Bill said in the fall 3 of the 4 top talents elites gonna change deco so we gonna get another set of top talents elites in fall with new attire for the 3 out of the 4 then?? The way I interpreted that, is that the 3 figures we were shown this weekend of Rollins, Finn, and AJ is what will be hitting stores in the fall. Meaning that what's in stores now is what will remain in stores until the fall. I know Ringside's pre-order say late May for the new figs, and we know how far behind retail can be after RSC gets stuff in, so I think that all checks out. |

So after watching the Q&A the only thing that I guess I would say didn't make much sense is of course when they brought up these Wal-Mart and Target exclusive figures. How Bill said something about how he has spent more money on figures that he wanted to and it upset him and if you have to spend more money on figures then you have to. I found this odd because in a way he was saying if you have to spend money on the second market such has the bay then that is what you have to do to get the figure. I find it odd because looking at it has a business point of view well they are making that money Mattel the people selling the figure for those increased prices are the ones making the money. It sounded like Bill is just happy with giving what Wal-Mart and Target want and damn the figure community.

Judging by Bill's comments regarding keeping tabs on which exclusives are hot sellers and their ability to release them again, I'd bet they've already got plans for another Elite Pete Dunne. btw Trevor did a great job. Yeah, I enjoyed Trevor's eagerness to ask follow-up questions and just in general the way he was able to get as much out of Bill as he could. I liked Bill's responsiveness, too. This Q&A felt like it went by fast. |

I like Bill, his passion for his work is immense. but Jesus Mattell needs to hire someone who can talk. watching him stumble through these questions with LONG awkward pauses is just painful. Man I agree. Bill seems a good dude, but it appears he hates being put on the spot in these kinds of Q&A. |

Overall some interesting info from the Q&A. It really sounds like Target and Walmart are calling the shots for Mattel. Though I guess you can't really blame them, when they have few other mass market retail options. But I completely disagree with Mattel's strategy of lines having an intentional end point after a year. Even though I'm a loose collector, I think there's a lot of value in the brand identify that lines like Classic Superstars or Marvel Legends create through long-running, consistent line branding and packaging. The idea that a line runs for a year and is killed and replaced by something new the next year, regardless of how well it does, just seems idiotic. But it sounds like there's some hope for more WCW belts and some names from the concussion suit coming back into the fold. With Toys R Us gone, they are Mattel's 2 biggest buyers now. He addressed the store exclusive situation perfectly-When the 2 biggest retailers want something, (Mattel) has to give it to them. |

Of course no words about the Shayna Baszler figure and the title situation. But seriously saying that he knows how important the titles are for us. Yeah sure Bill, sure. That's why we got the male title in the packaging right? Oh and because WCW was the topic, that's also why we got the WWE cruiserweight title with Dean Malenko instead of the correct WCW cruiserweight title, because he knows how important they are to us. Jesus Christ. Have you ever made a positive post? Dean Malenko needed a selling point, so they gave him a belt. They couldn't use the WCW title, so they went with the next best thing. THAT bellyaching right there is exactly why they never threw generic tats on Jericho and Punk, because someone like you would have posted some passive aggressive nonsense about it. Bill clearly is one, and that's fine. but maybe get someone who is. |

Thanks for posting the Q&A - though they only got like two questions, it does sound like there is at least some future in the Retro line still which is great; if they are considering the investment of creating female talent in that form as well. I LOVE the Retro line - but I'm not really interested in seeing Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Asuka etc. in it... maybe that's just me though. If they are considering adding women, then I think ones like Trish Stratus, Lita, and Miss Elizabeth are a much better fit. |

Jesus Christ. Have you ever made a positive post? Hundreds, open your eyes. You know, that's the problem about positive and negative postings. Nobody recognize positive postings, because there's nothing to discuss about it, but when someone criticize something and specially you don't agree with it, then it appears that you only read postings like that from me, which is simply not true. Dean Malenko needed a selling point, so they gave him a belt. They couldn't use the WCW title, so they went with the next best thing. What kind of nonsense is that? Are we making stuff up now? He even said in this interview that they can use every title and of course they can, WWE has the rights for all of them. And crap like this is exactly what needs to be criticized, cause it's lazy and cheap and the Shayna figure and the male NXT title still doesn't get the crapstorm it deserves, there is nothing to defend about this sexist bullcrap. |
