Before we make our way to the ring, we’re backstage, in an impromptu photography studio.
Lila Sleater: Of course you deserve this. You’re as much of a champion as either of those two bone heads.
Mesh: Well, just know that it means a lot to me to be asked. I can’t believe I’m really going to be all over the SuperBrawl promo!
There’s a knock at the door.
Lila Sleater: Come in.
In comes Frank Lynn, his usual bubbly and fun self.
Lila Sleater: Ah Frank. Thanks for getting here on time. More than can be said of our…..other champion.
Frank Lynn: Can we just get on with it? We’ve both got a long night ahead.
Lila Sleater: Of course. I get that. Unfortunately he who shall not be named doesn’t seem to share your sense of urgency.
Frank Lynn: So can’t we just start without him?
Lila Sleater: I hardly think it makes sense to take promo shots of my champions without the most important one…..sorry. No offense to either of you. I didn’t mean him, I meant the championship itself. Again……no offense.
Mesh: None taken!
Frank Lynn just mumbles under his breath.
Lila Sleater: Where the hell is he? We’re supposed to get this done before the show starts.
Lila takes out her phone and starts to call. All 4 of them (there’s a photographer there as well) are suddenly drawn to the door though as a phone starts to ring on the other side of it. Lila walks over and opens it to reveal Drakz standing there, his nose practically pressed against the wood.
Lila Sleater: Jesus!
She jumps a little, not expecting him to be quite so close to her.
Drakz: I’m not the son of God. I’m a very naughty boy.
Mesh legit gets a bit giddy as the importance of the situation sinks in.
Lila Sleater: Shut up and get inside. You’re late.
Drakz: I’m late.
Frank Lynn: Of course he f*cking is.
Drakz: Here, hold this.
Drakz surprises Frank by tossing the WFWF World Heavyweight Championship through the air. Frank catches it and is a little unsure what to do with it. He wants to throw it down because it belongs to Drakz, but equally he respects the belt……just not the man who’s name is on it. He looks down at the title than steely eyed at the champ.
Drakz pays him no mind and takes off his jacket, before throwing this at Lynn as well. That’s enough for Frank though, who drops both.
Frank Lynn: What the f*ck is wrong with you?!
Drakz: I’m sorry?
Frank Lynn: You keep us waiting and now you’re throwing your sh*t at me like some bell boy. Do I really need to smash a fourth person’s head in tonight?
Drakz address Lila.
Drakz: Is there a reason this bell boy is acting out?
Frank squares up to Drakz and Lila has to very quickly intervene.
Lila Sleater: Gentlemen. Please! Christ, why is it only the women in here that can keep their emotions in check for more than 2 minutes.
Mesh: Yeah, why can’t you be a bit more like me?
Mesh says this with a smirk on her face, knowing she might be pushing some buttons. Drakz looks over Lynn’s shoulder and Mesh throws up a couple of peace signs.
Drakz: You’re less of a goof, that’s for sure. Come on let’s get this over with.
Drakz scoops up the championship and the three champions of WFWF head over to the backdrop.
Mesh: Don’t worry Frank, I’ll be sure to beat him, when I win tonight, and get my shot at his title.
She jabs an elbow into Lynn’s ribs and winks at him. Frank’s blood boils but he keeps his cool.
Drakz: I’ll act like I didn’t hear that ‘Blue’.
Mesh pulls a “whoops” face at Frank and the three of them turn to face the photographer’s set up.
Lila Sleater: So I’m thinking we have Frank and Drakz stood next to each other and Mesh in front of them.
Of course Mesh’s eyes light up.
Mesh: That sounds…..awesome!
Drakz: Shouldn’t I be in the front, you know, holding the title that’s being defended in the main event?
Frank Lynn: Remind us Drakz, how long have you held that title?
Drakz goes to open his mouth but Lynn cuts him off.
Frank Lynn: And don’t give us that 851 days and counting bull sh*t. I mean really. How long since you won it back from Shannon?
Lila Sleater: Frank….
Frank Lynn: What? It seems to me that Drakz is the shortest reigning champion in this photo, so maybe he should just do what he’s damn well told?
Drakz kisses his teeth, and Sleater can’t help but smirk though knowing that this must be getting under Drakz’s skin.
Drakz: Frank……why don’t you pull whatever crawled up your arse and died, out?
And they’re at it again.
Frank Lynn: Drakz….why don’t you tell me what makes you think you deserve to stand in front of a champion who has taken on all comers, and actually wrestles EVERY week?!
Drakz: Need I remind you Frank that you’ve still never come close to beating me?
Frank Lynn: I’m not talking about me.
Mesh blushes.
Lila Sleater: You know what? This was a terrible idea. Dennis, I’ll send them to you one at a time and you can just photoshop them together. Screw this.
Lynn just straight up and leaves without saying a word.
Drakz: Sweet. See y’all later. And “Blue"…..I’d keep an eye on Frank’s hands. I think he’s sweet on you.
Drakz follows now and we’re left with Mesh ready and keen for her photo to be taken right away.

Drakz follows now and we’re left with Mesh ready and keen for her photo to be taken right away.
We then see The Grand Canyon in a beautiful panning shot, time-lapsed as the bright Arizona sun turns to darkness in the blink of an eye.
The sky then starts to crackle as lightning bolts leave streaks in the darkness where the image of Tugarin Zmey appears, destroying his opponents in video form reels behind him albeit briefly before fading away...
Then...
In the House, In a Heartbeat starts to play as more lightning appears, except this time - it's Tyler Draven, looking just as menacing as clips of Draven in action play behind him before he too dissipates into the sky...
Then, Mesh; the Vanguard Knight breaks through the cracks with her colorful energy and one-of-a-kind look, replaying some of her biggest moments until another crack etches its way across the black canvas in the sky - Frank Lynn; highlights from his most recent wins play behind him...
Only one of these competitors will get the opportunity of a lifetime just one month away from "The Biggest Show of the Year" - SuperBrawl X.
Will it be Tugarin Zmey, who's been unstoppable since being freed from the grips of Michael Kyzer?
Will it be Tyler Draven, the once-undefeated wrestler with the biggest chip on his shoulder?
Will it be Mesh, the Vanguard Knight and the most popular wrestler in the entire gauntlet who continues to shut down the naysayers show after show?
Or will it be Frank Lynn, the Lethal Weapon and the most dominant International Champion of this generation?
The night becomes the day and in more time-lapsed footage, we go from The Grand Canyon to the Talking Stick Resort where banners of tonight's competitors hang freely as the camera then zooms inside where hundreds of thousands of WFWF fans are getting ready for the big show.
For some, SuperBrawl X is the end and for whoever wins tonight - it will be the beginning...
BOOM! POW! BANG!
Alecia Matthews: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to AriZona Sunshine! We are just one month away from SuperBrawl X, the biggest show of the year! I'm Alecia Matthews and as always, I am joined by my broadcast partner, Daniel Knight!
Daniel Knight: Hey now! You've heard of Christmas in July? Well here at AriZona Sunshine, it's Halloween in April! I'm excited to be here and I'm even more excited about tonight's show! These fans are rapid and hungry for the action that they will witness here at the Talking Stick Resort Arena!
Alecia Matthews: Indeed! Four of the best wrestlers in the WFWF today will compete in a round-robin style gauntlet where the winner will get a shot at the WFWF World Heavyweight Championship!
Daniel Knight: That's all? Seriously though - it's not everyday that a world title shot is just...given- well, that's not true. Penny Shannon was just...given a world title shot but these four - Zmey, Draven, Mesh and Lynn all have to earn it and you can bet that it's going to be worth it for whoever wins!
Alecia Matthews: Right you are and I'm pretty sure I know exactly who this crowd is going to be rooting for.
Daniel Knight: Go, Mesh go!
Alecia Matthews: Whatever happens here tonight, it's all going to lay the foundation for after SuperBrawl and I cannot wait to see who it is that's left standing!
Daniel Knight: Go, Mesh go!
Alecia Matthews: Speaking of Mesh...
Lila Sleater: Ladies, thank you both for accompanying me to the ring with little issue.
The fans are chanting ‘LET THEM FIGHT’ as the camera pans and we see Mesh, the Vanguard Champion, and Anna Ahriman on opposite ends of a table, a sheet of paper in the middle.
Lila Sleater: For those at home not in the loop, this signifies an official contract signing! After…erm…discussing…this with both Mesh and Anna Ahriman, all involved parties, myself included, have decided that the best course of action is to have Mesh and Anna Ahriman settle their differences in the middle of the ring. At SuperBrawl.
The fans pop.
Anna picks up the microphone adjacent to her.
Anna Ahriman: Oh quit with the civilities, Lila. They’re unbecoming of a power hungry c***waffle like yourself.
The fans chuckle, even though they hate Lila.
Anna Ahriman: Tell everyone the truth, Lila. You’re only making this match official to save your own hide. Twice now, you have screwed me out of an opportunity for revenge. Once against Mesh, and another against Katharsis. You know I would turn this place on its head to get what I want if you did not grant this match-up to me.
Mesh grabs her own mic.

Mesh: Well of course, Anna. Mothers always give into the crybabies who don’t get their way.
Anna Ahriman: You shut the f*** up before you don’t make it to SuperBrawl. The only reason your head is still attached right now is because I am merely waiting for a bigger stage to rip it off. The people here don’t deserve to see it. Hell, neither does Dallas, but beggars can’t always be choosers, ya know?
Mesh: You talk a lot for someone who couldn’t even get past a semi-retired indy wrestler. No offense, Kat. Love you!

Mesh: You talk a lot for someone who couldn’t even get past a semi-retired indy wrestler. No offense, Kat. Love you!
Mesh waves to the camera.
This is the WFWF. The cream of the crop. The best professional wrestling has to offer. Then there’s you. Here based on her last name. I can’t blame the WFWF for giving you a chance, but this place is gonna run you down just like it did your dad. Into nothing. Because Anna, you’re no Samael. You’re no Penny. You’re no Scarlett. And you sure as hell ain’t no Malakai!
Anna clenches her jaw. Lila looks petrified that one of her marquee matches isn’t going to make it to SuperBrawl when, to her surprise, Anna just leans back in her seat and smiles.
Anna Ahriman: Lila, if you’d be a dear and continue on with your grandstanding to these people. I want them to know exactly what they’re paying for.
Lila looks bewildered.
Lila Sleater: …ok, fair enough. Ladies and gentlemen, this contract signing is for the Vanguard Championship match at SuperBrawl. The match will be one fall to a finish, and there must be a winner. No interference from anyone on the WFWF payroll. This is an ULTRAVIOLENT PLAYGROUND MATCH!
The fans pop with delight! This is delightful!
Anna Ahriman: Aaaand?
Mesh cocks her head sideways, wondering what else Anna wants. She looks to Lila, who sighs.
Lila Sleater: I’m sorry Mesh. It was the only way.
Mesh: No worries, I like hardcore!

Anna and Lila look at Mesh with a confused look on their faces as the crowd laughs. Mesh quickly realizes her mistake.
Mesh: I mean - like, hardcore matches and such.
The crowd laughs.
Anna Ahriman: She means the special referee.
Mesh: …what?
“HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA” blares through the PA system, as CAMERON STONE WALKS THROUGH THE CURTAIN!
Anna Ahriman: And the special referee for the Vanguard Championship match, Cam Stone!
The fans boo, knowing this was Anna’s idea thanks to the context clues from Lila.
Mesh: You just love making people suffer, don’t you?
Anna Ahriman: What can I say? It’s what I do best!
Anna signs her name on the paper and stands next to Mesh, who’s ready for a fight. But she does not get one.
Anna Ahriman: Mesh. Ahriman. Vanguard. Referee is Stone. See you on the playground, Ramona Flowers.
Anna makes her exit, leaving Lila Sleater and Mesh alone in the ring.
Lila Sleater: Now with that out of the way, how about we get things going here tonight? The reason all of you are here!
The crowd pops!
Lila Sleater: Mesh.....good luck!
Sleater takes her leave as Mesh takes off her replica red, white and blue sweater that Keith Flint wore in the Firestarter video, waiting for the arrival of her opponent...
The lights go out as a figure emerges on the stage with bright white lights, completely eclipsing the figure drawing oohs from the crowd. It’s Tyler Draven as he walks hurriedly to the ring.
Daniel Knight: I’ve been looking forward to this one! It’s the first time Tyler Draven and Mesh are set to square off so who knows what we’re going to see here!
Alecia Matthews: These two have more to prove than guys like Zmey and Lynn so you can pretty much guarantee that they are going to pull out all the stops!
He makes his way into the ring, brushing past the fans as he jumps onto the ring apron and steps between the ropes.
Christa Adina: Introducing first, from Los Angeles, California, weighing in at one hundred and eighty pounds… Tyler Draven!
Boos from the crowd.
Christa Adina: And his opponent, from Los Angeles, California, weighing in at one hundred and forty-four pounds, she is the WFWF Vanguard Champion, Mesh!
Cheers from the crowd.
She does a quick pose for the crowd; hands up in the air as she stands atop the turnbuckle!
After jumping off from the turnbuckle, she dances in the middle of the ring and then stops which results in the crowd going nuts!
Draven watches on, stretching in the corner.
DING! DING! DING!
Daniel Knight: Oh! A staredown! I love these!
Alecia Matthews: Assuming by the look on his face, I’m going to say that Draven isn’t a fan of Mesh.
Daniel Knight: But my girl, Mesh doesn’t care because she isn’t backing down either!
Alecia Matthews: Notice how serious Mesh is right now? Even she knows what’s at stake in this gauntlet.
Daniel Knight: Because Mesh is going to winnnnnnn!
Alecia Matthews: Now, of course since this is a round-robin style gauntlet there are some rules that the competitors are going to have to follow. Here they are for those watching at home:
Daniel Knight: Oooooh, a point-based system? One point for every wrestler?
Daniel Knight: Oooooh, a point-based system? One point for every wrestler?
Alecia Matthews: That's correct! For example - if Mesh wins all three of her matches - that's three points but if Mesh beats Draven and Lynn and loses to Zmey, she'll have two points.
Daniel Knight: Got it! It's like what they do in sports!
Alecia Matthews: What are you saying? That professional wrestling isn't a sport?
The two combatants circle around the ring, each one not taking their eyes off one another. The crowd is unrelenting in their support of Mesh!
Alecia Matthews: What are you saying? That professional wrestling isn't a sport?
The two combatants circle around the ring, each one not taking their eyes off one another. The crowd is unrelenting in their support of Mesh!
They lock up, Draven overpowering his much smaller opponent, shoving her into the corner.
The crowd didn’t like that.
Mesh dusts herself off and gets up, locking up with Draven once again. The two jockey for position, Draven getting Mesh into the corner.
SMACK!
A Brutal Bob Evans knife edge chop across the chest of Mesh sends her scurrying down the ropes but her opponent is hot on the trail!
Stiff kicks to the gut are enough to take Mesh down.
Draven picks her up, drilling her with a knee to the stomach before shooting her off into the ropes!
He runs towards her and takes her down with a running forearm smash to the face!
Draven stomps away at his opponent before picking her up, sending her into the ropes as he turns around and kicks Mesh right in the gut again!
He bounces off the ropes, going for a running clothesline – but Mesh ducks!
Daniel Knight: Pelé Kick!
Mesh runs towards Draven and with a baseball slide, kicks him to the outside!
The crowd continues to show Mesh love and support and the Vanguard Knight feels it.
She again runs the ropes, leaps over the third rope and crashes onto Draven below with a beautiful plancha!
Daniel Knight: Mesh bringing the fight to Draven here!
Alecia Matthews: She’s going to have to do more than just that tonight because the odds are certainly stacked against her. Nobody expects Mesh to get far. Mesh has beaten Penny and she shocked everyone when she beat Daphne – but beating guys like Tyler Draven, Frank Lynn and Tugarin Zmey – all in one night?
Daniel Knight: I agree with you but let me remind you as Mesh’s historian: nobody expected her to win the World Domination Tournament. Nobody expected her to beat someone like Penny F’N Shannon and certainly, nobody expected her to beat Daphne Velasquez.
I think it’s safe to say that underestimating Mesh is a big mistake.
Alecia Matthews: Listen, I’m a fan of Mesh too but well - call me a realist.
Mesh is the first to her feet and goes to pick up Draven by his 2007 MySpace hair but he retaliates, sending Mesh back first against the ring apron – the hardest part of the squared circle, you know?
SMACK!
Another knife edge chop to Mesh’s chest!
Knee to the gut and Draven sends Mesh flying into the barricades!
Referee Lexington Steele warns the two about taking the fight inside the ring, but Draven is where he’s most comfortable: brawling on the outside.
Alecia Matthews: Tyler Draven is throwing Mesh around with authority all over ringside!
Daniel Knight: I think, deep down – Tyler Draven feels like he should’ve been the first ever Vanguard Champion and now, he’s taking out his frustrations out on Meshie.
Forearm shots to the face of Mesh before Draven throws her back inside the ring. As he approaches Mesh, she hits him in the gut!
He eats that punch for breakfast, returning the favor with a punch of his own.
But Mesh punches him back!
Daniel Knight: She’s fighting back! My girl is fighting back!
Alecia Matthews: Not for long! Draven just drilled Mesh in the face with a running knee!
Daniel Knight: What is it with people always going for Mesh’s face? Seriously.
Alecia Matthews: Well, let’s hope that Draven didn’t break her nose or anything. She cannot afford to get injured or whatever when the stakes are this high!
No worries, Mesh is fine. Her face just hurts, you know?
She crawls away but Draven grabs her boot, pulling her towards the center of the ring –
But with a mule kick, Mesh sends her opponent into the ropes which allows Draven to follow up with a dropkick to the gut!
She’s hurt!
Daniel Knight: Best Foot For-nope!
Alecia Matthews: Discus forearm by Mesh! What a counter!
Draven takes a knee, Mesh kicks him in the chest.
1!
2!
3!
4!
5!
6!
7!
8!
9!
Mesh winds it up –
Daniel Knight: Stop, pop and lock it! Yeah!
She goes for the tenth and final kick, but Draven blocks the shot, kicking her the gut again! He picks her up and runs in the corner with a buckle bomb!
As Mesh recovers, Draven leaps into the air and drives into the mat with a running bulldog from behind!
Draven hooks the leg.
As Mesh recovers, Draven leaps into the air and drives into the mat with a running bulldog from behind!
Draven hooks the leg.
1!
2!
Mesh kicks out!
Mesh goes to crawl away but -
Alecia Matthews: Camel Clutch by Draven!
Daniel Knight: Oh God, look at the way her spine is bending!
If Mesh were to get confused for being a contortionist, it would be understandable.
Draven is really wrenching on her neck, pulling as far back as he can.
Referee Lexington Steele is in great position, asking the Vanguard Knight if she wants to quit.
He must be new at the WFWF because everyone knows that Mesh is one to never quit.
The crowd fuels The Mesh Train with their good vibes and energy –
GO, MESH GO!
GO, MESH GO!
GO, MESH GO!
GO, MESH GO!
Draven bears his teeth, cranking back on Mesh’s neck as she struggles to get to the ropes, her only way to freedom!
Well, not the only way…
Mesh manages to grab onto Draven’s thighs, slowly inching herself forward…
Alecia Matthews: Mesh has managed to get out from under Draven!
Draven’s smart though, he knows what Mesh had in mind, so he immediately transitions to a side headlock position!
Daniel Knight: Oh! Look at Mesh! She rolls out of that headlock!
Alecia Matthews: Impressive display of chain wrestling by both Tyler Draven and Mesh.
Daniel Knight: Arm drag by Draven! Monkey flip by Mesh!
Draven grabs Mesh’s arm, twisting and turning it behind her back with a hammerlock but she quickly reverses the hold and dropkicks Draven from behind, leaving him sprawled against the ropes!
Daniel Knight: Tiger Feint Kick!
Mesh lands on the apron on the opposite side where she jumps onto the third rope, going for a springboard Shooting Star Press –
But Draven dropkicks her off the third rope, sending her crashing and burning to the outside; her back bumping into the barricades!
But Draven dropkicks her off the third rope, sending her crashing and burning to the outside; her back bumping into the barricades!
HOLY S**T!
HOLY S**T!
HOLY S**T!
HOLY S**T!
Mesh appears lifeless on the outside while Draven catches his breath.
Daniel Knight: That was a nasty fall!
Alecia Matthews: This doesn’t look good for her.
The referee goes to check on Mesh but yet, doesn’t stop the match.
Daniel Knight: Wait, the referee is letting the match go on?
Alecia Matthews: Apparently so.
Mesh starts to come to, albeit slowly.
Very slowly.
She makes her way back inside the ring where Draven immediately continues to assault, stomping away at her and mounting her, punching Mesh in the face!
She manages to get to the ropes, forcing Draven to break the hold.
While on her hands and knees, Draven kicks her right in the gut!
SMACK!
Mesh winches and twitches on the mat, grasping at her stomach.
Like a shark in the water, Draven sees blood.
He pounces, putting the boots to Mesh’s potential injury.
Followed by elbow drops right on her stomach!
Daniel Knight: She’s hurt!
Alecia Matthews: Yup and Draven knows it. He’s not going to let up now!
Each move causes Mesh to yelp!
Alecia Matthews: Paradise Lost! Draven has that guillotine choke locked in!
Daniel Knight: He has his legs wrapped around Mesh’s stomach, which is seriously hurt! I don’t like this!
Despite the crowd’s best effort, Mesh is trapped!
She has nowhere to go, and Draven’s hold is only getting tighter…
And tighter…
And tighter…
She reaches for the ropes, but she can’t!
Mesh even tries using her legs as they flail all about but to no avail.
Daniel Knight: She’s – she’s trying to roll out of danger!
Alecia Matthews: That’s certainly…umm….unique.
In an almost comedic spot, Mesh and Draven roll around the ring like one giant ball, yet Draven still manages to hold on!
Alecia Matthews: Well, that’s certainly one way to escape a submission maneuver.
By that, she means roll to the outside of the ring, sending both wrestlers bumping onto the floor.
Draven is the first one up, hovering over his opponent. Grabbing Mesh by her blue locks, he bashes her head against the steel ring steps!
By the hair again, he then throws her into the barricades!
Daniel Knight: I’m not liking Mesh’s chances.
Alecia Matthews: I agree with you, this is getting hard to watch.
He picks her up again by the hair and throws her back inside the ring. While she recovers, Draven waits patiently…
Alecia Matthews: Look at Draven, stalking Mesh like a snake in the grass….
Daniel Knight: No disrespect but Mesh was seriously outwrestled by Draven. This was kinda embarrassing.
Draven picks Mesh up by her knees, going for the 3D –
But she counters!
Daniel Knight: OH MY GOD! HOW?!
Alecia Matthews: Tiger Feint Kick! Can Mesh do it?
Daniel Knight: Yes, she can! YES! SHE! CAN!
With the hot crowd behind her, Mesh stands on the apron, ready to end this!
She jumps onto the third rope, going for the Springboard Shooting Star Press –
But Draven rolls out of harms way as Mesh lands on her feet!
Due to the pain from her ribs, she falls forward…
Alecia Matthews: Best Foot Forward! Best Foot Forward!
Daniel Knight: Oh no!
Mesh is out!
Draven hooks the leg!
1!
2!
3!
DING! DING! DING!
Boos and groans from the crowd.
Christa Adina: Here is your winner….Tyler Draven!
Daniel Knight: Mesh gave it her all, but it just wasn’t enough.
Alecia Matthews: Right you are but she still has two more chances to get back in this thing!
Draven doesn’t celebrate, smile or anything – he immediately sits in the corner and catches his breath.
Alecia Matthews: What a great yet surprising beginning for this packed show!
Daniel Knight: Tyler Draven is heading into the gauntlet with one point to his name, but anything can happen tonight! I’m still hoping for Mesh to make that comeback.
Alecia Matthews: It’s certainly going to be quite the hill for Mesh as she’s set to face Frank Lynn and Tugarin Zmey…tonight!
Daniel Knight: Frank has beaten Mesh before, but she was still a newbie then. She’s the first ever Vanguard Knight in WFWF history and she has beaten big names since then.
Alecia Matthews: Daphne Velasquez and Penny Shannon who went on to beat Drakz for the WFWF World Heavyweight Championship!
Daniel Knight: For one, hot minute. The King soon retook his throne and here we are!
Alecia Matthews: Indeed but in just a month - we'll be in Dallas for SuperBrawl X!
Daniel Knight: The big show!
Alecia Matthews: Yup, and it's shaping up to be one of the best!
The announce team run down the matches announced for SuperBrawl X so far, giving the crowd - as well as the wrestlers some breathing room.
