I saw the same tweet. Also saw a different tweet with Wave 8 appearing at Five Below. Last year I spent the holiday season checking all the Five Belows for waves 4 and 5. This year I'm on the hunt for wave 9 (already got 8 at TJ Maxx).

Nothing by me as of yet. Just plenty of basic 95 and 96.

Went to a couple Five Belows in MA this morning, one just had a boat load of Basic 95, and the other had Basic 91, 95, Wresltemania with Cena and Elias, and a couple batches of Retro Series 8. 4 of each guy.

Here in the UK a site has the series with Daniel Bryan on sale for £8 each, but I have to be honest and say that I am kind of over this line now A couple of months ago I would have snapped them up without a hesitation, but now I am just meh on the whole thing. I like the figures I have, but man this line was a colossal miss fire.

This isn't aimed at you, but rather building on your statement that the line is a missfire, I think in the end the line has had serious ups and downs. For me, I love small figures because I am obsessed with recreating the visual of a wrestling match from a distance with the construction of rings and arenas. I also love being able to have diverse rosters and book fantasy territories using the figures as baselines for either adaptations of the depicted wrestler or new personas altogether. In terms of the figures themselves, my love of the WWF hasbro line comes from members of this very forum recalling how much fun they were and are. So when the retro line happened, I was ecstatic to participate because I could never afford hasbro figures and was always scared of breaking them. I really do feel if they have focused on making a more competitive price point, avoided the baseplates and app game, and had better distribution, the line would still be in production. I also feel they should have made women figures in the scale and giving the figures means of holding accessories would have been amazing. Considering that a decent number of accessories from the main mattel lines actually fit with the retros, most importantly the title belts, I think they could have done much better to have included belts; even if you only included the low quality all gold belts with minimal paint details. To do that would have made younger collectors more inclined to try this new line. The single biggest missfire of the whole line in my opinion was the face sculpts for the New Day. They look like racist caricatures or the figures are having orgasms and they're altogether horrifying. Also the choice of the pink attire was just terrible. They should have gone with blue or orange or any color but pink.

When I first laid my eyes on that Retro Goldberg back in 2017, it was the first *sigh* I had with that line. Toothless grandpa.

Nah, they were spot on. You have seen them in gyrating in promos and the ring right.

Not sure how many here have been following the “Q&A with Steve” thread, but he’s answered a few questions on the Retros throughout (not just from me; well, mostly from me, but not only me ), including a couple today.

Nice one for keeping them talking about retros! It sounds like he’s trying to resurrect the line; and that it might even have a better legends focus. Let keep hoping & praying 🤞🏻🙏🏻

I stopped at 2 Five Belows today. Outside of both carrying B92 & B93, one of the stores had a full set of S8.

Seen some online reports of series 9 appearing at Five Below. I saw two full sets of 9 at nine below in Cookeville TN yesterday. I took one set and an extra Orton and Joe. Still need a set 8

I have been able to get most of the late sets online. Ordered Diesel from the RSC Black Friday sale but no JYD. He is the last one from the tail end of the collection I need. If that Wal-Mart post is to be believed, that would make me feel better - unless people scoop them up for resale given they are listing around $40 everywhere I am looking now.

I loved this line when it was first revealed. The Hasbro WWF figures were my first toys and I made it a mission to collect the line MOC. It lasted for the first five series because the quality of both the names and the figures started to decline severely. I realized that as much as I loved the line, I in fact did not care about having Hasbro style versions of Sami Zayn or Finn Balor or Seth Rollins or the majority of the current stars, to be frank. I loved a lot of the legends figures they put out. NWA Flair was great, Sheik and JYD were amazing. Goldust was tremendous. But they weren't all perfect. Shawn sucked, Angle sucked, Diesel sucked (more on this in a minute), Series 9 Savage was LAZY. Notice that all of those guys listed were in the later series. It's clear they stopped caring about the quality when last year came around.
The lead up to series 10 was strange because we heard NOTHING about a new wave, whereas with all the previous ones we basically knew what was coming. I knew some were getting worried about the line getting tabled and I honestly was 100% at peace with the line being done the second I saw that Diesel. That head sculpt is horrendous and it looks like Scott Norton suffering from a severe case of UFC Jakks Big Head Syndrome. As I stated, JYD was fantastic but then you look at the Elias and Matt Hardy figures and it's just like...who is this line even for? Do kids actually want these? Do older collectors actually care about having an Elias in this style?
I feel like had they tried to do the line where the first series was modern stars with two legends being swapped in on case refreshes and then just continued doing legends and only making exceptions for the big name current stars, things might have been better off. We didn't need two Kevin Owens. We didn't need that Sami Zayn or that half assed Sheamus. We didn't need series 9 to be three guys with ostensibly the same action feature. For every good thing about this line, there was an equal amount of stuff that felt half assed or like they weren't listening.
If the line does come back, it has to be legends centric. It has to feature more than just the clothesline and the jumper and the double arm wham action. Anything else is going to send it plunging back down to where the line ended up.

Really, they should have used the Basic/Elite heads. Mattel tried for that Hasbro "cartoony" look, but most looked bad. Hasbros had a perfect blend of realism vs cartoony. But I've done simple head swaps that made the worst of that line become the best.

I agree with all of this 100%. I think most of us do. However, that said, it's all been ranted about on here many times over. I personally dont think the line is ever coming back, and if it does then it will again be half-assed and brief. Most likely because one of Mattel's other little pet projects fails miserably (MOTU, etc). Not a single person from Mattel has ever specifically said the line was coming back and they also seem to intentionally make sure they always say "if it comes back" in every question asked. Seems a little suspicious to me. No one wants this line back "new and improved" more than me, but if I had to guess right now then my money would be on it not coming back at all. You can call that negative thinking, whatever. But it's just a feeling I've had all along since they shut it down. You said it yourself it seemed like they didn't care about the line at all towards the end, and they didn't, which I think aggravated a lot of us who looked forward to them all being released. I also agree that they pretty much got it all wrong from who to make down to all the same body molds being almost laughable. My biggest issue with them was the distribution. It was nothing short of ridiculous. Where I lived at the time we didn't even see series 4, 5, or 6 (i guess a lot of people didnt). But yet we get bombarded with series 3 at Target- which some still have loaded shelf full of them- and series 7...don't even get me started. I still cant believe how mass produced those were, and it was one of their worst series' to date. I'm just gonna stop there. I fully agree though, they should have made more legends and less KO and Sami Zayn figures. If it continued then I am certain we'd be on here wondering why there are so many series 11 or 12 AJ Styles on the walmart shelves.

Have there been any other Wallyworld sightings of series 10 ? Seems fishy that they would be available there after the huge series 7 clearance.
