Well I think the guaranteed title shot at Wrestlemania does pretty much narrow it down as to WHO could win the Rumble each year.
I am sure if in 1988 the winner of the Rumble got a shot at the WWE Title, the winner wouldn't have been Jim Duggan. Same in 1989 with Big John Studd.
But every year since 1993, I have been around 75% correct over all in predicting the winner of the Rumble, just because of that title shot at Wrestlemania. And usually the 15% I was wrong on, that wrestler was the runner up to winning the Rumble. There is that rare 10% where I didn't predict such things - like Santino Marella being the last one eliminated, or Rusev.

Everyone realised Cesaro didn’t have it about three singles pushed ago. He never got half the push he could have a few years back. He has at least as much as Roman, Brock, or half the guys Vince loves. Lol.

No, the title shot hasn't ruined it. Vince McMahon and his unwillingness to pull the trigger on upstarts, underdogs, and those that were not his golden boy creations have ruined it. I'm a Rollins fan and I'm glad he now has this feather in his cap, but he didn't need to win to be the guy to fight Brock. It was all lining up perfect anyway. Why couldn't someone like Big E win? Is he not a credible threat to Daniel Bryan? Along with the Kofi storyline going on, this would fit nicely. Why not Joe? Champion vs champion for the wwe title? Why not give Cesaro a damn chance for once? As with everything wwe related, Vince is whats holding things back. Everyone realised Cesaro didn’t have it about three singles pushed ago. That promo he had where he said these 4 ropes (or something to that affect) and then tried to correct himself right after killed him. He was dead in the water at that point, even having Paul Heyman as his mouth piece didnt work.

Isn't that the whole point of the Rumble? The winner automatically goes to WrestleMania for a title shot? Yeah, there's "about 5 wrestlers having a chance of being considered the winner" as you said. It's always been like that. And as far as the MITB goes, if anything, they need to drop that whole "cash in, anywhere, anytime" concept. It's run it's course, and really hasn't produced anything good since Edge was the "Ultimate Opportunist" and RVD cashed in at One Night Stand. The Rumble has been predictable at times, but it's just a classic at this point. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The two Rumbles at least doesn't have that stip. Not counting all of the "unofficial" Rumbles they did at house shows way back when, of course.

if there's still a chance that 5 out of 30 guys could win the rumble, thats fine. there isnt this large separation of the roster anymore anyway. if you look at all the guys on both brands most of them are around the same "level". i actually love the concept of the winner getting the world title shot at Mania, it makes the rumble match important.
with MITB they already cover the whole title shot at any time thing, so thats enough. and with the rumble existing how it is it makes you care about the match.

Everyone realised Cesaro didn’t have it about three singles pushed ago. having Paul Heyman as his mouth piece didnt work. you're right on the fact that it didnt work, but you're completely ignoring the reason WHY it didnt work... when they paired Heyman with him, they literally did nothing but have Heyman talk about Brock Lesnar and they never actually used Heyman to build up Cesaro. the failure of that push had nothing to do with Cesaro, and everything to do with the way the writers wrote Heyman's character. not to mention at the time Heyman was still a heel manager/mouthpiece and Cesaro was coming off the biggest babyface pop of his career....but they effectively turned him heel the night after the crowd was 100% behind him. They should have used his Andre Battle Royal win to launch him to a main event singles push with Heyman actually building him up and doing the "sell" but they were more concerned with getting Lesnar over, which left Cesaro's push in the dirt.

I have two main problems with the Royal Rumble, but the title shot is not one of them. I hate having two Rumble matches on a show. I get we are in the womens revolution, but could they not have come up with a different concept for them> Maybe they could have brought back King of the Ring and called it Queen of the Ring and have that be their getting a title shot thing. The Royal Rumble was a special once a year thing, but the last year or so we have had five Rumble matches! Also I hate how overbooked they are the way wrestlers will sit in the corner for what feels like forever while some spot is being done in the ring has taken out most of the fun from the Royal Rumble. the Queen of the Ring concept would be a good idea

It's one of the main reasons why I hate 2 World titles. This whole rumble winner choosing a champion nonsense has been done to death and it defeats the whole purpose of the rumble. When someone chooses a champion where does that leave the other title? Kofi's storyline is great but this is WM and the only way someone should have the right to challenge for the title is through the Royal Rumble. The 2 World Title thing at least can add another name or two to possible winners. In my head going into the 2019 rumble, it was most likely either Rollins or Strowman to win and face Brock; or Orton or Joe to face Brock. The added complexity of being able to jump to the other brand for a title shot at least opens up a few more possibilities.

Well like it’s been said in the thread, they just keep having a guy who doesn’t really need it win. They had the right idea with Shinsuke Nakamura last year but we see where that’s led him. Like 2 years ago with Orton. Did not need to be winning a Rumble at that stage in his career. Same with Triple H the year before. And the Reigns and Batista debacles the prior 2 years.
Rollins was a solid, safe choice this year. But it was kind of anticlimactic. I feel like they should have stacked the deck against him a little more. Like have him come out at #1. Yeah I know Lashley put him through the announce table and he was outside for however long it was. Not a fan of that spot in any match. It would have gotten over more if he came out 1 and had an iron man like performance
A solid year of build and next year it’ll be cool to see someone like Alesteir Black or Ricochet get the win.

You may not have. 99% of people here do. 90% of screaming fans seem to love everything she does. Just proof that promos dont matter when it comes to VKM pushing you. Becky, Ronda, Roman, Sheamus, Brock...cesaro is an entertaining guy when given more than 2 scoops of crap to work with. It's cool if you disagree, but we cant act like he isnt capable of getting over enough to make it work at least a little.

The problem is the belts don’t mean crap.... with the brand split, Mania should be set up like Wrestlemania 8. A dual main event, that actually feels like a half way point of the show.

Excellent high-level tag team wrestler. Terrible singles guy, but not everybody is cut out to main event WrestleMania.
