Facebook market is full of flakes(send you a message and never respond after that) or people asking for stuff dirt cheap/free(legit had people ask if they could just have something I had listed for $25)

I've been selling on ebay for 10 years and rarely have problems. If I said I have one problem a year with a buyer that is rare. I try selling large, pick up only items on craigslist and a site called "nextdoor" but get no interest, buys or even offers. Ebay gets me the best prices and there is definitely a protection for sellers even if it is as simple as scammers leave the site on their own quickly.

How does selling on Instagram/Facebook/etc. work? Are there forums or clubs or something where people go to buy things? Do people on there still use Paypal, or are they using alternate payment methods? How do you protect yourself from scammers on there? Are buyers willing to send "Friends and Family" type of payments, or are they as worried about scammers as the sellers? haha If you accept too many friends and family payments on pay pal you may be flagged and your privileges suspended. It's probably ultimately so they get their cut but they can portray it as buyer protection and I've seen many horror stories on facebook of people sending sellers friends and family and not getting the items.

I've heard (but not experienced - so take that for what it is worth), that if you use friends and family, it's trivial for a buyer to contact their bank/credit card and dispute the charge and there isn't much (if anything?) PayPal can do about it. So take that for what it's worth. The safest would probably still be to use goods and services and be sure to add tracking to each PayPal transaction if you use it. Yeah, you have to pay a fee, but are supposedly covered by PayPal for seller protection.

I’ve been trying to sell a barely used table that is worth 6k for only $500. Everyone keeps wanting to chew me down to $100 Idiots are also asking if we can meet somewhere they can see it. What am I suppose to set up a 100lb 8 piece kitchen table in the parking lot of a Wendy’s? I'll pay $125 and meet you in a Taco Bell parking lot.

I can't decide if they're just clueless, a potential murderer, yanking your chain, or someone who has never been told no before.

Put it up on Craigslist and got nothing but replies trying to barter. One lady offered electronics, another offered maid service. But one dude, he offered my choosing of baby boas, pythons and bearded dragons. He was extremely adamant and kept emailing me pictures and offering up more reptiles. At one point it was a two year old rat snake, 2 bearded dragons and newly hatched boa. That was the last time I ever posted anything for sale of craigslist.

One way I’ve been trying is joining Facebook groups that do a raffle format and I’ve had good luck with that so far

Nothing bud random ass crap for sale and trade, yet none of them know how to go about doing either. Best thing I saw was a guy selling a boat, but the picture of it was taking from a second story window, through a dirty screen.

The answer to this question is simple..... you don't sell stuff on social media. Because everyone is too freaking cheap to buy anything now.
I could easily write a book on my experiences in selling stuff online. From either Kijiji (I believe that is our Canadian version of craiglist) to Facebook sale groups, to now the new Facebook Market that is out.
Ten years ago, I could sell a group of 40 wrestling figures for $50. Today, I could sell a group of 60 wrestling figures for only $20, and I would still probably get asked if I could give them a deal, as if $20 for everything wasn't a good enough deal already.
But it's not just wrestling, I find this with Lego I sell, or hockey cards I sell, or even Funko Pops I no longer want.
Selling online now is not an easy thing to do. There is no more such thing as, "quick cash" because stuff will just sit on your sites. Or you get people messaging you about it, and never come through with buying it.
So again, to answer your question, nobody sells anything on social media, because nothing sells anymore.

The urgency of promotion in social networks no one else raises questions. Today, there is probably no single company that would not be represented on social networks. Social network helps to expand the base of potential customers, likes and followers are also important. Here freetiktok.com/ you can find out how to get them for free.

I've tried to avoid social media sites since their inception, but now with Ebay and Paypal soon making it even easier to scam sellers, I need to find a new way to peddle my little plastic men somewhere else. •More research is needed of course, but I've read about using Stripe for payments instead of Paypal. Anyone have experience with that?
•How does selling on Instagram/Facebook/etc. work? Are there forums or clubs or something where people go to buy things? Do people on there still use Paypal, or are they using alternate payment methods? How do you protect yourself from scammers on there? Are buyers willing to send "Friends and Family" type of payments, or are they as worried about scammers as the sellers? haha
(I sell mostly customs and action figures, sometimes electronics, computer parts, etc.)
On Facebook you can snap a picture of an item you wish to sell, then post that picture on the Facebook marketplace. Add a description, price, and people will message you through Facebook. Or also on Facebook. There are groups dedicated to certain products. I'm in a few wwe toy groups. I'm in a Chicago toy collector group, and a few other groups. You can snap a picture and post it on that group page. The nice thing is you avoid the Ebay fees.

I use a combination of Facebook and Kijiji. I usually price low individually, but sell on quantity. This is for lesser items only. I try to trade or sell bigger ticket items mostly on here.
3 years ago I purchased a lot of hundreds of figures from Kijiji. I spent $500 on it. I then made spreadsheets with each item included with their perceived secondary market value, including both low and high end estimates. I then used a lot of the figures to recoup the money I paid, as well as trade bait to get pieces that I wanted in my collection. I made more than double my money back and was able to finally put together a decent collection (missed a lot of figure releases due to being Canadian). Packaging guys together like Cena, Sheamus, Sin Cara, etc usually yields great results. Parents tend to be happy they aren't spending in-store prices, and something small like throwing in a short ladder or kendo sticks, or chairs from my never ending chair pile, really solidifies repeat customers for me. Kids are your bread and butter but I've also managed to identify collectors. One day I'll sell a kid basic Cena, Truth and Sheamus figures for $25. The next I'm selling E16 Nash and E10 Yoshi Tatsu to a collector for $150.
Being realistic on a return also helps. Yeah, we all see these big eBay prices being paid but if that's what you're hoping for then stick to the headache that is eBay. I get a laugh when someone is trying to sell items here, and asking eBay prices. Well I'll just go to eBay then. If you want to make actual sales, you might have to remove the ego out of it and come up with fair prices to actually move product and get your money's worth. That's just my experience anyway.
