I guess this is prob the best place to speculate
Now AEW is up and running when do you think they will enter the figure world?
Obviously the bucks have the LJNs and they and others like Cody are great at the merch / marketing game so I can't see them waiting long. I think they'll be coming out soon
Can't see them continuing the ljn though for AEW, I think that will be more niche and separate.
Mattel I imagine won't make them so what companies could be up for contention?
Who would you like to see making them?
Let's speculate đ

If so hopefully they wonât recycle RA bodies đ Iâm tired of âother companiesâ using the old style bodies. Iâd like to see a company that creates figures compatible with WWE figures. Weâve never really seen competing company figures that can fit with each other at the same time. OSFTCâs WCW figures were close to LJNs but not around the same time. Toybizâs WCW and Jakksâs WWE were about the same height but WCWâs were more exaggerated. Itâd be nice to see an AEW line that would be able to fit in with WWE figures without looking too silly.

Iâd love to see them go with Hasbro, and rival the retro line. the Bucks did the LJN style, so they must be a couple of nostalgic fellas.

Realistically I think we're at least 2 years away from mass market figures, assuming things go well with the actual wrestling product. I'd love to see Hasbro involved, but that might be wishful thinking. If/when they get figures, I hope it would be something in a style/size that is at least relatively compatible with the WWE line.
Two years would give time to establish a fan base and create enough interest in their roster that fans would be familiar with the wrestlers. But there are a lot of variables - will competition help wrestling catch fire, or are WWE's record low ratings a sign of worse things to come for pro wrestling? You have to assume AEW are looking at any and all marketing/merchandising options. And considering how well the Bucks did with their own merch, I'm looking forward to what AEW comes up with.

When WWE switched over to Mattel in January of 2010, Mattel's first few sets were largely based on wrestlers/attires from the latter-half of 2008. For example, Jeff's pulled Elite 1 figure (now the Entrance Greats one) was from a match he had with Big Show on Smackdown in '08. They had to prepare an entire line and make entirely new parts, so the design process lagged behind for awhile as they got things rolling. That's probably why we used to get those Basic PPV sets for the first year or two in order to put out product that felt more modern in juxtaposition with them playing catch up for awhile.
I would suspect that something similar might be true for AEW. If they land a toy merchandising deal later this year or early next year, it would very likely be based on the things happening in the first few months of the show on TNT. So in other words, I hope everyone brings their A-game with attires! I really liked Kenny Omega's look from last night.

Wouldnât complain seeing them again. Please not Jakks

I know Cody is a fan of Super 7, He's has complemented them on twitter in the past. Could be an option.

The bodies were skinny and the articulation made them look weird. But I agree, NOT Jakks lol. Unless they decide to update the RA mold from fifteen years ago. With the Bucks signing with LJN, why not? I feel like a lot of the AEW fan base would enjoy retro styled figures to display.

I'm definetly not interested in a super stylised approach or limited articulation glorified statues.
They have to go big or go home, imo. The traditional 6" fully articulated action figure line is the only way I'd be on board. Even TNA was able to do that, so I don't see why a company with the money of the Khan family and a cable network on par if not bigger than what WWE airs on couldn't.
Hasbro would be the biggest option, comparable to WWE/Mattel...so that would probably be ideal. I'm not sure when they'd actually get product on store shelves, consdering they're a different beast than TNA was/is. AEW has been able to announce a deal with a top tier network within a few months of the company's official exsistence. I wouldn't put it past them to do the same with a toy deal within a year. Didn't it take TNA 3 years after they started to put out their Toy Biz/Marvel line? I think we could see AEW action figures available for purchase much sooner than you think.

I wouldn't hold my breath the coming two years...
Super7 would be cool as figure maker; their Conan figure looks impressive!

Super7 doesn't seem like the right fit to me. Unless they're going to make wrestling figures in the vintage He-man style, which would be super weird, but I'm sure I would absolutely love them haha. My fear with S7 would be getting ReAction figures from them instead of a 5-7" scaled line. They're doing the MLB ReAction figures and they showed off the Lucha ReAction figures, as well. Those ReAction figures are fine in a Funko Mini kind of way, but not as a legitimate figure line.
I don't think Jakks is that far fetched. I'm sure they're going to approach AEW, or have already. Maybe they're ready to move into 2019 with their figure design. Maybe Bandai could take a shot at it since they lost Power Rangers. I'd largely prefer for AEW to pull a 2005 TNA and give us something like the Marvel/Toybiz line that feels new and exciting. The RA scale needs to go away. It's great FTC is making figures for a lot of guys who could never get one, but they're very over priced, most of them miss the mark, and that scale is 15 years outdated.
I agree that I think we're going to see figures sooner than most expect. The Bucks have always been aggressive with merchandising, and the TV deal sounds like it was finalized months before the actual announcement was made. It's not crazy to think the figure and video game talks have already started. Cody has guys like Zack Ryder and Marty the Villain who he can consult with these types of discussions, and I think they'll get us something good.

They announced 7" Lucha Legends and in August I think their 7" Conan is coming out.
