SYE, You don't think Mattel wants to satisfy the adult collector? Then why make Iron Sheik or Harley Race? I disagree ... I think the fact that they made them shows they care ... but then there is the buyer at Walmart and what is their knowledge base on ordering these first in the series lines? Did the buyer move from women's underwear to toys? Why don't you speak for Walmart because clearly, you can for Mattel? Once again ... a collector on here is speaking for Mattel - yet has no knowledge or authority to do so but prefers to put up rolling eyes memes to mock collectors on here. What a joke! I am interested in ALL of YOU getting the figures you pursue! The days of having to hunt in stores that are not always near the collectors can change today by placing a projected figure on-line for all to see and with enough pre-sale sales Mattel makes money - Walmart and Target make money and the collectors get what they want. If there is not enough interest we would certainly factually know it here and that figure would not be produced or put in sparingly into these lines and that would put an end to the debate. That's not at all what I said. I said that the CS line was made for the express and exclusive purposes of satisfying the adult collector demographic. That is not a demographic that Mattel is actively pursuing as aggressively as Jakks did. That's not to say that the demo isn't on their radar, hence the aforementioned examples. You just answered your own question by citing a series that was made expressly and exclusively for the purposes of satisfying the adult collector demographic. That's not what Mattel is attempting to do here. Perhaps that should be what they’re attempting to do here instead of catering to children all the time....it’s the exact same reason the Wwe product is so horribly unbearable to watch these days Mattel caters to children because that demographic has comfortably positioned them as one of the top toy manufacturers in the world. If you ever want to know, in the grand scheme of things, where this line falls in relative weight to Mattel's overall product line, all you need to do is look at the summary page for any of their financial statements. Mattel has four "Power Brands" that make of the lion's share of its annual revenue and net income: Hot Wheels, Barbie, Fisher Price/Thomas & Friends, and American Girl. Everything else falls under generalized blanket catergories. Mattel knows which side of their bread the butter is on, however inconvenient that may be to you or me as collectors of one of their smaller market brands.

I agree that Mattel is not pursuing the adult line like Jakks but I thought that Mattel WWE action figure line was the most popular $$$$ action figure line??

I agree that Mattel is not pursuing the adult line like Jakks but I thought that Mattel WWE action figure line was the most popular $$$$ action figure line?? It was the top selling domestic action figure line in 2017. It's a great accolade to have achieved, but all the same, action figures are only a percentage of the overall toy market, and in the grand scheme of it all, comprise a segment of a segment of the overall market. I.E., while WWE action figures may have been the top seller in that category overall, total sales could have been dwarfed by another overall brand - say for example, Marvel, who, like WWE, has a total line that's comprised of action figures, dress up play, plush toys, etc. Use the example of a typical Wal-Mart store - of the complete toy section of the store, WWE figures were the top seller in that particular aisle. Barbie and Hot Wheels are always going to be Mattel's breadwinners. WWE is a relative drop in the bucket next to those behemoths.

I distinctly remember voting in several polls on the CS back then & them actually making what we said we wanted....the result was ALOT of legends being made that otherwise probably wouldn’t have been & they flew off the shelves....yet these days those same legends “won’t sell” unless it’s the same worn out ones they’ve made a thousand times....I don’t get today’s ways & standards at all I think we also have to remember: a Jakks CS figure in 2006 costs a LOT less to make than a Mattel Elite figure in 2019...

It's worth noting that the wording has always been "top selling," rather than top net or gross. That was also the year that you had thousands of cases of E40-43 ending up at discount retailers because it had been dead stock in their warehouses. Being the top seller in any category is definitely a good thing. But I do think the numbers were a bit inflated that year due to a large volume of product being sold at well below SRP. And at the end of the day Mattel cares far more about profit margins and net sales, and it's very likely WWE was still behind more marquee brands in those areas.
