I was born in 82 and we were from WWF territory, but I had some Remcos. Just the big names like Flair, Zybyszko, etc.
Not too many as LJNs were my thing, but I did have the ring!
My only memories are seeing them at department stores of the time like Ames, Bradlees, etc. Though I suspect they would have had to be at the major toy stores too.

I never had any AWA figures, and now that I am older, I don't have any real want to have them now. I didn't watch the AWA when I was a kid, I remember seeing the AWA figures for sale in PWI Magazines, but even then I didn't care to have them. All I wanted was the rubber WWF wrestlers, and that's what I had.

I remember having Flair and Road Warriors maybe couple others but never really played with them I think they must've came from a yard sale or auction. I mostly played with the old WCW figures and the Hasbros.

I’d rather have that Precious I'd seen that photo years ago, but forgot about it. Probably tried to put it out of my head because of disappointment over what could have been. All three in that set are better/more accurate than the final product. Regal is wearing trunks instead of the odd red trunks with white leggings look and has a jacket like he actually wore. Garvin has the proper fur look, and Precious seems to be unique figure instead of a reused "She-Ra" knockoff figure from one of Remco's other lines (which I can't remember the name of right now, but it'll come to me).

I watched a ton of AWA as a kid back when I could watch 8 hours of wrestling a week (WWf, UWF, WCW, AWA, IWA and any other promotion that came and went) and read virtually every magazine the local drugstore carried.
Never got into the figures back then, but eventually bought a bunch of played with figures in lots and lusted after a ring. Once I HAD the ring in hand, I sold it off.
Still have a bunch of these stored away. My Road Warriors/Ellering and Garvin/Regal/Precious are damn near mint. The rest are not so much. I think I have 4 sets of Road Warriors in various states of accessory completion.
I guess I like them!

I was born in ‘80 in the south. So I was more of an NWA, Mid Atlantic, Florida, Mid South, WCCW kid (older bros loved wresting). But I loved WWF too
But the figures, as a kid, there was no comparison. LJN’s versus real figures I had everyone in the series except the Mat Mania releases. Freebirds, Road Warriors, Flair, Long Riders, Blackwell, Bockwinkel. A ring that was indestructible
Fun times
And from what I remember they were at Woolworth, Zayres, and some other (local?) stores. We didn’t have Wal Mart or Target back then and I don’t seem to remember if Kay Bee/K & K Toys or Kmart sold them

Cool! Zayre's was but one of several, similar type stores that popped up in the Eastern US in the 70's and 80's like Ontario, Bargain Barn, Twin Fair, Rinks, Gold Circle and Ames. Some were better than others in terms of what they carried in terms of merchandise and quality, but they were all discount stores I was in the area of at that time that had toy departments. I am not sure how many of them were in business when wrestling figures came out, but I wish they were all still in existence.

I'm always curious where people found the Mat Mania figures. Until I was an adult I was never even sure they actually existed. I knew one person who said he found them at a drugstore, but didn't say if it was a chain or local place. Everyone else I've ever known who has them picked them up on the secondary market years later.

I heard an interesting note about the AWA Remcos recently. Apparently after Buddy Rose passed away ten years ago, there was an influx of MOC Remco Buddy Rose Mat Mania figures, and they were in beautiful condition. Word is Buddy had 2-3 boxes of them in his home, and the MOC figures went up on eBay after his passing from whoever he left them to

Zack Ryder paid $1001 for a MIB Remco AWA ring, flips out when it is damaged due to a manufacturer error and blames the ebay seller. LET EM BREATHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AWA Remco is my long time collecting project. I had them when I was a little kid and they took a beating. Now I'm trying to build a collection of loose, near mint, and complete figures and it's a slow process. These were great because of the articulation, but also because they came in two packs, meaning you could get two figures for usually less than the price of one LJN. K-Mart was the go-to for these and most Remco figures in general. I also recall seeing them in Family Dollar, Venture (80s- 90s national chain), and various local shops that were still a thing before the box stores killed most of them in the 90s. I've just this week finally managed to score a perfect condition set of High Flyers, which anyone who knows these knows is TOUGH. If you're not picky about getting all the cloth goods and accessories, the first wave AWA figures are pretty easy to find. The "commons" aren't super expensive either (Martel, Baron, Zbyszko, Road Warriors, Flair). Everyone who is interested in these knows about the tail end single carded Mat Mania series, so you know those are the wallet killers of the set. There are a lot of variants in this set too, if someone is into chasing everything. Gagne Raiders with different camo patterns, Greg with alternate head, Martel with alternate head (repurposed High Flyer Brunzell head), Precious with or without "sparkles" on the arms and legs, Colon in red or orange outfit, "fat" or muscular variants (Garvin, Long Riders, Gordy), etc, etc Mattel figures are cool, Hasbro has its fans, LJN are iconic, but Remco are really what keeps me hunting these days. God I miss Venture.

Yeah, my K-Mart and Kresge's were plentiful with all the Remco figures. I could've easily gotten the entire AWA line at those stores. But only ended up getting the Battle Royal set (with the Fabulous Ones) and Zybszko/Flair. A neighborhood kid a few houses away had pretty much everyone else so I was constantly over there and I guess as a dumbass kid it never occurred to me to get more figures for myself.

Marty is really nice and surprisingly very appreciative of his fans....but Ill tell you you're gonna be surprised at just how tiny he is. He's listed at 5'11'' but Im betting hes closer to 5'8'' Well, Shawn Michaels ain't 6'1" either... im 5' 9 and Marty's taller than me by a couple of inches so I would say 5' 11ish

I got most of my rarer loose Remcos in the late 90s trading Green Card Hasbros to the US (but I still don't have the rarest releases). Early series were around in Australia in the mid-late 80s and I picked up some of these loose in the mid-90s when searching for LJNs, including Road Warrior & Ellering, Freebirds, Flair, Hansen & Blackwell , Bockwinkel, Precious, Regal & Garvin and some others. I remember seeing 3-packs alongside the LJN tag teams around late 86 into 87 and noting the huge size differential on the shelves.

Zach is a idiot. He could have sold them MOC remco figures and purchased mint out of the package figures plus made some decent cash to buy other figures . I swear he is as dumb as his character
