I've heard so many polarizing opinions on Bret/HBK from WrestleMania 12. I've even heard people say that it's the most "overrated classic match" in WWE history. I personally thought it was great because they stayed entertaining throughout with their magnificent pure wrestling. I gave it ****3/4
As for Brock/Angle- I thought the match could've been a PPV main event on a "Big 4". The only gripe that I have on Angle/Lesnar is that I wasn't entertained until the last 10 minutes (but, that's just me). The buildup to the last 10 minutes was excellent- but, there were a few parts where I kind of lost interest. Overall, a great match, but not a classic to me. ****1/2
What are your thoughts on both matches? I'm usually not a fan of 60+ minute matches

Rock vs. Triple H, Angle vs. Lesnar, Triple H vs. Benoit.... all classics and entertaining.
Reason being that there were falls taking place in those 60 minutes. It didn't feel long, it felt fun, and was entertaining.
Bret vs. HBK (who are two of my favourite wrestlers) is easily my least favourite match. Well, no. My second least favourite, I really hate that HIAC match with Triple vs. HBK. But if Bret and HBK had gotten some wins over each other in that match at Wrestlemania XII, then it probably would be looked upon as a better and more entertaining match today.

I mentioned Angle/Brock & Shawn/ Bret is because they have polarizing opinions. The other Iron-Man matches you listed are all classics! Speaking of Cell matches, a lot of them put me to sleep, to be honest.

The Bret Shawn iron man match was pretty dull IMO.
there were decent spots in it but for me not enough to justify a one hour plus match.
I felt the finish was a bit rushed as well. Not that I wanted to see them go for a long time in overtime, but it felt a bit cheap finishing it within a couple of minutes. Would have been much better with a few falls within the main body of the match and having Michaels get the decisive fall with five minutes to go and have Hart batter him until the bell but ultimately not get the equalising pin.

I don't remember Angle/Brock so I can't comment on it. As for Bret/Shawn I really enjoyed it. The fact that they didn't have any falls made it different from all others, kind of made it their own - unique. Plus the two were evenly matched so it kind of made sense. Plus, from what I've heard in shoot interviews they were looking to do a rematch at WM13 that may have been one of the reasons they only had one fall and it came after the 1 hour period, and they did the sudden death round at the event (in any other iron man match, if the falls counts were tied the champion would retain the title) that way Bret could say that Shawn shouldn't have won the title helping to set up a rematch. Though, that went out the window with Shawn losing his smile (or being injured) and not wanted to job to Bret.

I liked the actual “60 minute Iron Man match” a lot. It was very entertaining from the start to the first finish. But I found the ending very much insulting our intelligence to fit their story. The match was a 60 minutes Iron Man match. After 60 minutes it was a draw plain and simple just like any other time limit draw in wrestling history. There was no mention of a stipulation that if it ended in a draw they would have to go to sudden death so to have Gorilla come out and restart the match was a pretty lame way to have the title change hands.

I didn't mind Bret/Shawn but yeah I gotta agree with PJ the draw ending leading to sudden death was lame. The only positive I can say about the ending is it planted the seeds to Bret's classic heel turn a year later as you can see how frustrated he is when the match is restarted and after he loses. Angle/Brock I liked better as there was points on the board and it had better pacing. My personal favorite iron man of all time is Rude/Steamboat from Beach Blast 92.

Plus, if they were just going to let it go to overtime, then Bret shouldn't have had to let go of the Sharpshooter, also giving Bret something to be upset with. Yeah, those two had great chemistry together. Other than Sting, these two were big reasons why I tuned into WCW in the early 90s.

hated bret/shawn iron man match. no falls til the end was boring esp for a WM match! needed to be like steamboat/rudes match and many falls each.
angle/brock was good.

Bret vs Shawn was boring for the most part. I'm sorry.
Angle vs Lesnar was great.

Bret/Shawn was so loooong, back in the day long matches were ENTERTAINING, even at 45 minutes min you were excited. There SHOULD have been falls/submissions, honestly. Bret gets in the sharpshooter making Shawn tap, Shawn gets in the sweet chin music boom and pins him. You could've even had a 1-1 tie, and still have "sudden death" (makes me wonder if that was Bret's idea with his love for hockey).

I thought HBK vs Bret was a snore to be honest. It kicked into gear for the last 10 minutes and was excellent but mostly meh. The ending to me made HBK look like a waster...couldn't beat him in 60 minutes and only did it after Hart was ordered back to the ring and looked distracted an unprepared.
HHH vs Rock, Rude vs Steamboat & Angle vs Lesnar were dramatic heated affairs buoyed on by the multiple falls.

yeah WM12 main event was kinda disappointing, lots of rest holds (who can blame em really)
it would have been better if they had a draw with points scored anyways...
the best iron man match is the Steamboat Vs Rude 1992 title match, was half the time and they made the scoring points frigging awesome. the more i watch the network and old WCW ppv's the more you realise WWE pretty much copied them from day 1

Maybe it's me but I didn't think that wm12 match dragged on or was boring. If I remember when I was watching live on ppv I was surprised how quick the hour went.
