Friday Night Smackdown
June 29th, 2012
Hosts: Michael Cole, Mathews and Booker TRECAP RAW June 25th, 2012: John Cena showed up backstage on RAW with the World title and came out of a limo with Mr. McMahon. Vince announces that the new Interim GM of RAW and Smackdown will be Eve Torres. Cena is happy about it. Cena asks Even later in the show if he can join RAW. Eve says she'll consider it soon, but for now likes him at Smackdown.
Cena arrives on Smackdown and gets into Eve's office as she is the new Interim GM. Eve tells Cena he has the day off and he gets excited as he watches Smackdown on the show. Later in the show Ryback gets on the mic talking about how he won the World title last week but was taken away by Vince McMahon. Ryback demands a title shot. Eve comes out on stage and tells Ryback that she might consider it if he could win tonight's triple threat match for the title. Ryback def. Albert Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler via pinfall. Ryback celebrates in the ring till John Cena walks out with Eve.  Cena: Hold on just a minute there, Ryback, I don't think you heard my girl Eve here, I mean we know you got no brain up there in that...you know something you remind me a lot of Goldberg remember him? (Ryback talks trash) O just shut up you didn't get what Eve said she said she "might" consider a title shot for you if you win the triple threat match. And on behalf of my girl here, who Mr. McMahon has blessed our relationship with btw, you ain't getting a title shot (gets heat). Instead I get to pick my next title defense next week and it's going to be.....hmmm....let me think...gosh I don't know a whole lot of people on Smackdown....let me just look at your list here (grabs Eve's cliboard) gosh...look at all these names...who the hell is Justin Gabriel? Alright I pick him.
Ryback: (gets a mic) Eve you bi#ch you said I had a chance, I want a title shot any time any place I want Cena! Feed me more! Feed me more! Cena: What are you going to do about it? (laughs) Ryback runs to the back, Cena grabs Eve and places her in front of him to much heat. Ryback threatens Eve. Eve ducks and Cena jumps over her as he starts landing punches on Ryback. Ryback fights back and lands a backbodydrop. Cena is hurt as Ryback goes for the Shell Shocked till Eve gets on the mic... Eve: Enough please enough I'll get you a title shot I promise but you'll have to get it next week when you face Shaemus in a No.1 contenders match. Ryback says that's more like it as Cena attacks him from behind, throws him unto the railings and runs off. |

RECAP: RAW July 2nd: Cena is backstage with Eve during the show and in a segment says he wants to be in the Money in the Bank match for the RAW brand because Cena wants to be on RAW, which is his home. Eve agrees and gives him a "bye" in the qualifying rounds in order to be at Money in the Bank PPV. John Cena comes to the ring with the World Heavyweight title followed by Eve Torres the Interim GM of RAW and Smackdown. Eve mentions that tonight Ryback will be taking on Shaemus to determine the No. 1 contender for the World title. Cena talks about his match with Justin Gabriel who he has never heard of or seen before but says he'll make him an instant star anyway because anyone who fights Cena becomes famous. Teddy Long shows up on stage and says that even though Eve is the Interim GM for now, Teddy wants to become GM of Smackdown and has applied for the top spot and has the right to contest for it. Eve says that she wants to be the official GM. Teddy challenges Eve with a performer of their choosing for a match tonight as to who will become the official GM of Smackdown. Ryback def. Shaemus via pinfall to become the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight titleIn a backstage segment, Cena comes out of Eve's office with his shirt a mess and trying to adjust his pants and he's got lipstick over his cheeks. Cena tries to hide from the camera. John Cena (c) vs. Justin Gabriel for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Cena has no idea who Justin is and continues to humiliate him in the match even by asking the ref just who is this guy is he really Justin? It's more of a squash match for Cena who destroys Justin and lands an AA. Cena doesn't want to pin him and gets on the mic to rhyme about how crappy Justin is. Cena throws down the mic and goes for a second AA, Justin suddenly reverses it and manages to get Cena over the top rope. Justin gets to the top rope for a senton landing it on Cena. Justin jumps in for the countout win! Winner: Justin Gabriel via countout.
Cena is furious and doesn't believe he lost to who he thought was a jobber. Cena grabs his chain as Gabriel was celebrating and starts choking him till he passes out. Cena leaves to a lot of heat. The Big Show (w/Teddy Long) def. Kofi Kingston (w/Eve) for Teddy Long to become the new GM of Smackdown. |

Hosts: Michael Cole, Mathews and Booker TTeddy Long opens to Smackdown as the new official GM of Smackdown (AJ Lee is chosen as the new GM of RAW). Long says that Justin Gabriel proved himself last week that he can take on a big star like Cena so he's giving him a title shot tonight. John Cena (c) vs. Justin Gabriel for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Cena is ruthless he goes after Justin's legs early on and works on him beating him down. Cena even uses his chain during the match to choke him down but the ref stops him and threatens to stop the match. Cena goes for a quick AA, but Justin reverses it and goes for his own AA and lands it to Cena's humiliation! 1...2..kickout! Cena is in disbelief. Justin hits the top rope for a frankenstiener and lands it for the pin to two. He hits the ropes but Cena lands a huge sidewalk slam, does his signature Five Knuckle Shuffle and lands it. Cena starts flipping off the crowd till Justin manages to go for the roll up for two! Cena is furious and goes for the STF making him tap out right away. Winner: John Cena via submission to retain the World Heavyweight titleCena doesn't let go till Ryback rushes out to a pop. Ryback beats down on Cena and lands the Shell Shocked for Smackdown go to off air. |

Hosts: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Booker TJohn Cena vs. Big Show, Jericho, Kane and the Miz in a MITB Ladder Match for a RAW WWE Championship Contract.This was the first match of the night. Cena takes down Show, Jericho works on Kane, the Miz goes after Cena. Cena lands an AA on Show. Later in the match as the Miz climbed to the top of the ladder, Cena chased after him. Miz grabs the briefcase, but Cena steals it from him and jumps down with the briefcase. The ref isn't sure who won. A second ref shows up and talks about the rules. Even though Miz grabbed it, since it was a ladder match, Cena touched the floor with the briefcase.  Winner: John Cena for a contract for the WWE ChampionshipCena gets the win to a lot of heat from the crowd as Cena gives the crowd the finger and runs off with the briefcase. Daniel Bryan def. CM Punk (c) via pinfall to become the NEW WWE Champion. CM Punk's long reign ends when John Cena shows up with the briefcase and knocks down Punk with it as the ref was knocked out and Bryan got the win. John Cena was about to cash in his briefcase as the fans are on their feet wondering if he'll do it. Cena flips off the crowd again, laughs and leaves not giving them a possible MITB match and Daniel Bryan as the new champion is in wonder as to why he Cena didn't do it. John Cena (c) vs. Ryback for the World Heavyweight Championship.
 The match is billed as Champion vs. the Undefeated (never been pinned or submitted). This was the final match on the card. Cena comes out with the briefcase and World title, he starts to rhyme about Ryback as a Goldberg wannabe. Cena is in and Ryback spears Cena! Ryback goes for the jackhammer and the pin but Cena had his foot on the rope. Ryback gets angry and dominates the match. Even as Cena leaves the ring for a breather, Ryback wouldn't give him a chance. Later in the match, an enraged CM Punk runs out and attacks Cena. Ryback however doesn't want Punk involved and attacks Punk, landing a shell shocked on the outside only for him to lose via countout when Cena jumped in the knick of time. Winner: John Cena via countout to retain the World Heavyweight ChampionshipRyback is furious and goes after Cena as Cena manages to run off. |

The Miz via pinfall to retain the WWE Championship. John Cena runs out with the briefcase and cashes it in.  Daniel Bryan (c) vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship.Cena goes for a quick AA, but Bryan counters with a roll up and holding unto the tights for the win! Winner: Daniel Bryan via pinfall to retain the WWE Championship
Cena is furius and goes nuts. Cena even hits an AA on the ref! Backstage CM Punk laughs Cena for losing. Backstage the new GM AJ Lee who was proposed to by Daniel Bryan at the beginning of RAW, fines John Cena for his attack on the ref. Cena is brought into a her office and tells her off saying he wants a title shot. AJ says Cena is already a champion and should go back to Smackdown where he belongs. Cena says this isn't over because Vince McMahon is good buddies with him and she better watch her back. |

Hosts: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, and Michael ColeRECAP Smackdown July 20th: John Cena no-showed Smackdown again, and Teddy Long declares that if Cena no-shows one more time he will be stripped out of the title. He also declares that after speaking to the GM of RAW, Cena will have to defend the World Heavyweight title on the 1000th episode of RAW.This was a special three hour RAW where Taker, Bret Hart, DX, the Rock and many others showed up. Brock Lesnar challenged Triple H to a match at SummerSlam. Bret Hart made his way out as he was a guest ring announcer for the IC title match. Hart enters the ring first to talk to the crowd that his greatest moment in his career was beating Mr. Perfect for the IC title at SummerSlam 1991.  John Cena shows up.  Cena: (walks down the aisle) O look at what we have here, the biggest crybaby in WWE history. O nooo waaannn McMahon screwed me ha Bret screwed Bret (laughs) Bret: Cena I don't know what your problem is because the last time we met you showed me some respect. Cena: Bret Hart, you don't belong in this ring boi, you so ancient that even the dinosaurs see you as their ancestor. Bret: If I didn't have my stroke when I did that ended my full time career, I would beat you into a bloody pulp right here and now.
Cena: You see Bret, I am... I am the best there is...the best there was...and the best there ever will be (gets a lot of heat) Bret sucker punches Cena who drops to his knees. Cena snaps and kicks Bret only to drop him and LOCK IN THE STF! Bret TAPS and Cena gets MASSIVE heat from the crowd as they start throwing things in the ring. Cena let's go and stares at Bret who looks unconscious as WWE Officials run out, some screaming at Cena as to why he did it. Bret is taken out on a stretcher. John Cena (c) vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship
 Punk is furious that he lost the WWE title in one of the longest reigns in recent memory. He's out and trashes Cena on the mic for what he did to Bret and dedicates the match to Bret Hart. Cena gets in the ring and they're off. Late in the match Cena lands an AA for the pin but the ref was knocked out. Cena goes for the WMD. Punk retaliates and lands a Rock Bottom. Cena and Punk exchange old-school finishers till Cena goes for another AA, but Punk lands his finisher for the nearfall. Punk is in disbelief that Cena could kick out. Cena locks in the STF and Punk just won't submit. Even after a whole minute Punk won't surrender and Cena just refuses to let go. The Rock runs out and he breaks the hold for the DQ as he had seen enough and lands a Rock Bottom on Cena! Winner: John Cena via DQ.
The Rock goes for the people's elbow, but Cena rolls out of the ring. Cena flips him off.  Rock: Hey John Cena, ever since I left the WWE you've turned into an a##whole. I didn't think about coming back, you're right about that Cena, I'm enjoying Hollywood, but after seeing what you did to my hero Bret "the Hitman" Hart, after hospitalizing him, even though it was once in a life time Cena, let's make it happen again, step in the ring one more time so I could whoop your a## all the way to mexico! Cena flips him off till RAW GM AJ Lee walks out on Stage and demands a RESTART of the match! Cena is furious and gets back in the ring. The Rock stands on the outside watching. Cena goes after Punk and tries to go for the AA, but Punk reverses for the GTS for the PIN and WIN! Winner: CM Punk via pinfall to become the NEW World Heavyweight Champion.  The Rock runs in with the World title belt to hand it over to Punk as they celebrate the win. Cena is on the outside in disbelief and flips them off and the crowd as well as RAW goes off air. |

Vince McMahon makes his way out to open RAW.  Vince: Dammit the WWE is in a dilemma it has never seen before. I love John Cena's "ruthless aggression" and damn you Teddy Long for firing him from Smackdown, but while you had that authority, I'm bringing John Cena back on RAW. So let's all welcome the greatest of all time, John Cena! Cena comes out to huge heat.  Cena: Thank you Vince for bringing me back to RAW where I belong, it's my home and go to hell Teddy Shlong. Vince leaves with a fistbump with Cena. Cena: I told you all I had connections with the higherups, but to be honest I don't care about Smackdown. CM Punk can stay there he's their champion. As for the Rock costing me the World Heavyweight title last week, as for his challenge, (stares into the camera) Rock...you're on. After I'm done with you Rock, I'm going after the WWE Championship, because that belongs to me, the GOAT of the WWE. Later backstage Cena starts to flirt with RAW GM AJ Lee even though Daniel Bryan got his heart crushed at their wedding when she said no. AJ Lee is liking Cena's flirting. Later he ignores Nikki Bella in the hallways. |

RECAP August: Mr. McMahon gives Cena time off to prepare for SummerSlam as the show will host a Double Main Event, The Rock vs. Cena II and Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar. Cena comes back on the last RAW before SummerSlam and trashes the Rock for being a sell out and says he'll beat him at SummerSlam.
The Rock vs. John Cena II
 The second confrontation, which was heavily advertised since their feud started at Wrestlemania 27 to Wrestlemania 28. highlights are shown of their confrontation on the 1000th episode of RAW and Cena's challenge. A montage of Cena is shown working out and preparing for the match. The Rock and Cena go at it as they originally did at WM29. There isn't much change needed here except that it happens early, not for a title and Cena is a heel. The Rock tries a fourth Rock Bottom in the end till Cena counters with a third AA to win the match. Winner: John Cena via pinfallCena celebrates gloating about how he defeated the Rock. |

END OF PART 14
We now come full circle with a heel John Cena defeating the Rock at SummerSlam. This part was meant to tell the story of John Cena's heel turn.
The Aftermath:
John Cena would go on to win the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan at Night of Champions.
At the Royal Rumble Daniel Bryan wins but he chooses to face Cena at Elimination Chamber instead of at Wrestlemania. Cena wins the match getting a lot of heat. Cena cuts a promo talking about him "burying" guys because he loves it and that Triple H isn't the man with the "shovel", but Cena has always had it.
Cena and Punk both held their titles since they won them with long reigns right up until Wrestlemania 29 when the WWE decide to make one undisputed WWE World Championship, unifying the WWE title and World title as one.
CM Punk solidifies himself as the babyface top star at Wrestlemania when he defeats John Cena to become the "first" ever WWE World Champion and Cena passes the torch to Punk.
Cena gradually turns babyface down the road.

15. Roddy Piper wins WWF title 1985
In 1984, Rowdy Roddy Piper took the WWF by storm as a manager (since he was legit injured), as host of Piper's Pit and thereafter becoming a competitor. Piper would gain steam and heat when he smashed a coconut over Jimmy Snuka over Piper's Pit and built more heat when he insulted and feuded with Bruno Sammartino. As 1985 arrived he would go on becoming the biggest heel in the world at the time headlining the MTV special The War to Settle the Score and Wrestlemania 1While it's true there was "no chance in hell" that Vince McMahon would have Hulk Hogan drop the strap as he was a cash machine, this what-if scenario is more fantasy than possibility, as in What-If Roddy Piper had become WWF Champion? We go back to 1985 where it all begins....

Hulk Hogan cuts a promo on Piper saying he doesn't know if the WWF will let him get his hands on Piper but he wants to be the one to do it to lead the Rock n'Wrestling Connection. Mean Gene interview with Roddy Piper as Piper says why he should be fighting the Hulk but as Gene tells him it would be for the World title Piper shouts Bingo! Piper says if Hulk wants to fight him he has to put the World title on the line on the dotted line. Hulk Hogan is interviewed by Mean Gene with Hulk saying he's the self-appointed Marshall Dillon and that he'll take care of Piper and he doesn't care about the stipulation and wants to sign. Piper craks a joke that one of the stipulations was that if Piper won Hulk has to give up his girlfriend Cowboy Bob Orton cuts a promo about the contract signing. Roddy Piper confronts Mr. T on the set of the A-Team Summary: Piper taunts Mr. T, says that he is a bad guy and beats up people for a living. Piper is called a wimp. Mr. T says that Lauper is her friend that he shoves Piper and get seperated.

The War to Settle the Score

Hosts: MTV's Alan Hunter and Gene Okerlund
Match Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon and Gene OkerlundA great Show opener pushing the match (24:30 timing) can be seen below with musicians and those in the industry making comments about the feud. The contract signing and some highlights of the Rock n'Wrestling Connection and its beginnings is also shwon. Hulk Hogan (c) vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper (w/Bob Orton) for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship Bagpipes play and Piper gets in the ring with a Hulkamania shirt on and a guitar. NBC's Bob Costas is the guest ring announcer. Piper destroys the guitar. Eye of the Tiger plays and out comes Hulk Hogan with his entrouge. Mr. T is in attendance in the front row to watching the match and Hulk and Mr. T meet each other as the crowd gets riled up. Piper jumps Hulk with punches on the mat, Hulk fights back, punches and Piper is thrown into the corner with a clothesline as Piper falls face first. Two bodyslams and Hulk hits the running elbow smash. Hulk bites Piper's forehead, Piper eye rakes and clotheslines Hulk in a corner for the pin to two. Piper and Hulk exchange punches and holds till Piper locks in the sleeper hold. Hulk lifts him up and backs him to the corner. Piper fights back. Orton gets on the apron and Hulk knocks him down. Paul Orndorff runs out to support Piper. Suddenly the ref falls down hard. Hogan lands a bodyslam, a big boot and the big leg for the pin, but no one is there. Everyone is counting and thinking Hulk has this won. Hulk tries to get to the ref till Orndorff runs in and knocks down Hulk landing a devestating piledriver right in the middle of the ring! Mr. T has had enough! He runs in the ring and goes after Orndorff and chases him in the ring and out! Hulk tries to get back up till Piper gets in a rollup and holds the tights down for the pin and win. Winner: Roddy Piper via pinfall to become the NEW WWF World Heavyweight Champion
Mr. T gets back in the ring chasing Orndorff, they fight each other. Piper and Hulk go at it. Piper jumps to the outside as heavy security are in. Piper is announced as the new Champion as it almost looks like the place is ready to riot! Piper gets the WWF title and rushes to the back.  Backstage Hunter and Gene are talking about the controversial win by Piper. Hulk Hogan rushes in to meet Mean Gene and cuts a promo on how the devil Piper stole the dreams of all of Rock'n Roll by stealing the WWF Championship. Hulk says he was never beaten but that good for nothing Orndorff interfered costing him the match. Hulk wants President Jack Tunney to do something about it because the War isn't over that Rock n'Roll will live forever and he'll prove it. Cyndi Lauper and David Wolfe come in and talk about how terrible of a tragedy this was, Cyndi says that that Hulk Hogan was robbed that all of Rock n'Roll was robbed because of that bodyguard Orndorff who is a "half man with half an arm". Cyndi says she will stand up for Hulk to get that title back. Mr. T comes in and talks about Rocky 3 and how he and Hulk were friends since then he says he wanted to see CLEAN wrestling not this cheating bull. Lou Albano cuts a promo saying that he was proud of Hulk who did his best but cheating is just wrong. Other celebrities who were part of the show spoke with Mean Gene including actor Danny DeVito. Piper shows up with the WWF title and in a towel.  Piper: Well will you look at that (looks at DeVito then to the camera) I told the world I was going to humiliate Rock n'Roll and I did it today. I've taken the WWF Championship and for all these people coming in here talking to you Gene if you all don't got the guts to face me in the ring mister, take a hike and leave this title here with me, and for you Mr. T if you want a shot at the gold I'll put the X where there is a T I don't care because I'll defend it like always. Don't be a coward man, man I'm so fired up I don't want to talk any more about it you wanna fight sign on the dotted line and we'll fight Hulk wants a rematch I'll fight him too I'll fight everyone of these guys in the back I'll fight them all. |

Vince: I would like to first congratulate you Mr. Piper for winning the Heavyweight Championship of the World at the War to Settle the Score, at Madison Square Garden what a match it was, but Piper many are saying that that gold was stolen from one Hulk Hogan. Piper: Ha, you win some you lose some come on McMahon you and I know that I wouldn't be standing right here if I had stolen the belt no ha, everyone knows the referee's decision is final and I am the new champion ha... Vince: Wrestlemania is around the corner and the extravaganza is going to be something special, while Hulk Hogan has been wanting a rematch ever since he lost the championship, the one and only Mr. T in a once in a lifetime opportunity is challenging you for the WWF Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania, while Hulk Hogan will be taking on Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff. Piper: An actor Vince...he's an actor that's all he is he isn't a wrestler like me I was fifteen Vince fifteen when I started fighting ha I was a schrony little kid trying to make it in professional wrestling what exactly has he done? Acted in Rocky 3, ha, I know Mr. T is a tough guy and he was a big time bodyguard for all the greats like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, o I know all about him, I know he's been in those tough man competitions and boxing guys into submission I know all about him, but he mister is no wrestler I'll tell you that. Orndorff blasts Hulk Hogan saying Hogan deserved to lose the WWF title. Orton says that there is no way a celebrity can beat a wrestler. Later in the show a "fortune teller" comes out on TNT to meet with Piper so he can tell Piper's and Orndorff's outcome at Wrestlemania. Orndorff goes first and picks a card and the fortune teller tells him that Hulk Hogan will get his revenge. Orndorff gets angry.
Piper: Ha I don't need fortune tellers to tell me if I'm going to win ha I know I am...let's see what this soothsayer has to say ha (grabs a card and the teller says he's going to lose) Piper smashes the fortune teller on the table in front of them and throws him down as Vince calls out for help as Piper and his friends leave. Hulk Hogan and Mr. T are training in LA for Wrestlemania.  |
