Straight off Starcade 1997, Sting has restored faith into the WCW after the defeat of Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Sting managed to pull off the win in a dramatic back and forth. (This timeline Bret Hart doesn't debut till much later in WCW). Hollywood Hogan would claim this as nothing but a fluke. And WCW superstars would still be untrusting in Sting's intentions. As well as not believing in Sting as the man to lead the charge against the NWO. None the less at NWO/WCW Sold Out 1998, Sting would defeat Hollywood Hogan in a rematch that would feature, Eric Bischoff as the Ref. Hollywood Hogan's chase for the title would lead to many things splitting the NWO up. Hollywood Hogan would seem to hog the spotlight of the NWO. The NWO would be split upon faith in Hogan/Loyalty and others opposed. Randy Savage would become Sting's new 1# contender, only for Hogan to forcefully make Savage surrender the right to Hogan as he is the leader of the NWO. This would create division, many seeing Savage as the man to lead the NWO. Sting and Hogan would face off, one more final time at Superbrawl with Sting defeating Hogan in a gruesome steel cage. Sting would continue to prove points to his fellow WCW superstars, and it would create a central issue with Ric Flair. Flair saw himself as the leader of the charge, and saw Sting as weak. But, Sting himself would compare Flair to being one of the failures of WCW's decline against the NWO. At Uncensored 1998, Sting would defeat Flair. But, Sting trying to make peace would not get his way with Flair. And the two men would continue fighting after the match, ending with Sting battering Flair with his bat. Flair would be taken out of action, after being beat by pulp by Sting. Meanwhile, Randy Savage would try to change Bischoff's mind with Hollywood Hulk Hogan ''retiring''. Hogan's unexpected leave, would raise many eyebrows in the NWO. Randy Savage would have to put it to the test teaming with his fellow stablemates Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Scott Steiner in a winning effort against Lex Lurger, DDP, Dean Malenko, and Chris Beniot. Sting would continue to face series of controversey by his fellow WCW superstars for nearly killing Ric Flair. Sting would defend himself, but Sting's ideals and morals were questioned by WCW. The first man to come out and state conspiracy about Sting wanting take Flair out was, DDP. DDP would soon find himself Sting's 1# contender for Spring Stampede 1998. Sting would win, in eyebrow raising fashion with DDP's foot being under the rope and not seen by the ref. Meanwhile things have exploded within the NWO. As Randy Savage's leadership of the NWO was in question by the rebels. Savage would embrace Bischoff, and Savage was seen as the savior of the NWO. But, the rebels wanted Savage to defect. The rebels were soon led by Scott Hall, Konan, Buff Bagwell and Curt Hening against NWO Hollywood led by Randy Savage, Kevin Nash, The Giant, and Scott Steiner. The NWO launched into chaos, but Savage and Hall on opposing ends would have a friendship. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall had nasty fallout in this faction war, and Nash would continue to pressure Savage into disregarding his respect with Hall. This would lead to Savage taking on Nash at Spring Stampede in a winning effort with help from Scott Hall.
After the fallout of Spring Stampede, Sting and DDP had unfinished buissness. Ric Flair also happened to have returned, to face off against Sting. But Sting using his mind games against Flair would put Flair and DDP against eachother especially with the WCW World Championship at the center. Randy Savage would have moved up into the main event scene, and be rewarded by Bischoff for his winning efforts. Savage would try to patch things up with Kevin Nash, but Nash would down deep be hateful to Savage. So the stage was set for Slamboree 1998 for a fatal 4 way for the championship. It was wild, but Randy Savage would walk out with the title. Randy Savage would now hold life or death to the WCW. Randy Savage would be confronted by the former champion Sting. Sting would try to get inside the champions head, and Sting would praise himself as the man who saved WCW for the first time, and can do it for the second. Savage and Sting would put on a classic at the 1998 Great American Bash, with Savage walking out champion. Savage would then set his sights on ending the war with WCW for good. NWO Black and White has amassed a massive force to destroy the WCW for good. The WCW had Sting and DDP's boiling tensions, a crazy Ric Flair, and a young Goldberg to lead the charge for Bash at the Beach 1998 in a Elimination match. Savage had the win, but the NWO Wolfpac would screw it's own over opposed to the enemy. WCW lived another day, only because of a faction war. Savage and his friend Scott Hall would be on edge with eachother. With Savage furious over Hall sanctioning the actions. It led to a massive confrontation with Savage and Hall at Road Wild 1998. Savage and Hall had a fair match, but Hall would betray Savage's trust with Kevin Nash turning on Savage in premeditated plan giving Scott Hall the World Title. The NWO Wolfpac now single handily, has deposed the NWO Hollywood in 2 months. Many in WCW questioned how lethal the NWO Wolfpac was to the WCW. It would only turnout, they are just a hateful to the NWO Hollywood as they are to the WCW. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash would try to restore what the NWO had started. Hall's ego would find himself in a match with Sting at Fallbrawl 1998 for the Championship. Scott Hall would rejoice in his victory, only for Kevin Nash to turn on Scott Hall. Nash had only reformed his friendship to get closer to the title. Randy Savage in the meantime would begin to be belittled by Eric Bischoff. Leading to Savage laying on the line and defeating Bischoff at Fallbrawl 1998. Savage would rejoice in his victory over Bischoff, and hope the NWO Hollywood would follow lead. Only to attack and beatdown Savage and remove him as leader. Scott Steiner would declare himself as the leader of NWO Hollywood. Steiner states he would raise it from the ground up. Kevin Nash would defeat Scott Hall for the title at Halloween Havoc 1998. Many, in the NWO Wolfpac had become clueless with Nash taking the title off Hall. But, the group voted for unity and Hall and Nash would be forced to work together. Scott Steiner would challenge Kevin Nash at World War 3 1998. But, in a last minute act Hollywood Hulk Hogan would return replacing Scott Steiner and defeat Nash. Hogan had returned to his thrown. Things in the WCW, had the WCW distracted from the faction war. The WCW had launched a attack on both NWO factions. With Hogan on the thrown intent on bringing back order to the NWO things would get very heated. As well as, Kevin Nash driving Scott Hall back to NWO Hollywood. It was set a 4 on 4 Wargames for Starcade 1998 was set. Team NWO Hollywood had Hogan, Scott Hall, Scott Steiner, and The Giant against Kevin Nash, Buff Bagwell, Konan, and Curt Henining. In the end Kevin Nash would punk Hogan and take the title back. The NWO Wolfpac has won the war, and Hollywood is over. But, with Nash declaring NWO victory he would be confronted by the WCW who waited out the war to just finish off the remaining. It was set for Sold Out 1999, with Bret Hart, Sting, Goldberg, and DDP defeating NWO Wolfpac in a Elimination match ending the NWO.
Bret Hart and Sting would feud throughout 1999
Kevin Nash would disappear
Hogan would return as face later in 1999
