When the retro line was alive people complained about every aspect (wrong characters, wrong moves, wrong attires)
They stop the line - people complain claiming they loved it
Just sayin...

I think it's because there was always hope for improvement and the fact that the options were practically endless. No one really understood the choices they were making when they had so many. Such as not using the Roman Reigns punch mold, making 2 identical Kevin Owens, including no accessories save Elias, etc.

I guarantee if the come back people will start moaning as soon as series 1 of the new run is announced

I can only speak for myself but the Retro line is what brought me back to collecting with Mattel. I always bought as many as I could even the stars I was never too big a fan of just to add to my old original Hasbro roster/collection. Sure I had complaints and nitpicks, but I loved having the line in stores- whenever I could actually find it anyway lol. I loved the Retro line-even with the things I wanted to see added to the line, I def. didn't want it to be gone. If they actually are on hold to make them better, do what they must as long as they do indeed come back. Much as it hurts my wallet. lol

Now that some time has passed, I dont care if this line ever shows back up. Mattel really dropped the ball with this line. Very little effort put into it, and the distribution was horrible.
But.... I'd probably die if I walked into a store and seen the orange series, that would turn it all around. I just dont think this line is coming back. There is alot of potential with retros, if they get it right.

It’s coming-up to three months since SDCC I think and obviously there’s been nothing new on these in that time - the most we’ve had to motivate us has been the support of AFA for the line, but I don’t think he’s posted on them for a little while now (happy to be corrected). The podcast keeps talking about Retros, but I don’t think they’ve had any new info on them either since SDCC.
When would you guys think we lose our last bit of hope? Ringside Fest, Axxess, SDCC 2020? Are there any other events when Mattel make announcements on their products?
I know that some of the Mattel guys will be at Ringside Fest, and Bill will be at Wrestling Shop Live in London so I’m hoping folks attending those will ask about them if no announcements are made, but if we don’t hear anything new from those guys then that doesn’t do much for our hopes.

I for me, I bought the line, complained about the line, will rebuy the line if re-released and complain some more. I was the same way when I had the world's largest WWF Hasbro collection (MOC and protos). Much time has passed and many great Hasbro collections out there. Everybody is free to compliment or complain about what they collect/don't collect.

Bill already said at SDCC this year that Retros definitely won't be around in 2020. That's initially what really bummed me out was knowing it would most likely be a solid 2 years before we see them again, if we ever do. I personally dont think they will ever be back. Not by Mattel anyway.

Not by Mattel anyway. Indeed; I’m not really expecting an announcement or anything that definite, just that the lack of any new info at all isn’t confidence-building. Ideally we’d have Mattel announce at Ringside Fest a new partnership with Ringside to make this an exclusive line with them (with allowances for international retailers to get hold of them), but clearly that’s very unlikely - but some kind of update from the Mattel guys that they’re talking about the Retros internally or have some ideas lined-up, anything really would be encouraging to hear. It’s getting harder not to read the obvious into the silence...

Funny that flex force became super strykers then double attack then tough talkers then sound slammers and now the wrekkin line. Basically same figures renamed and updated. Yet retros can't be rebranded and continue ? Just shows distribution and misjudging the target market killed the Retro line.

I've always wondered why they bothered keeping that line. For kids, i know but every Target I've ever been to all they do is sit on the pegs for months and months until they go on clearance. I've seen it happen over and over again with every case they get. They literally don't move. But the Retros did. Definitely the black sheep of WWE figures imo.

It’s getting harder not to read the obvious into the silence... Yeah, that would be nice to hear "We are working on the reboot of the Retro line.." Honestly, I personally have believed since day 1 that Mattel doesn't have, nor ever had, any intentions on bringing the line back. Just a feeling. Call me negative, whatever, but I hope it's not true. Just seems that way to me. Like they didn't want to upset us too much by saying it's canceled indefinitely so they said "it's on ice" probably with hopes that we will lose interest and eventually forget about them. Again, I do hope I'm wrong but if that's what they think they've got another thing coming because I for one won't forget about this line.

Whilst I’m more than disappointed that the retro line is ‘on ice’, it’s still kind of alive for me in that I’m constantly trying to think up customs with the limited body parts we have available. And preferably without considerable painting.
Like someone else said, i hadn’t bought Wwe figures since the hasbros when I was a kid, and this line brought me in. And even into buying some basics/elites for head swaps & customs. So just seems like a complete misread on Mattel’s end to me. Especially when they churn out shelf-warming crap like the horror/mutant lines. 🤷🏻♂️

If you look at most of their lines, Mattel seems to like high details and sophistication. It's almost like when you put out figures that look good for the 1990's, it's a bastard child. Mattel likes to tout "HIGHLY DETAILS FX" and crap.
Am I explaining myself alright?

Yes I can sorta see that, but then again,no. We're getting he-man mash ups, so Mattel is still making cartoony figures.

Give Hasbro the Rights to make the WWE Hasbro line once again. This way we can get them exactly how they used to be made. They can continue where they left off.

Again, distribution and overproduction killed it. Today I saw Retros at my Target for the first time in 3 months. S8, just had 2 Ryders and 2 Braun left. I picked up the Ryders and one of the Brauns for either customs, or just to donate to the toy drive. And I assume the other Braun will be gone by tomarrow morning when I go back.
Just proves when something besides S3 or S7 shows up, they sell quick, and there's not even any sales going on at Target this week.
