If you like having the same 15 legends recycled over and over in the legends line then good for you. Myself and others would like variety. The Goon & Kama were nothing more than jobbers and neither of those figures shelf warmed. To be fair, I don't think the retros is the most egregious case of character burnout in the line. Obviously we got some gold standards and have another on the way in Bret, but guys like Cowboy Bob, Volkoff, JYD, Anvil, Sheik and Tugboat aren't exactly the most picked-over characters in the canon. I actually think it's possible that all three of these companies (Mattel, ZST and Chella) are best suited to exist alongside each other. ZST and Chella fortuitously filling in some blind spots gives us more opportunities to get great selections from Mattel's roster, characters that can only be done by them. I don't think the retro line could sustain long or even intermediate-term on just fulfilling the orange card series and other guys from the Hasbro-era. Even for a niche adult-geared line, that's really limiting their audience to a small core of collectors. Exactly. I mean, how many people are there out there with either full Hasbro collections or (smaller still) full MOC Hasbro collections? The Retro line/Mattel would be crazy just to cater to them.

Mattel just sold out its Retro run of Mean Gene, Roddy Piper, Mister T and Cowboy Bob -- for those saying that older figures from the Hasbro era are way too niche, I don't think so

Mattel just sold out its Retro run of Mean Gene, Roddy Piper, Mister T and Cowboy Bob -- for those saying that older figures from the Hasbro era are way too niche, I don't think so For sure, I don't think Series 11 is too niche, not at all. To me all four characters are very much trying to represent the LJN-era, which obviously crossed paths with the Hasbro era, but it feels very much like an 80s Piper, Cowboy Bob and Mr. T are straight out of Mania 1 and I suppose Mean Gene can really fit in anywhere. My point was more to say that I don't think Mattel can sustain a line of figures depicting guys solely from the Hasbro era or, more specifically the "shoulda been Hasbro's" era, which imo Series 11 didn't do. They can't just fill out the roster from 94-95, do the orange card series and call it mission accomplished. Between the inability of a lot of people (myself included) to complete an original Hasbro collection and the retros imperfect likeness to Hasbro's that perfect continuation is just not that important, especially when other companies are filling in where Mattel isn't going. If you're asking me if I'd rather Mattel use their licensing power to make an Edge retro, or a Vader retro, or a Vince McMahon retro vs. a Booger retro or Men on a Mission, I'm personally choosing the big names 10x out of 10.

That makes sense. I think what people are feeling is that we'd love them from during the Hasbro era -- up through the 90s when Hasbro would have continued -- or maybe a little bit before.
But I don't think a current Edge would be wanted. A 1999 Edge - yes! I'd rather have Men on a Mission over anyone from post 2001, personally...

Oh definitely, that's actually right in lock step with what I want, though I'm willing to give them a little rope into like 04-05 if they're willing to do it. I say it a bunch but my favorite figures they've done are the ones that cross into the BCA/attitude era, Diesel, Taker, Goldust, NWO Mach, all of series 2. I do think it would be nice to get say like a Batista and/or a Rey Mysterio, I don't know if it bothers anybody else but the fact that the HBK is just a random depiction of 05-08 HBK when none of the other figures are from that era bothers the hell out of me. Bad enough that it looks pretty terrible in the face, but to me it sticks out like a sore thumb because he doesn't fit well with either the old school or current guys.

Do we have an ETA on when the next assortment will be up for pre order? Wasn’t it late 2nd quarter or early 3rd quarter?

Steve answered this in the Q&A. I *think* he said hoping for after SDCC

I’ve been sending my Retros out to get autographed every chance I get this year. Sent The Undertaker to Fiterman Sports and Taker’s signature really looks great on it. imgur.com/a/UnU29hW

That's cool! And a lot less risky than sending a Hasbro through the mail!

Since the Superstars line launched, Retros have officially become TomTit.

Since the Superstars line launched, Retros have officially become TomTit. 🤷♂️ Personally, I'm not a fan of the Superstars figures - they look kind of ridiculous with their giant shoulders and ripped torsos... I know some people love that style of figure, but outside of He-Man figures, it just doesn't look good (to me, anyway). Give me Retros any day.

I didn’t own Remco figs, so the Superstars do nothing for me. Give me Retros, I’ll keep buying them.

I was able to score an extra Mean Gene and put on the 80s Vince head from that 7 feet tall elite they put out. That Vince elite also comes with a blue platform that you can place your Mean Gene retro on to conduct Mean Gene interviews with.
I want more retros dammit.

I feel like Zeus is a possibility… absolutely a missing retro in the canon. I just hope SDCC hints at some improvements and tweaks to quality control with the retros. New bodies/molds/etc - the demand is there for these to be better.
Would also love to see an nWo set. Hogan, Hall, Nash and syxxpac really needs to happen.

Main want out of Comic Con: A new big guy body. Ideally Vader.

Kind of seems like they're going a bit further back in time with retros, at least at the moment. NWO set would be a good one eventually though.

Personally I’ve got no interest in an NWO set; but Zeus on the other hand - yes!

I would absolutely buy a Retro bundle of Zeus, Hogan, Savage, and Beefcake from SummerSlam 89!

I appreciate the fact that Mattel is paying homage to the classic figure lines. Wish they’d do one for the LJN figures.🫤
