Jesus Christ! It. Is. Not. Mattel Nor WWE. Neither company is going to turn down guaranteed money with a contract. I’m willing to bet Mattel’s WWE line is financially the most successful WWE toy line in history. YES IT IS! They can go digital, which is what they should be doing, its 2019! Online is the way to go not retail, RETAIL IS DEAD! Retail is far from dead. Having 2-4,000 stores within the US is far from being “dead”. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about and just come off butthurt.

I called these Chase figures scalper bait as soon as they where announced. It's even worse than I thought.
I saw a Pete Dunne last week sold for $144 plus shipping on eBay with bidding.
Before Chase figures when I wanted to buy a target exclusive hall of fame Jimmy Hart figure. It is a very similar situation because, suprise my target store still sucked back then as much as it does today.
I paid $33 with shipping included. I waited a bit for the price to go down with lots of sellers on ebay, but still.
I hope someone at mattel reads this and puts an end to this hot garbage. Its making things much much worse.

In all honesty here aren’t we only really talking about Pete Dunne and Harley Race. I feel like NXT 4 has been distributed pretty darn well so far it just has been a popular set and has I’d say at the very least two more months of prime shelf space. People will say Fan Central but that really was Walmart just picking up some figures that Mattel was stuck with, with Survivor Series rumored to be the exact same case. Backlund has been very easy to find, ive have seen gold standard Shelton three time and chase Hawkins twice. All the flashbacks elites prior to series 3 were readily available and you can get most of flashback two on Amazon for under $15. So really it just seems people are bent out of shape over two figures? I’m totally fine with exclusives, I enjoy the chase and finding them in the wild. The issue is that most US exclusives aren’t available overseas, so the only option is inflated prices online. This includes the nxt series, fan central, hall of champions, retrofest, so far the latest retro series. There are whole waves and series that simply aren’t available unless you’re in the US. That’s alienating your overseas customers. Mattel should be doing more to get these into large overseas retailers, there are plenty of options.

I am experiencing similar fears to toys as I am with comic books right now. Every week people looking to get rich off comics are running 2-5 titles a week up to $20 or so a book which is insane inflation on a $4 comic. Toys are the same way, someone snaps up all the chases. Another decides no price is too high. Boom, now us reasonable people who know that no piece of mass market plastic is worth $120 just have to pray we get lucky or we just take our ball and go home. I see longtime comic readers drop left and right because of how terrible the market is. Now I see toys doing the same. They are both wounded critically and I don't think either market will sustain in their current form. Sellers dont set the price, buyers do

You guys are so damn arrogant to one another. The exclusives do suck and they're impossible to find if you're just a "casual looker". Mattel will probably end it after this experiment considering what happened to Target and all the free NXT figures they gave out when people would order after they received the notifications. The lucky people who ordered them were able to get a complete refund back and they got to keep every figure. Crazy.

You're a lucky guy and we are just on two different realms to agree. They don't have them here where I live. My eBay and Mercari are different too.

Some crazy glitch occurred. anyone who purchased their NXT figures through the Target app, they were able to get a full refund for their order without having to return the figure. All they had to do was begin the refund process in the app, and Target would refund ones credit card.

I only know about this because the regional manager just made my local targets managers aware of the issue. I can't provide proof to verify the number of refund s given, but apparently somewhere in the ballpark of 30 to 35% (according to my local targets manager) of the orders placed were refunded and basically given out for free.

I am not sure if the glitch is still active. I am sure that they had corrected it do to that level of loss. But apparently it looks (looked) like this

I see longtime comic readers drop left and right because of how terrible the market is. Are you talking about rare variant/retailer exclusive covers? That sounds more like people with OCD, or some other neurosis, dropping a bad habit. I enjoy comics, but I don't collect them, and can't imagine ever stopping just because I can't have a physical copy of some butt-ugly variant cover. Similarly, I enjoy action figures, but I'm not gonna suddenly get rid of my entire collection because I can't get a Backlund. I don't give a about Bob Backlund. No, no, just standard issues of books. How is anyone supposed to get into a book like Immortal Hulk late when issues like #2 have shot to $50 because of a new character appearance, even though they are untested and their popularity and longevity remains unseen. Every earmark of the 90's crash is here in present times but with a much more dwindled market that wont survive a crash in print. To put it on topic with wrestling toys, why do you think only main stars and a listers inhabit the majority of the elite line and the basics when they didn't 5 years ago? Couldn't be sales falling....Why did Mafex figures not particularly increase in quality but jump from $50 in 2017 to $129.99 in 2018? Couldn't be sales falling.... Mattel throttling the production of things that aren't a guaranteed sale and enticing stores into purchasing large units of exclusives is gimmickry that doesn't indicate a strong market at all.

You only have to read this forum to know thats bs If i list something worth $100 for $500 chances are it wont sell, if it does, thats thr new value, set by the buyer, then others follow

Bill replied to someone’s concern about exclusives on IG. He said I found a Bob Backlund at Walmart near the toy show I’m doing. So since Bill found one then that means it’s alright guys (sarcasm if you can’t tell). There’s no use complaining especially to him because he’s not listening/doesn’t care. Since day one Mattel/Stores have had issues with distribution (legends line!!! The best line of all time died because of poor distribution). It’s not going to change. And let’s face it the head designer is just not fan friendly as previous lead designers (the goat Jeremy). Don’t give in and pay ridiculous prices. If no one pays the crazy amount scalpers want, they will be forced to lower their prices. If the figure is slightly over retail go ahead, snatch it up, but don’t break the bank fellas.

I’m not a big fan of these new characters being chase store exclusive figures either but seriously writing complaints to companies isn’t going to fix anything at all we’re just gonna have to deal with the concept.
