This is only going to cause shelf warmers to warm harder. If my Walmarts ever put these in I will just buy from Amazon

How long before there's a two-week waiting period for d*mn toys?
Although , they may not be for us humans, as this would seem to strengthen my subterranean lizard people theory about exclusives...

I honestly can’t blame Walmart for this strategy because there’s so many people taking opening elite packages and taking the accessories and belts out.

You'd think if they gonna do this that they would AT LEAST have the figures neatly hanging on the shelf. Looks awful with them just thrown around in there. It's probably just as much of a pain in the ass for the workers to clean it. Someone rifles thru the figs to get what they want and then they have other people to help so they lock it up and when they DO have a spare moment to tidy by the time the realize it needs cleaning they have to go get the key and come back. In between getting the key and going back chances are a customer will stop them with a question. (I've worked retail can you tell lmao) But yeah, it sucks that people stealing stuff has lead to this. Would make me really mad if I wanted to buy a figure and no one was around to help me. Maybe if they hired more people to do some LP this wouldn't be a problem.

!!! Oh My Gosh !!! Why did Walmart do this? I've never noticed this at either the Salinas Walmarts or the Marina Walmart and so it makes me think that Walmart is doing this to stop people from stealing WWE figures. And if this happens at either of my Walmarts you can bet Walmart will no longer get my business and i'll just have to go across the street to Kmart to buy my WWE figures from now on Doctorwhofan

That's terrible. How would you even take the time to look through them? With an employee standing there with a key? That's not awkward...

People are still gonna buy them swap em out and return them My thoughts exactly. I don't think the issue is swap outs as much as straight up theft. I've been to a number of Walmarts and seen belts and accessories ripped from packages. In one Walmart, they had at least eight KO WrestleMania series figures with the U.S. Championship stolen from each.

This location has had some swaps this past year but I have never seen any Wwe figures open on the shelf there. Not saying it doesn't happen but I haven't seen it at that store.

My Walmart gets a swap very rarely. I hope they dont do it. But a few other places I can see them doing it, way to much stealing.

I honestly can’t blame Walmart for this strategy because there’s so many people taking opening elite packages and taking the accessories and belts out. Then complain to Mattel and request blister card packaging. Walmart is a billion dollar corporation that is probably nearing trillion, and now the TRU is dead, the de facto biggest brick and mortar toy store. If Walmart said to Mattel “we want elites in blister cards like basics” it would be changed within six months

All retail should be like this imo. Saves from the douchbag parentless kids from destroying the shelves. I bet it saves mucho time on zoning.

The Walmart’s here have started to put cameras above certain sections of the toys. Like right above the top row. So you can see if someone is messing with the packaging.

Eventually they'll become like Argos here in the UK. They don't trust you at all which is why they hide all their stuff in the back and you have to pick what you want from a catalogue. It's like playing a wrestling figure lottery where you pick your item from the 6 available and hope that they bring you the one that you want. It might be 6 different ones or it might be 6 John Cenas. You never know until you gamble at the game that is Argos!

It's sad, but most of the time I go to a Walmart, I find empty boxes of good figures. It seems like more are shoplifted than purchased. Makes sense to lock them up

The shelves in the pictures posted were still a mess though. Plus if there are no employees around to help out with opening the cases, they are just giving people another reason not to shop in store by adding to the hassle.

Well in Walmart's defense...it is South Philly I’m from North Philly & I’ve never seen anything like this until now. 🤦🏽♂️

I would definitely stop buying at Walmart if mine did that. It would be too much of a hassle to track someone down to help and then hope the figure I wanted was even in stock. Whenever you ask for help on things the employees always say that's not my dept. and you have to wait for someone else
