Alright, after a request I'm gonna give this a try. I cleaned it up and I'm gonna unlock it. But a few notes...
1) I'm not the one who locked this in the first place. So if it gets locked again, I'll throw everyone here under the bus to save my hide.
2) I left some of the comments about knowing people that committed suicide just in case that can help someone.
3) I deleted the fighting. This isn't the place or time for it.
4) As for the affidavit, from all accounts, there is no one that can collaborate the lawyers story. And from what I understand, this is a lawyer who has attempted several lawsuits against WWE and none have even gone to court. But with all that being said, let's try to focus on her and her time with WWE in a positive light... please.
5) If you see your comment was edited by me, it's because I wanted to delete some of the fighting while keeping the positive parts of the quote left for discussion.

Thank you for going through the time and trouble to unlock the thread so we can share our memories.
The last few years have been exceptionally hard on the wrestling fans with deaths of some of our favorite wrestlers.
I can't pretend I knew much about Ashley as she came a little after I stopped watching WWE but I bought magazines and trading cards and checked message boards so I was familiar with her.
Ashley's death has haunted me since coming home from work and seeing it posted on various sites. She was a friend of a friend of mine, Nikolai Volkoff. They weren't friends like the "boys" of the 1970s, 80s or 90s but they were friends from seeing each other at autograph conventions. They first met in England where Nikolai got me a signed program with Ashley's picture in it. Many of the younger female wrestlers seemed to like Nikolai and he told me Ashley really liked him. He had a fatherly way about him and looked to the woman more as a father or a friend than a guy who wanted to get with the girls after the show. He was a dedicated husband and father for 40+ years. Generally at autograph shows the females tended to come over to Nikolai to get a photo with him.
I got to meet Ashley in late 2016 at an autograph show and though it was a very brief meeting it definitely left an impression on me. I have a photo of the three of us together and you can tell how much Ashley liked Nikolai by her leaning towards him in the photo op. I truly wish I had known Ashley based on all I've heard and read over the last week. She seemed like an honest woman with good qualities. I feel horrible for what I do believe she went through in her life and I feel horrible she felt death was the only option. Although I'm not religious or much of a believer I do believe that she is well protected now with Nikolai by her side and he will protect and care for her better than anyone in the past life was able to do for her.

Nikolai was and thankfully anymore (since he’s still with us) IS someone I’ve heard ALMOST ALL of the workers say was a sweet friendly man. He had Matt’s first WWF match Matt tweeted this. “Was told by Tony Garea that if I "mess up" the match, I’ll never be welcomed back to #WWE. Nikolai walks up & says "We do everything out there, listen to me. No pressure, I mess up every match."

I totally forgot Nikolai left us and thought he was alive and well. What does that say when we FORGET that a childhood hero in this profession is dead?

Wow, that sucks. I totally forgot Nikolai left us and thought he was alive and well. What does that say when we FORGET that a childhood hero in this profession is dead? Don't feel bad. Outside of the WWE tribute video there has been little mention of his passing since that time last year. Outside of his wrestling fame and doing autograph shows or matches every weekend, he lived a very quiet life as a family man and friend in a town pretty much unchanged by the times, almost like something out of the Andy Griffith era.

It's a shame when a wrestler dies too young. Lot's have died prematurely come to think of it.
