Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I think it's easy for people to burn themselves out on collecting and then look for somewhere the lay the blame. Missing out on Dunne, or Backlund, or whoever sucks. But it only gets to you as much as you let it.
The Rockers are my favorite tag team of all time. I started collecting in 2015, and missed out on the days of $5 clearance sales for the figures. And while I can afford it, I'm not shelling out $100+ for some action figures just to have them sit on a shelf. Is it a hole in my collection? Sure. Do I wish I had the figures? Yeah. Has it impacted my enjoyment of the figures I DO have, or how happy I am with my collection? Not one bit. It's very possible I won't find Sherry or Patterson. That frustrates me, but there are always other fish in the sea.
In the grand scheme of things, I still think it's a great time to be a wrestling figure collector. But as with any hobby, if what you do in your down time isn't bringing you joy, then it's time to find something else that does.

Funny how a difference of opinion incites so much hate... the whole chase/distribution thing seems to be taking a fair amount of joy out of collecting for many, while others love it. I think it bullsh*t the way some of us treat our fellow collectors and their thoughts, and a certain someone should be asshamed of his continued mocking of other collectors. (Says a lot about him, but thats another story)
I have managed to get Backlund on evil bay for a reasonable price, and now I’m awaiting Sherri to become more available so the prices come down a little (no need for Dunne for me). I’m happy to over pay for exclusives or chase figures, but there is a point that doesn’t make any sense. I think a lot of this issue stems back to Harley Race, or the lack of Harley figures.
I for one have reduced the size of my collection, I’m trying to get down to no more then 1-2 figures of each wrestler. There is just so much product coming out (and that’s not a bad thing) I can be very selective now. Is it because of the chase figures? Probably has a little to do with it, but my interests are going in other directions... Hasbro WWF is a line I have always wanted, NECA TMNT is probably the best line in action figures right now and my Hot Toys are slowly but surely increasing in numbers.
But as others have said, if it’s not fun anymore for you, then you need to change something, if that means stopping then so be it, maybe change direction with your collection.

U bring up some fair points, but I don’t think missing out on figures that were released before you started collecting is the same as not being able to find something at retail when you are actively looking. But I do wholeheartedly agree to take joy from what you do have, rather then what you don’t have.

This board represents a vocal majority, but a purchasing minority. Can you recommend some wrestling forums where the community is more...accurately distributed/represented, I guess? 99% of wrestling fans and wrestling figure purchasers do not post on message boards. They are moms, dads, kids, etc.

They are moms, dads, kids, etc. Yeah, they’re the ones who will slowly but surely clear out all the access Shinsuke and Sami Zayn figures. They’re not the ones making figures hot sellers because they don’t know what’s coming out or aren’t hitting up stores at 8am trying to find NXT4 or Pete Dunne.

They are moms, dads, kids, etc. And at some point the demographics must have changed. Wrestling fans and collectors from the 80s onward at this point are parents with disposable income. Even if we say they didnt hit the internet in force until the late 90s, thats still a buttload of parents, collectors, and kids who grew up with the internet and are online right now. I know social media killed forums, but this cant be the only major wrestling forum left...right?

Why do we keep making these threads? None of this is stuff that isn’t being said in one of the other either threads. We wanna discuss it? Fine I just don’t get it, it’s the same people posting their same exact opinions in yet another thread! Axxess can’t get here fast enough to give us something else to talk about.

Pete Dunne has been harder to track down than others but wasn’t impossible to get. There is always the comments on here that says stores want guys like Rollins, Reigns, and Styles all the time but the Target manager around here has even said they would rather have more Dunne and Black since they sell and are what everyone is asking him for. He gets tired of it since the one Dunne sells right away then he gets stuck with the Rollins & Uso figures that don’t sell so he can’t more until they do.

Welcome to real world kid. No one owes you anything. If you want to quit because you didn’t get your way then you were never really in it to begin with.
I love seeing people’s collections with hard to find figures, and even some figures I don’t have in my own collection.

This whole debacle of exclusives to Walmart and Target only 1 per box has pretty much killed my desire for collecting. Let me start off with Backland. I got one on WWE.com and many people have had no problem finding him in the open. But without WWE.com having him for a few days, he wouldn't be as easy as he has been to find in Walmarts. So please, don't use the oh I found a Backlund excuse cause if WWE.com never has it, its a much harder figure to find. We now move on to Dunne and Sherri, who are practically impossible to find. I'v searched like crazy, I've kept an eye on BrickSeek and PopFindr and still no luck with either. Now I see others who I will want being announced to be released like this and it is doing nothing but causing frustration. When something you enjoy doing, turns to something that not only gives you no pleasure, but you feel frustration and other ill feelings why continue to do it? I mean Toys R Us use to get store exclusives such as the Network Spotlight, but they received an entire case of that one figure, not one per box. Mattel has put no thought into this. The fun has been taking away. I agree the chase is fun, but despite what Ryder and Hawkins say on their podcast, this is NOT what collecting is about. And despite what they say about not getting figures sent to them, the bottom line is these figures ARE sent to them. They may not admit it, but they live in a different world then we do. It should not be this impossible for these figures to be found. I am afraid to say when it comes to collecting, I've lost my smile. So much so, that over the past couple weeks I have passed on other figures I would normally buy. Backlund to WWE Shop was not supposed to happen, but I get what you're saying. The only solution that I can offer to you is an assortment of other threads where your comments would be just as welcome. forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/356746/pete-dunneforum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/357722/sensational-sherriforum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/357818/exclusives-get-out-control-whereforum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/357944/major-wrestling-figure-podcast-drinking
