This whole debacle of exclusives to Walmart and Target only 1 per box has pretty much killed my desire for collecting.
Let me start off with Backland. I got one on WWE.com and many people have had no problem finding him in the open. But without WWE.com having him for a few days, he wouldn't be as easy as he has been to find in Walmarts. So please, don't use the oh I found a Backlund excuse cause if WWE.com never has it, its a much harder figure to find.
We now move on to Dunne and Sherri, who are practically impossible to find. I'v searched like crazy, I've kept an eye on BrickSeek and PopFindr and still no luck with either. Now I see others who I will want being announced to be released like this and it is doing nothing but causing frustration. When something you enjoy doing, turns to something that not only gives you no pleasure, but you feel frustration and other ill feelings why continue to do it?
I mean Toys R Us use to get store exclusives such as the Network Spotlight, but they received an entire case of that one figure, not one per box. Mattel has put no thought into this. The fun has been taking away. I agree the chase is fun, but despite what Ryder and Hawkins say on their podcast, this is NOT what collecting is about. And despite what they say about not getting figures sent to them, the bottom line is these figures ARE sent to them. They may not admit it, but they live in a different world then we do. It should not be this impossible for these figures to be found.
I am afraid to say when it comes to collecting, I've lost my smile. So much so, that over the past couple weeks I have passed on other figures I would normally buy.

A lot of people were almost about to give up and then they found it, dont give up, enjoy the hunt, make it something to look forward to. Dont give up, you'll get them eventually, why rush?

I can’t really talk about Sherri yet because none of my area store are at E65 yet. And I’ve only seen e64 at WalMart in the WM shippers. And while I really don’t give a rats @$$ about getting Dunne (other than @ham asking me to keep my eyes open for it) all I have seen at Targets are Top Picks, E63 and NXT 4 so I haven’t even had a chance to look for him yet. That said I did get Backlund from WWE Shop prior to Christmas and I did pick up another at WalMart last week...So I am hoping once E64 and E65 hit Target and Walmart respectively that I will be able to find them as well. But I will say that Sherri is the first Mattel figure I ever had any worry about missing out on owning. Because if I can’t find it locally I won’t have it in my collection, because I don’t believe in the secondary market.

Yeah, I don't think those guys know what it's like to try and find this stuff for the GP. They DO have it differently, they do get figures sent to them, and if they really don't get one or find it, they have the money to pay ebay prices. And these exclusives are different than it was back in the day.
I guess I'm not familiar with much of how it was beyond the Jakks BCA days. But, for most of the older lines, there weren't really any exclusives to certain retailers. My main experience is Hasbro, and they released all the sets to all retailers, and their were tons of places to buy back then, not only the major toy stores like TRU, KB, but you had all the department stores, and even grocery stores and pharmacies like CVS.
And these guys travel the country on the regular and have time to stop in at stores every day. Most have jobs/school/family to take care of and can't just run from store to store all week looking for toys.
I do enjoy the MWFP, but it did irk me when they dissed all the people complaining about how hard it is to find figs.

I feel like this bold section here ought to be the beginning, middle, and end for anyone feeling the way you do. If you're not enjoying something, stop. Plain and simple. You could go blue in the face and sore in the shoulder casting blame and pointing fingers, but in the end, it's not likely to change anything, and all you're going to be left with is those same feelings of exasperation and unhappiness. You have nothing to gain expending time, money, and effort on something that isn't necessary that you don't enjoy, so why on earth would or should you?

They aren’t packing entire cases with these figure because they would not sell. They are exclusives because they are made in limited runs. These characters do not warrant a full production run because they are legends or newer characters that the general wrestling fan base does not care about.
This board represents a vocal majority, but a purchasing minority. He reason you see top stars in every series is because that’s what Mattel wants on the shelves because those are their bestsellers. To say Mattel isn’t thought this out is laughable. They have strategically thought this out. Every Pete Dunne, Sherri, Bob Backlujd that has hit the shelves has sold out. I’d say that’s a pretty good sell through.

I’ve been saving a crap ton of $$$, because nothing has been out that I’ve really been searching for ... there are a few things, but most of the past 6 months or ao of releases have been all current product stuff, so I haven’t been interested in finding.
I only have a few that I’m even excited about, but I’m sure they’ll all be scalper bait ... hell, Sherri hasn’t hit my area, neither has the new shipper or anything remotely recent ... I THINK E63 is still hanging around ... the series with Big E & Breezango.
I’ll ultimately get the ones that I want, but if this years SDCC doesn’t really impress me, then I’ll really cut back.
Mattel is cashing in on current product, so there isn’t much for us FlashBack guys anymore ... and what we do get, it’s usually scalped ... but ... it is what it is.
Thankfully, I have some friends that help, so I can usually get what I’m after.

The only Network exclusives I never saw in the wild at TRU are the ones that never arrived to begin with, on account of the flood of Ringmasters, Helmsleys, Undertakers, and McMahons clogging the shelves.

I remember back in the day going to TRU and finding the BCA series packed on the pegs....worst case scenario 1 store was out of a certain character and then the next place you went would have it. Those were the days in fact, the Legends series was always stocked well every where I went now that I think about it

This board represents a vocal majority, but a purchasing minority. Can you recommend some wrestling forums where the community is more...accurately distributed/represented, I guess?

Some people just dont have patience. When its your time you will find one. Keep hunting but dont stress yourself, at the end of the day they are just action figures. Yes these exclusives are a pain but when you find it the feeling will be rewarding.
