I can't help but wonder, if Mike Vick was still on the roster; would DeAngelo Hall have been traded? I think it's a good possibility that he'd still be there.

Well, if Vick was still on the roster, Petrino would still be there. Either way, I am glad Hall is gone. He's a selfish prick who isn't quite as good as he thinks he is.

Why would he be pissed? He's still their #1 corner, and he has to know that with both of them in that defensive backfield they're a force.

Because instead of signing him to that kinda deal, they franchised him, no one likes being franchised. You would know that, but you jsut started watching football, so its okay

Getting franchised generally means that your getting big time money next year......

Per PFT.
I'd prefer they keep him for anything less than a 3rd rounder, but meh.

Getting franchised generally means that your getting big time money next year...... Unless theres an injury or like some teams, franchise the same guy twice. Its not guaranteed.

Getting franchised generally means that your getting big time money next year...... Look at how Asante Samuel, Lance Briggs, etc. reacted to it... Most players do NOT like being franchised. Being franchised means that you're only on contract for one year - if you get hurt during that year, you have no other guaranteed money for the rest of your career.

Well i wouldn't put it past Al Davis to do it,but i don't think he would or or will do it.He'll get big money next year either way.To be honest i think it comes down to how JaMarcus Russell does next year if he does 'okay' i think Ashmougah will choose to resign with Oakland. If Russell is shitty i think he's gone, and if he gets tagged again he'll refuse to play.

And no, he wont automatically get big money because if he gets hurt OR has a bad season...he's ed. Do you not understand the problem with franchise tags? I do agree the Raiders will be better, as will Russell, but he wont become a Pro Bowler next year especially with Javon Walker and a class of clowns in the backfield

When has Javon Walker been healthy/worth that insane contract he was worth? Not to mention, as a #1...thats downright scary. They lost Jerry Porter too.

Where did Porter go? Javon was supposed to be on scale with some of the elite Wide outs in the NFL when he was brought into Denver but...........that didn't happen. He had a 'decent' year when we still had Plummer, but when Jake got the axe he never developed chemistry with Jay.And had serious problems staying healthy. He's a decent #2 reciever when he's healthy.

I agree that I think he'll be OK, but I'm just saying, injuries aren't unprecedented in today's NFL. If I were perceived to be a premier player, I'd want guaranteed money and a contract that lets me know I'll have somewhere to play in 2009.

Porter went to Jacksonville, no one is talking about Denver, calm down.
Walkers knees are put together with bubble gum and glue, there is 0% chance he plays all 16 games this year, let alone for 4 years

Javon Walker got a Negroplasty, so his knees are made of a transexual's testicles.

Being franchised means that you're only on contract for one year - if you get hurt during that year, you have no other guaranteed money for the rest of your career. Thats the big downfall and why players dont want the tag. Yes, they get 1 year of big bucks. But they could be out of the league the next. Or if they are injured, their stock falls and they may have to sign for less money. If they were allowed to pursue free agency before the tag, they could have gotten the better end of a downside guarantee. So while, I see why they have the tag.....its completely unfair to the player. There should be some sort of clause in the contract that would prohibit the tag and allow for some sort of negotitation with the current team. That would protect both sides.

In fairness, though, the NFLPA agreed to the franchise tag; so teams have every right to use it.
