A Japanese developer was working on a wrestling game called UWC that never got released for reasons that aren't clear. What makes this interesting is that this game featured NWA/WCW stars. Sting, Ric Flair, the Road Warriors and Bobby ing Eaton were some of the characters planned to be in the game. I think the best guess is the WCW NES game that we ended up with is the reason this never came out. Strangely enough the two games look similar. The guy who now owns the game is going to put the rom out. It isn't 100% done but it looks pretty playable.

With as good of records as he kept about everything, I'd be surprised if Cornette doesn't remember the dealings of this, with Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton being featured. Unless of course, it wasn't licensed. This is more than likely mentioned in the dense Midnight Express scrapbook, if there was any sort of royalties paid for likeness.
I'm guessing this wasn't released because it's "UWC" rather than NWA/WCW. Though it is an unfinished prototype. I can't imagine it would've got this far into completion though without bothering to acquire licensing.

Cornette talked about this on his Drive Thru Podcast what did he have to say about it? I haven't listened to Cornette since he and Alice Radley had that falling out, because Alice definitely helped balance him

I remember when this was discovered and eagerly anticipated the rom to drop but then kinda forgot about it. Yesterday I randomly remembered it and was curious if the rom was ever dropped. I was able to find it and now have it running on my NES Classic. The game is not that fun and definitely doesn’t feel like a finished product. It’s something you may wanna play once or twice simply to check out but not give it any time after that. Here’s the LINK to the rom for those interested.

Yeah, I would never play this, I'll just stick to WWE 2K18, since I got RNR Express, Freebirds, CAWs of the Road Warriors, and everyone else here anyways. Stan Lane wasn't in any other game, right? Unfortunately, no. The Midnight Express and Cornette were rumored for LOW2, but that obviously didn't pan out.
