Calvin Johnson is unreal. I have no doubt that he's going to be good. In all seriousness, Calvin Johnson is the 2nd most talented WR in the NFL right now. Kevin Smith is awesome, too. I have man-love for random skill position players in the Lions . But their offensive and defensive lines are GARBAGE. That's always been their problem, and it will continue to be their problem until they fix it.

Its preseason, stats, especially defensive stats are meaningless. Half the guys the Lions were sacking and what not, will be bagging groceries or making porn next week

Its not like we had startes sacking non-starters. It was our 2-3rd string vs. theirs. I think this pre-season also shows how bad the Patroits would be without a few starters.

It's been reported that Chad Johnson has finally legally changed his last name to "Ocho Cinco."

Barely anyone played this preseason, dont get defensive when I rain on your parade its the truth. The Lions arent dominant, because they go 4-0 in the most useless time in all of professional sports.

No it doesn't. Barely anyone played this preseason. Thats what i was saying, If it weren't for those few starters they wouldn't be a winning team. Your not raining on anyones parade, We are the Lions. I'm hoping for a 9-7 season while most fans are hoping there team will win the Superbowl. (Cowboys, Chargers, Patriots, Colts) How many teams have won it all after going 0-4 in the Pre-Season? 1. I would be a little worried. If the Patriots don't get it done in the next 2 years it will be awhile before they are back in the hunt. The team is old, and no one can deny it,

And you say thats showing how good they would be without starters, well, they do have them. And if they didn't they would find someone bettter than their 2nd/3rd string players.

The Patriots haven't gone better than 2-2 in the pre-season since 2003... And they've won their division every year.

No team other than the 83 Skins have gone winless in preseason and then go onto win the Super Bowl. BUT.....Patriots do like to go against history. Seriously, that's such a random stat... Almost as random as the ridiculous ones involving Brett Favre's performances in different weather that John Madden seems to throw out every Sunday. Quite frankly, it does not matter AT ALL who wins a pre-season game. It just doesn't matter. If the Patriots wanted to win a pre-season game, they'd put in Tom Brady and Randy Moss in the 2nd half of the 4th pre-season game and watch them connect for a touchdown EVERY PLAY. NFL head coaches have the ability to win a pre-season game at any time. By playing their starters against the opposing team's reserves, they can usually pretty much dominate a game -- but guess what, contrary to what they say to the media, most head coaches don't really give a damn about who wins in the pre-season. Pre-season records from 2004-2007:Indianapolis - 4-13 New England - 7-9 ... And they win their divisions EVERY year.

Typical me has to throw in a Steelers fact. 9-7 for the Steelers from 04-07 in Pre Season. And we went to the playoffs 3 out of those 4 years. Granted the season we won the Super Bowl, we went into the playoffs 2nd place in the division but in Pre-Season we still went 3-1. My point? It does not matter how you do in pre-season really. You can have a losing record like the Pats and Colts over the last 4 years, or a winning record like Pittsburgh and New York Giants (also 9-7) over the last 4 years. What matters is what you do in the official season. And look...2 with winning records, 2 with losing records. All 4 have won the Super Bowl these last 4 years. Meh.

my dream superbowl would be the Lions vs. the Patriots I've been ultra impressed with Detroit in the pre-season. Whether or not it means anything...its still 4 games of football. Being 100% successful in those 4 games is a good boost of confidence that an abysmal Lions team has needed. If Kitna can stop with the Interceptions and the offensive line can give him a smidge more protection this year they could at least do something. I'm hoping for a playoff spot, but im not getting "excited" for it...we'll see where they are at 8 games in.

I think we'll be fine without Osi. Obviously it would've been great to have him, but i'm satisfied with Kiwanuka and Tuck at DE. We'll still have one of the best pass rushes in the league. And reading this thread makes me laugh sometimes. I love how nobody can give the Giants credit for winning the Superbowl, instead saying they are "over-achievers". They had their injuries like every team during the season and had alot of rookies on the field, and once they started to gel together, towards the END of the season, that's when it all came together and they outplayed everyone in the playoffs. And whether you like to admit it or not, they beat the out of the Patriots in the Superbowl, Brady had never been hit like that and they made that offensive line look like a joke. It was a great game and very close, but the Giants definately outplayed them and deserved to win. It's fine to predict that they won't make the playoffs, when the Pats beat the Rams they didn't make the playoffs the next season. Obviously I hope they do make the playoffs, but it's not unheard of for a team that made the Superbowl to miss the playoffs the next year, it happens. But hey, it should be a fun season and we'll see how everything unfolds.

Thats fine, that's what everybody said last year and they ended up beating some of the best teams in the playoffs, and then beating the 18-0 Patriots.
It is definately possible that they won't make the playoffs, that division is tough, but i'm not one to count my team out before the season even starts.
