I went in with a pretty blank canvas on most of these guys. Thought the show was really weak up until the final 3 matches.
The Rhodes match was fantastic and easily match of the night. Great job by both guys.
I just can’t get into the bucks. Their matches feel more like synchronized swimming than wrestling. I don’t mind spot wrestling but that’s just too over the top for me. I don’t think that style works well in a tag setting. Also the false finishes were way too plentiful.
Omega and Jericho was a solid match considering where Jericho is these days. Moxley was awesome.
I was a bit skeptical going in but they hooked me enough to be interested in what’s next

The show overall was good. I was disappointed the Bucks beat Pentagon and Fenix, maybe they'll drop the belts at Triplemania. The best match IMO, as much as it pains me to say this, was Cody vs Dustin Rhodes. That match was great, the promo Cody cut after was great to announce the Rhodes Brothers vs The Young Bucks. MJF is a future star in the making. I was a fan of his in MLW, whenever he wrestled for AIW in Cleveland, hes entertained me. I see big things for him in the future. I like the AEW World Title. It gives off a combination of the IWGP Title, the UFC Title and the Mid South North American title. I loved Moxley showing up at the end, though i hate it cause now Ryan Satin will be like "You see, i told you he would show up. I told you the dice meant 25". Anyways, they got my interest more with Jon Moxley signing. Hopefully they dont sign every guy WWE releases/leaves (though i doubt WWE will release many). After the tag team match with Best Friends vs Angelico and Evans, the Super Smash Brothers showed up. I dont think Excalibur, who knew who they were, and even made mentioned that he knew them, ever mentioned who they were by name. Which BTW it's the only thing I'll criticize Excalibur for on commentary since i believe he was the MVP on commentary. I feel for those who know nothing about them, just mention who they are for the casuals watching. I thought Excalibur was great, JR sounded like he was proving a point to WWE that he should have been used more. Alex Marvez should not commentate. JR and Excalibur are good enough. Put Marvez as a backstage interviewer if you have to keep him. One more thing i did not enjoy, was Codys entrance where he took a sledgehammer and smash a throne similar to Triple Hs. AEW should not be mentioning WWE at all, even through digs. WWE should never mention AEW on TV as well. Codys entrance just made him look petty. Just focus on AEW, pretend WWE doesnt exist. Anyways, the show was great, looking forward to the future

That new Moxley promo makes me smile....the man has finally become unhinged, and I fully believe it. Can I please get Mox vs Havoc and or Janella. Then him and Hangman. Ohhhh this is gonna be fun.

What about him is “unhinged”? Honest question. That promo that he cut was something he would cut as Dean Ambrose in the WWE. The open mouth breathing, the tongue out, the words used. Including turning around to get back on track. I see no difference from the Dean Ambrose of FCW or WWE. Except the name and some barbed wire in a pre-shot vignette. Again... honest question.

Maybe it was a lot of outside feelings that I had before the promo, but the shaking, the manerisms, the emotion, the actions at DON..I felt freedom and chains breaking, and given his past character (this is Ambrose to the next level, and I liked his Ambrose stuff), you feel he is finally just going to go ape, and that is fun. I am talking forget the belt, just time to smash stuff because they bother me and I want to type crazy. Think Nick Gage type nuts. I guess I was just bringing my own outside stuff to watching it, and I didn't feel his character was ever bad, but to know someone is having fun again, it gives that extra bit of excitement to the piece. I bought what they were selling, but I know not everyone will. Eh. I know I am a mark.... VPV

Not overly impressed. A couple of solid moments aside, If we all had a few months to create, write, over produce a ppv then we'd all have a great event to show. Let's see AEW keep it up with their weekly show. Let's see how well they draw in smaller towns, or are they just going to hit the major markets? Let's see if they can even outdraw TNA with talent that almost everyone not "in the know" can recognize.
And by god, take Jim Ross out of commentary. The old guy just sounds like he's drowning in his own drool.

Just caught the show and i'm into it. Far more entertaining and fresh than anything WWE has done in recent memory. I love the feeling of watching a wrestling show blindly without all the predictable "WWE politics" behind it.

Wcw is the only and last competition wwe will have, and the biggest wrestling star of all had a lot to do with it (hulk hogan) throw in the nwo and hall, Nash, sting, Goldberg, yeah they had wwe on he ropes just from star power, TNA never had a chance, no matter how popular they were, and AEW I don’t think will even get close to TNA if you ask me, could I be wrong? Of course, but it’s not likely Now, if AEW somehow gets their hands on cena, or even punk, wwe has problems. I'm sorry, but I laughed at this.... even as a big WCW and TNA fan. Double or nothing already beat out anything TNA has done in numbers... and to be honest this is not really even their first show, ALL In was technically their first show,.. a test show and it was pretty damned successful as well. Lol do you know if I made a wrestling organization, got a couple bitter former WWE guys, poked fun at Vince and triple h for a few months to cause controversy, I would have 20,000 fans at my first show too one show don’t mean crap, show me a first show with 20,000 people, then show me a organization that has been selling tickets and is still up and running for almost 15 years, yeah I’ll take longevity any day AEW will never have the star power TNA had, nor will they have the talent TNA had, Kurt angle alone was enough to out wrestle anyone in the AEW roster, yes even Kenny omega, and angle wasn’t even in his prime, I don’t think we will ever see another Kurt angle AEW will start making bad choices, paying big money to sign former WWE talent that has lost their star power or ability to put on good matches, and just like the rest of them, they will put themselves out of business like WCW and eventually TNA, and before you say no they won’t, look at jerichos contract You are quick to judge a organizations success after one show? Already claiming it’s better than products that have been relevant for 10 years, AEW is fighting a up hill battle, it’s easy to see them failing, cause failure is what’s destined to happen to all wrestling organizations besides WWE, for the love of God WWE is having issues and they are as main stream as anyone will ever be in the wrestling business So why am I judging AEWs future? Cause it’s a lot easier to judge a new organizations future failures in a decreasing business, then to judge its success, especially when they clearly don’t have the talent or the know how or the connections, all they got is money, and remember what happened to the last place that had more money then they knew what to do with.

I respect your opinion but nobody has a crystal ball and therefore nobody can see how things are going to turn out for AEW. To be fair, the wrestling landscape has changed dramatically since TNA was in its heyday. WWE wasn't facing significantly declining ratings and their product wasn't quite as inconsistent and repetative as it has been over the last few years. You're correct, TNA had a lot of high-profile former talents from WWE and WCW but it also had a lot of cooks in the kitchen which ultimately ran it into the ground. I'm glad Impact is still kicking but I'm pretty sure it's night and day at this moment when comparing who's running AEW versus the multitude of people who ran TNA. We don't even know how AEW is going to go about touring. I doubt they're going to be going to 10,000+ capacity arenas every week for TV, at least this early. Hell, their Fight for the Fallen event is being held in a venue that seats 5,500 so it doesn't look like their goal is to get bigger and bigger with each event. They're still establishing their audience. Also just curious, how can you tell the industry is on the decline? Is that simply based on WWE's decreasing attendance figures? Is it possible that maybe the decline of that particular audience is because their product has become less desirable to the masses? If that's the case, then couldn't there be potential to deliver a new product that does things differently in the hopes that fans come back to it while also generating new fans? That seems like something AEW is trying to do. That's also coming from a pretty diehard WWE fan. I just want quality in my wrestling shows and it seems a lot of people do as well. But again, everything is purely speculation at this point. That goes for people rooting for AEW as well. Why can't we just sit back and see where the ride takes us without jumping to massive conclusions? A lot of us are just happy there is a highly produced alternative with some really passionate and smart people steering the boat.

Looking at the Daytona and Jacksonville shows, they haven't sold out yet, but the Daytona one particularly only has a few seats left and Jacksonville is more than 3/4 full.
