Well done man, that's a great job. Imagine if we'd got that HBK and Goldberg instead...would be two great figures. Instead we got jumper Oldberg and some guy that they said was HBK, but really could have been William Regal's secret illegitimate brother. Haha i was convinced that HBK was supposed to be a long haired Alec Baldwin

I got some bad news for you; you'll never get a job with Mattel. JK
Very Nice ! That is something that Mattel should have handed out at SDCC as a sorry for putting retros on hiatus, really starting to hate that word.

There's 27 current figures and 17 flashback figures in the line from my count since I don't count Goldberg or Shawn as being flashbacks

Safe to say we all agree that once that other guy took over it took a nosedive. I msged him on instagram last year, he doesnt have a clue. I was like u just released the blue retro ring and u dont have Any retro wwf figures displayed in it. It was like nwo macho, flair, new day. He was like, flair? I was like man that's an nwa flair. This line couldve kept its head up and seen multiple re-releases of the ring in an attitude style, etc. Not to mention two belt holders on the ring but not even one belt included at all....I really do appreciate and love what they tried to do with the line and what we did get in the end. I hate to pick apart things, but now that it's on this hiatus for an undisclosed amount of time, I can't help but look at the little things like that now. Honestly, deep down I think we all know retros are done for good. Bill even said that Retros definitely were not going to be a part of 2020. Meaning that it will be at least 2 years before we see anything at all. That's a long time to be on hiatus.

The think that still irks me most is making collectors beg for an answer at SDCC as to what was coming out after series 10. Since we have not seen any other non-retail released Retro figures on social media, Mattel knew way before WM Axxess that 10 was it for this year. That said, I'd be real surprised if Mattel even had a Series 11 in draft form before Axxess.

Hmmm... I would definitely count that Kurt Angle as Flashback. Probably Shawn too, seeing as his last match (before the Saudi thing) was in 2010. That S3 Goldberg being a modern version, over a classic/WCW version though... shocking.

"on hiatus" is just a way of trying to soften the blow (similar to what they said about the Hall Of Champions and Flashback lines). It's done.

I don't think it was "character selection" that made this line not produce enough...people got sooooo stuck on the name "retro" they wanted to think it was just supposed to be about everyone from the Hasbro era getting re-released or released for the first time. Hasbros were all CURRENT active superstars during the time they were being sold. The fact that we even GOT classic characters in the Retro line is pretty amazing. Because they could have just said this is a nod to the old school by making current guys in that style. I liked where the line was headed, in 2 current and 2 "flashback" guys per wave, seemed reasonable enough. The one thing that killed this line in its present form is the same thing that's being done to all the others MATTEL'S DISTRIBUTION TO MASS RETAIL IS TERRIBLE. Who'sever fault it is. It's terrible. Ringside is a huge online retailer for wrestling figures but only a small percent of people buying WWE figures are buying from Ringside, there are thousands upon thousands who just go to retail stores to buy product. Others who just use amazon. Tell me how many Retros you've found in the wild? I hit a TON of stores in my travels, and I saw Series 1 stocked once, then twice (the two different waves....with & without roman & owens), Then Series 2 online at Walmart and I might have seen a few cases in random stores but barely....those showed up at Marshalls. Series 3 was nonexistent, then all of a sudden at Five Below and at Target for $12.99 which is $5 more than they should have been anywhere. They rotted at Target, and then all of a sudden Target stores were getting ONE case of Series 4 at $12.99 still. Then nothing. Walmart stocks Series 7, about 4 cases of each at every store which are now going on clearance for $7.... Series 8 one case shows up at Target stores and they've lowered the price to $9.99 (same as a Basic). And people who just shop at Walmart aren't going crazy buying Series 7 because they gave up on collecting the line since nothing has been in the stores since Series 1 and maybe some of 2. Kids dont want Angle or Sheamus, the HBK is not very good, and Jericho isn't with the company anymore. It's been an absolute disaster. From top to bottom. Nothing but confusion and cluster . THAT is where the problem is. It has absolutely nothing to do with "character selection" overall. There's been a few hiccups, but most of the Retro's they've made have been great, they covered a lot of ground in 10 sets.

I went to Target yesterday. I have every single Retro but I just wanted to see what the status was. They had one full case of Series 3 on the pegs at full price. These do not appear to have been touched since the last time I looked (October).
For fun, here are the series I saw at retail over the last couple of years:
Series 1 (Walmart) Series 2 (Walmart) Series 3 (Target) Series 5 (Kmart) Series 6 (Kmart) Series 7 (Walmart)
Never saw 4, 8, 9 and have yet to see 10 (benefit of the doubt on that one).

In the UK, the situation was far worse: Series 1 (Smyths & Entertainer - the two biggest toy shops in the UK) - this series DID NOT include Kevin Owens or Roman Reigns, they were never released in UK officially. Series 1 was reasonably scarce. Series 2: (Smyths, Entertainer + a number of other stores) - some people spotted these in national supermarkets like Sainsburys. These warmed the pegs for months on months, eventually being discounted to ridiculously low prices. A lot of stock was moved on to the discount retailer, 'Home Bargain.' Series 3: (Smyths, Entertainer + a number of other stores) - like series 2, these were abundant, even more so. They were discounted hugely really quickly, and moved on to discount store Home Bargain very quickly (they are still available in these today). This series was an absolute disaster for so many reasons. Series 4 Didn't happen in the UK via normal stores. Only 2x specialist online wrestling stores. They both proper gouged the price of Ric Flair. Series 5: Didn't happen in the UK via normal stores. Only 2x specialist online wrestling stores. They both proper gouged the price of Macho Man. Toys & Masks for example had Macho on eBay and Amazon US for $100. Series 6: Didn't happen in the UK via normal stores. Only 2x specialist online wrestling stores. Series 7: Didn't happen in the UK via normal stores. Only 2x specialist online wrestling stores. Series 8: Didn't happen in the UK via normal stores. Only 2x specialist online wrestling stores Series 9: Didn't happen in the UK via normal stores. Only 2x specialist online wrestling stores. Series 10: No signs of it yet. The ring was not available in regular stores. It was only available via Amazon and specialists retailers. For me, as I mentioned previously, the writing was on the wall after series 3. The two biggest retailers dropped the line completely. No-one was buying them. The pegs were full, the prices were low. As much as I loved them, kids didn't want them. And because of the superstar choice, collectors like me became less than enthusiastic with the choices they made.

Think how good this line could have been. Instead we were let down badly. Firstly no accessories was a major flop on there part. Then repurposing figures. Hasbro did it but it worked for them. No tag teams. No belts. Poor advertisement push. Did we see any? Not really. Finally the distribution was awful. Here in the UK it’s online based only. Every top shop should have been stocked to the ceiling. So we had a small glimpse of the toys we loved, but in reality it was a poor effort.

The repurposing worked for Hasbro because they put effort into it and did them all different, much like how we would do them today. As far as Im concerned no one had any complaints about the Hasbros, then or now. They didn't just give someone a different shirt and and say "that's good enough". After reading your post I'm really starting to think that Mattel really didn't give a sh*t about these figures at all. Like you said, no tag teams, no belts, no accessories at all besides Elias. Those things alone are a no brainer to anyone savvy to Hasbros. They had 14 acessories total in the first 3 series alone. Unfortunately I really don't think we will ever see Retros again, but IF we do then I really hope it's done right next time and falls into the right hands.

Anyone order Series 10 from amazon? Should we trust they will pull through or most likely get canceled orders again like past Series?

Wouldn't put any faith in amazon prime pre-orders for retros. I finally cancelled my series 8 pre-order sheiks from february. They were due this past week and pushed back again. I already had some but was seeing how long before theirs would ship.
