I've tried to avoid social media sites since their inception, but now with Ebay and Paypal soon making it even easier to scam sellers, I need to find a new way to peddle my little plastic men somewhere else.
•More research is needed of course, but I've read about using Stripe for payments instead of Paypal. Anyone have experience with that?
•How does selling on Instagram/Facebook/etc. work? Are there forums or clubs or something where people go to buy things? Do people on there still use Paypal, or are they using alternate payment methods? How do you protect yourself from scammers on there? Are buyers willing to send "Friends and Family" type of payments, or are they as worried about scammers as the sellers? haha
(I sell mostly customs and action figures, sometimes electronics, computer parts, etc.)

There's Mercari, which is kind of like an eBay app. There are many Facebook groups that buy/sell stuff like figures. I think most people are comfortable using friends and family payment, especially if there's someone who can vouch for you.

Cheaply. People on social media don't pay eBay prices because they know you don't have eBay fees and the overhead that most sellers do

I've bought through Mercari before, it went fine, I'm more interested in what kind of protection sellers have against scammy buyers though.
I understand about lower expected prices. I usually offer a 5% discount to people on ebay if they just pay me directly with paypal, and often they're okay with it. Half off is silly though lol
Instagram hasn't gotten me much traffic, I think you have to load every post with tags for that to be useful, but I just don't have the patience to type up 100 tags for each post.

I promise, people on Facebook marketplace or the like are looking for flea market prices. Otherwise things sit forever and you may never get serious interest.

Cheaply. People on social media don't pay eBay prices because they know you don't have eBay fees and the overhead that most sellers do Their fees are outrageous. Ever wonder why shipping is so overpriced on some items? It's because the seller is making up for the insane fees. They charge you for every photo, every time you relist and so on. My aunt gave up selling on eBay because of this.

Marketplace on Facebook seems like the way to go these days. Craigslist has become a ghost town, the likes of which I haven't seen since my last visit to MySpace.

FB Groups is the best place to sell stuff and you only have to worry about Paypal which takes a small fee, but it's a lot better than eBay taking 10%. Plus if it the deals goes wrong, you can always shame the buyer/seller and their reputation will be forever known on FB and other FB groups, so scammers don't get away with it and stay banned. I only use eBay to buy things, but not to sell.

I’ve been trying to sell a barely used table that is worth 6k for only $500.
Everyone keeps wanting to chew me down to $100 Idiots are also asking if we can meet somewhere they can see it. What am I suppose to set up a 100lb 8 piece kitchen table in the parking lot of a Wendy’s?
