I have never called a hotline or did any voting at all, even though there was a point I wanted too back when Mene Gene had his WCW hotline, but glad I didn't. Let me give an example why I believe voting especially is the biggest scam in wrestling. Look at this: This was prior to the phony "press conference" which Jack Tunney decidedwho would face Ric Flair at Wrestlemania VIII. To "vote" it costs 95 cents per call. Can you believe this? Like any one of us had a say at all lmao. They already knew that it would be Hulk vs. Sid, and Flair vs. Savage. Your thoughts?

These hotlines ended up obsolete with the internet but voting there is also a scam

it was absolutely all a scam
but in a way, wrestling is a scam.
it absorbs your focus until you’re willing to support a product that has no place in reality. the way a lot of wrestlers talk about marks is really all you need to know to see that they’re still getting one over on the audience.

I like the WCW hotline around late 1994-early 1995 where the fans could vote on matches. Little did we know the shows were probably taped a month earlier!

Never wasted my time calling one of those numbers. That said what happened to the guy who was using the Mean Gene hotline as a gimmick here last year?

Of course he was gonna say that, because it was still a WWE book. It wasn't like HBK wrote an autobiography because he wanted to. I bet HBK didn't even do one once of work on that book, he was probably just asked some questions about his life and the writer did the rest.
But there is no way that HBK wasn't gonna wrestle Triple H that night. The story line was more of Benoit and Edge winning the Tag Titles again, and Edge turning on Benoit in the next few weeks.

$0.95 to "vote" is a scam, but the biggest scam of all time are the prices of the replica Championship Title Belts. Nothing will ever top this, and it only gets worse as each year passes.

So are you saying that the vote of confidence didn’t actually receive 674,383 votes with only 71,111 saying that they dig the Honky Tonk Man?

Hotlines were a ripoff. They charged x amount for the first minute and x amount for each additional minute this would add up a bill of several dollars.

I think Jericho said some of the voting was real. He mentioned in one of his books that he didnt know who he was facing at the PPV and that they had no time to plan anything out because no one knew. His books weren't WWE books either. He has no problem bashing them when it comes to it. Also, one of the writers explained the voting process. They push voters in the direction they want them to go in, without telling them specifically who to vote for. They can get into some serious legal trouble for fixing polls like that.

Bruce Pritchard confirmed that the online voting was 100% real. Vince really wanted to see what happened when the fans voted.

I'm watching Raw & Smackdown from '04 and currently the Diva Search is going on. Did anyone actually vote in that because every segment that they've been has absolutely sucked. Surely since Maria, Candice Michelle, Joy, Michelle McCool & Christy Hemme all got hired it was surely a scam.

Lex Luger time! They had a number to call back in the day to get Lex entered into the Royal Rumble. But it was just the WWF trying to make money and a feel for how the fans felt. Even when Toddy P talked about it he made it clear that the call wasn't a vote but away for Tunney to hear the fans plea.

Yah the Hogan hotline (circa 91) was $1.49 for the first minute and 0.99 for every other minute and this just to hear what his "daily message" was to the fans lol.
