***Edit*** I may have to take Sid out and add the Big Boss Man - when he was big (before he turned face). One of the best heavyweights in the ring, really liked his feud with Hulk Hogan and their cage match - the first time I saw someone super plex another guy off the top of the cage, odd that it was these two, great moment and match though.

In my estimation, Andre, Big Show, El Gigante & Great Khali might be the only true giants making it impossible to list ten. Maybe include the two dudes from the Oddities. Anyways I'll say.. WWE has a legends table where this is discussed and they can't pick.
I say this.. NBA Basketball player for Portland Trail Blazers Meyers Leonard is 7'2". He's the ONLY famous/rich person from my town. He was a kid when I was a driving teen. Now, he's this really tall kid who comes back home from time to time, but he's not giant.
Height doesn't make you a Giant alone.
Clearly weight doesn't either. Yes, Yokozuna was HUGE, but it's just around. The McGuire twins were MASSIVE, but again, just waist size. Notice I didn't say they were giants though?
You gotta have both! Even Ernie Ladd was just a BIG BIG guy.
Andre The Giant is quite possibly 1-10.
Edit: hopefully this will not offend. Should we only consider wrestlers who had the rare condition, acromegaly, as giants?

There is no official anyone keeping tabs on us, we can consider giants just the big men in wrestling.
I always considered the "giants" hulk faced to bigger than him, at least 350 lbs and/or 6'10" and above.

Looks like you're right! The original Calhoun was an American wrestler who debuted in the 50's, and got his moniker by pitching full bales of hay into a high loft, as the story goes. The Giant Haystacks was a British wrestler, and cribbed his ring name from the original, until modifying it to the Giant Haystacks later on. I'm not sure if the Brit did any hay bale chucking, though. |
