okay I was just looking for an excuse to use this meme I'll calm down when we get a Hogan retro.
Nah, you're right though, this series bombed. When my Toys R Us was in its last week, these could be found on super clearance. They were all over GameStop in my area for the longest time, and they still hang in Target around me. Huge bust right there.

Would love to be based in the US just one day. I’d buy all figures I could find and store them for customs.

I’ve been in the US for about 10 days now and visited three Targets so far - one had no Retros at all, another had two of Angle and Sheamus (possibly Jericho as well but I already have all I need of his figure; I bought one Angle and one Sheamus, still need to find a HBK), and then the one I went to in San Diego still had multiples of Rollins, Ambrose and Styles (no Goldberg). Still need to visit a Walmart, but I’ve at least bought two in order to try to do my bit to help our American associates

Of S7 remnants, Sheamus is by far the most common around here, Walmart even gave him his own peg lol, clearance tag says Sheamus wrestling figure. No HBKs left in the area though, but that might be skewed from myself buying so many of them haha.

The one good thing about poor retro figures is the fact custom makers can use them for spare parts.

The one good thing about poor retro figures is the fact custom makers can use them for spare parts. The retros have made customs so easy to make...The bodies are easily painted and sealed and the mattel main line heads fit perfectly....So far I have made 123 kid, Cody Rhodes, Sting, Hart Foundation Brian Pillman, Hart Foundation Owen, and the Miz and thats just a few weeks...The biggest hurdle is the price of the main line figs just to rip their heads off and finding retros at a cheaper price as well (Austin/Jericho body is clearly the most used).

True. I really need at least 2-3 Jericho/Ryder, Angle, Austin (or similar), Sami and at least one of each Diesel, Strowman, Joe, Ambrose to realize all my planned customs. So many possibilities to fill up the Retro line. In fact even most of the original Retros look better if upgraded with Elite head and accessories.

That's a small chunk of the buying market- customizers. Maybe like the Target NXT figures, we'll see some as an online exclusive if Mattel doesn't bring them back to brick n mortar retail.

Yeah I have switched to mattel heads on a lot of mine as well...The options are pretty endless as long as second hand supply of the retros keep up...Here is the Pillman i just made to go with my Hart Foundation

Which retro did you use? Did you paint the skin tone or is it original? Who else have you made?

My ongoing humanitarian visit across the US to save stranded Retros at Walmart and Target stores today saw me find the HBK I needed to finish my loose series 7 collection! I found him in a Walmart somewhere north of Dallas at $7 - thinking about it now, maybe it would’ve been more appropriate to try to find him at a store in San Antonio when I get there, but meh... They had multiples of all four guys from the series so I doubt that store will be getting any series 8 guys any time soon, despite my assistance. Still get a bit of buzz walking into a store and see those figures on those cards on the pegs for me to buy

They struck gold by making these then instantly screwed it up with series 3 and current guys being in every line way to early had it been strictly flashbacks with a current superstar here and there in a wave it would have been perfect and not screwed up distribution like it did because of them and then once every flashback possible was finally made in it they could make then it could have just switched over to the current ones in every wave with a added first time flashback as they got the rights for whoever it was not already in the line this honestly could have reached series 100 easily just like the basics did if it was done right

Well done man, that's a great job.
Imagine if we'd got that HBK and Goldberg instead...would be two great figures.
Instead we got jumper Oldberg and some guy that they said was HBK, but really could have been William Regal's secret illegitimate brother.

Safe to say we all agree that once that other guy took over it took a nosedive. I msged him on instagram last year, he doesnt have a clue. I was like u just released the blue retro ring and u dont have Any retro wwf figures displayed in it. It was like nwo macho, flair, new day. He was like, flair? I was like man that's an nwa flair. This line couldve kept its head up and seen multiple re-releases of the ring in an attitude style, etc.

I hate to pick apart things, but now that it's on this hiatus for an undisclosed amount of time, I can't help but look at the little things like that now.
