Anyone else just cringe while watching old WWF Superstar episodes? Like do you ever wonder if as an adult could you sit thru it? The babyface promos I think make me cringe the most....Everyone single thanks the fans for their support,,,,just pay attention when Virgil Crush or Tito give a promo...It just made me roll my eyes and think....god how did I watch this as a kid. Thoughts?

I agree, I can not watch the current product...The one thing I do miss about old school wrestling,,,is storylines....No one has a reason for fighting anymore....

Nostalgia plays a big factor in watching the 1992 WWF Superstars on the Network right now. It's mainly just squash matches, and you were lucky to get two main guys competing against each other. But it was awesome when I was 11 years old watching it, so it's still awesome now.

Nope the only thing I cringe at is the current product.
Nostalgia does play a part in it and the old days may not be full of competitive matches with "big stars" but it progresses the programming on the right course and builds each wrestler and towards each event in a logical way - I could watch this everyday of the week as opposed to the 30 minute promos that I cant recall what was said the moment it ends, hotshot angles, bailed pushes, build (for a week) then bury approach that is todays product.

Some of them are Cheezy as heck for sure, but its still the nostalgia part of it for me. i can watch those episodes all day over todays stuff. only prob i have watching old wrestling is mind is going so much faster from todays world/movies/wrestling/ufc that old wrestling almost seems like slow motion for me.

Not at all. Those and the ones from the 80s were the best ever. Watch the PPV hype segments with Mean Gene. They get you pumped even for a Virgil vs Nailz match! They need more "Event Center" type things.

Everything is perfect about these episodes, short interviews and matches, when you can see the finishing move of each superstars. I dont know most of the current superstars finishing moves ! I like the look of the arena. The only thing that i hate , is when they changed the music or blur the logo. Thanks god i have these shows from 84 to 92 on dvds. I dont see myself having fun with a network version of the shows from 84 to 87 when music were radio hits, thats why it called the rock and wrestling era, cant watch an episode without billymocean, michael jackson or phil collins songs on these showd. 1992 is ok.

SOOO well said about the music. I miss the "obsession "SNME music for the beginning. That WAS part of the show for. Those little beginning talk parts then right into the music was my greatest wrestling moments ever. about to watch some KICK butt matches for free on a sat night!

I tried to get my kid into wrestling for awhile and it was just ok to him. We’d watch some classic SNME or PpV and he’d get into it while we were watching. With The new stuff he would keep saying this is boring, or why do they talk so much? If we watched a current PPV I honestly think the constant reveresals, not selling moves (it doesn’t sink in to the crowd unless you sell it) and crappy camera work turns him off to it. The video packages take 5 min, then the entrances take 5 min, by then he’s already over it (and so am I)
Now we watch SuperStars in order, and throw in coliseum videos from the time frame we are watching. He can’t get enough of it. He’s so invested in the storylines
Warrior/Shango Nailz/Bossman Undertaker/Berzerker The debut of Crush and his promo vids Tatanka/Martel Macho/Flair Repo Man/Bulldog. Mountie and his shock stick Bret/Shawn
He loves Repo Man and hates him at the same time lol. We watched the Repo Cam on a coliseum video and was so in to it. He popped hard when Kamala finally got a strike while he was bowling!

But it was awesome when I was 11 years old watching it, so it's still awesome now. Without jobbers and squash matches, there would be no stars. Nowadays everybody is a .500 wrestler jobbing to each other.

You aren't seeing everyone lose all the time like u say. I know it will never go back to that, but I wouldn't mind. I barely watch current stuff but didn't Ryback and Strowman get over against jobbers. If so, proof that it still works today. PPVs would be more meaningful, house shows too like the old days, TV ratings?

Not at all! It was such a great time to be a fan. It was storytelling and showcasing at its finest. Guys like Virgil and Tito were made to look like superstars, even though they had a sketchy win loss record.
I loved the squash match format. It highlighted the skill set of the real stars and kept the more competitive matches for the PPV’s, which in turn made them must see shows. As much as I liked the attitude era, a lot of the ppv’s from that time almost felt like they were designed to set up the next episode of Raw, rather than being the culmination of a long blistering feud.

I just got my hands on the complete years of 1993 - 1995 WWF Superstars about two years ago, and I went through them so quickly. I loved it!
Once the WWE Network throws those years up on the site, I will watch them again without hesitation!

I have the majority of episodes from 86-97 in my collection but man I'd watch em in HD quality in a heartbeat.
