq ft seems like a good size. From what I read online, the average mall KB was 3500-5000 sq ft and Toy Works were 15,000 sq ft.
