Given the recent rumors that The Club may be on the way out of the WWE, I decided I needed to get the lone Elite figures of Gallows and Anderson while they still could be had below retail price. I couldn't find them at my closest Big Lots and while Anderson still warms the pegs in a few Target and Wal-Marts near me, I got the pair online for a little under $30 shipped.
I guess it is because I wasn't actively collecting when these were new figures but opening up the Gallows figure and having him in hand, I was surprised at how good his figure was. It was a figure I was just aiming to have but I feel he is definitely more quality and a better figure than some of the ones I was more excited about getting.
Anyone else have stories of figures they found to be better than expected when having it in hand? Or the other way could be interesting too - was there something that was just awful when you finally got it?

That Gallows would be on my list also. I can't wait for Liv Morgan to be in my hands, or at least her figure

Those are both really good figures, especially not being true fx scans.

New Jinder basic, scan looks gash in all the pics I’ve seen (final moc shots and in hand camera shots) but when I saw it in store I thought it looked fantastic in person.

Retrofest Duggan comes to mind. I like it now I’ve got it but the face was putting me off before from pics

E47B Pillman was great. Better than I expected. DM Jericho is another figure I was surprised by. Looks so "eh" in box but in hand it's one of my favorites.

I finally opened up my 3 sanity figures this week and the details in their gear is way better when you can really inspect them.

I saw the Basic Mandy Rose figure in person at Walmart a few days ago. It looks way better in person and not like the bobble head it does in pics lol.

The Elite 66 AJ Styles figure is a lot better in person. For some reason in pictures the hair piece looks very big, but in person it doesn't bother me and it is a AWESOME figure. The scan is unreal if you get one that is painted well.

WrestleMania 35 Elite - Scott Hall
Was so hyped when i found out it was in my favourite Hall attire and planned on getting it, but the headscan killed it for me at first. Held off for months and recently decided to go ahead and grab it, in person it's much much better. The body is perfect, attire is perfect and the head is good, it's not perfect but still good, i think the only negative part about it is the little patch of beard missing.
Either way, it's my favourite Hall figure now, mainly because of the attire and the extra hands.
Also on the Hall topic, when i got my first Hall figure (Elite 51) i only got it to go with a Nash figure i had so i didn't expect it to blow me away, but in person, it was much better than i thought.

I second the WM 35 Kevin Nash. Pics looked like a trainwreck but in hand I can't complain.

Decide I should pick up a Brock Lesnar. Ordered an Elite 55 Brock Lesnar and was surprised how much I liked this figure in hand.

I didn't pay too much attention to the Tyler breeze and fandango fashion police elites but got then when they were cheap and they're both arguably the best mattel figures imo

When I first saw Mattel's Kamala figure, I was impressed. The box art grabbed my attention, and the accessories looked top notch. Then, when I finally bought it and got it outta the box, I was totally blown away. This figure is still my favorite Mattel, his expression and details are just so perfectly captured. I got excited to see Steele when he was coming out, but was a lot less impressed when I saw the figure in person. For some reason, it just didn't seem as well done to me. So, I stuck with my Jakks Steele, and have that fine lookin' Kamala standing next to him.

Elite 63 Dusty... how this figure isn’t given more love is beyond me.

When we first saw Ken Shamrock’s figure at the SDCC of ‘17, it looked just terrible. I was still going to buy it but it was likely a one and done. Then I saw the final product on Ringside’s site and thought better of it. Once it landed on my front porch, I was very happy my long awaited Shamrock. I bought like 10 of them.
