They've now taken the iconic, 'Toys R Us' header off mine - due to construction starting - it's being split into a UFC gym and a supermarket... so after 30 odd years, it's officially gone. Makes me sad.

I think we are all supportive of a TRU comeback, but I'm not getting too excited. First off, it simply may not happen. Nothing is set in stone just yet. Second, it will most likely be awhile before it happens if it does. Like, 2 or 3 years would be my guess. And finally, most old TRU locations are already occupied by another store. So the chances of any opening near any of us are slim. Of course, they have to open up somewhere and some of us will get lucky. But a lot of us will have to travel out of state just to find one.
All that said, bring it on! I started collecting right after TRU shut down, so I never got to experience the joy of figure hunting there.

What I think Toys "R" Us is hoping to do is try to revive itself but this time be featured in malls around the country. As they tried to do during the holidays in 2010 with the Toys "R" Express chain of holiday toy stores that were gonna be successful but failed when they realized that Toys "R" Us couldn't work in a holiday toy store format. But I think as I mentioned if Toys "R" Us had opened more stores in shopping centers in small cities instead of focusing on big cities they would still be successful today. Take for example in California besides Los Angeles and the Southern California cities Toys "R" Us had opened more stores there while in the Bay Area San Jose and the other cities Toys "R" Us was opening up stores there. But in the Monterey Bay Area I was surprised to see that Santa Cruz had a Toys "R" Us other than Salinas but I never understood why TRU was never opened in Monterey or planned to open a store in Marina because it would've been a huge hit. But just like Woolworth's and Montgomery Ward and Children's Palace a store can try to come back but it won't be the same Doctorwhofan Most malls have become ghost towns. Especially toy stores in the mall. KB Toys is proof of that. I highly doubt TRU will try to shack up in any malls. That would be a first class ticket to Bankruptcy. Definitely not. All they really need to do is stop charging more $ for everything than every other store in existence. Thats why they shut down. No one was going there anymore for anything unless they absolutely had to. Their only hope is to charge Walmart/Target prices for their stuff. If they do that then everyone will flock there.

Cool, hopefully they stock some WWE. TRU here in australia was average at best when it came to WWE. I remember a TRU in Sydney was packed in mid 2009 when WWE came to Australia, it was like heaven for me at the time, they had Deluxe Sets, RA, CS, CS 2-packs, the old school WrestleMania authentic scale ring among other things. Some of it was older stuff, but still a pretty good selection all around. Maybe i was just too used to my towns selection and thought this was a gold mine. From memory, i got these - Deluxe 7 Sabu - Hulk & Andre Classics 2-pack - Classic Mania Authentic Scale Ring Agreed, they were much better when Jakks has the licence, but in the most recent years of Mattel - it was hot garbage. At least that was my experience

The closest TRU will ever come back is those small pop up TRU stores around Christmas that will have elites from 9 months prior and a random old store exclusive shelf warmer wave.
