In other Walmart news: Check Brickseek for main line Elites and main line Basics being put on clearance for $11 and $7. my local store has this price as of yesterday. Unfortunately elites have been empty for 2 months now and basics are slim pickings from approx 3 waves back. hoping they restock before the price goes back up with something I want!

This is a huge red flag. Mattel is having an absurdly tough time even getting their product onto retail shelves, with lines being cancelled and shown product never getting released or only available online.
It's amazing how bad the brick and mortar retail picture has gotten over the past couple years, even beyond the TRU closure. I hate to be all doom and gloom, but I'm really struggling to see how this brand can be successful.

Cancelling another line, and yet most of my Walmart's shelves still sit mostly empty.....
I just don't get it......

All they need to do is release the Monsoon/Heenan pack in a battle pack wave. The Goldberg/HHH was another pack people had wanted. the weakest pack was Miz and Braun. Hopefully most of these see the light of day

Time for another toy company to get the WWE rights If this were to happen I'd probably call it quits on collecting. LJN - Mattel is a good run. I can't imagine starting over a 5th time. To those saying they're sick of flashback lines being cancelled, aren't modern likes being cancelled too? Just cancellations everywhere. Soon we'll be left with just the main lines, which is fine with me. It's the teasing I can't handle. Still butthurt over Itami.

Mattel WWE figures have been absolutely pathetic the past 3 years. 3 of the Meijers closest to me literally only have 3 Bo Dallas figures from elite 36. All the Walmart’s have a random 1 or 2 figures from that top picks elite series. Target is an absolute joke.all they have is those stupid nxt rusev figures that no one wants. I’m starting to wonder if Vince McMahon himself hasn’t taken over Mattel and their distribution because it’s garbage now just like wwe creative.

It’s just a tough fight for space right now. Toys r us going out of business was just a giant blow to the toy industry. You have all these lines fighting for space in what essentially is one aisle. Pretty sure the whole industry is feeling it and it’s not just the Wwe line. I know from talking to my uncle there is not nearly the amount of Star Wars stuff coming out anymore, and the section in Walmart is smaller than I can ever remember. It is gonna get to a point where we simply are getting a lot less figures in a year cause the stores can’t support them.

With all this going on I still do not understand why Mattel do not sell figures themselves and cut out the middle man.

For better or worse, word from a collector who seems pretty well connected and has had inside info in the past is that they have resigned for another 5 years, but it hasn't been announced yet. You're right - most of the lines are modern/FB hybrids, so it's impacting legends, NXT, and main roster collectors. When you can't get your major retail partners to carry your product, it's a gigantic issue. Target hasn't carried these "big show" lines for a few years. Now Walmart is down to just the Survivor Series Elites (for now). I wouldn't be shocked if the Wrestlemania line doesn't exist by next year. We pretty much are just left with the main lines. Epic Moments seems to have been killed without an announcement after the Deletion set, the NXT series looks to be on its last legs, no news of further Retrofest figs, and it remains to be seen if the Ultimate Edition line actually gets carried in stores. If it ends up being online only, I don't expect it to last long either. I love the product Mattel puts out, but from a business perspective there are some huuuuuuuge signs that the ship is taking on water.

Hopefully they’ll release Gorilla in a single pack, didn’t need a repeat Bobby Hernan.

Anyone have picks of these? I don’t recall prototypes being shown, but maybe I missed something?

This is another example of why Bill and co like to keep things to themselves. Hopefully they will fight just as hard to get Gorilla released as they did for Asuka.

If it ends up being online only, I don't expect it to last long either. I love the product Mattel puts out, but from a business perspective there are some huuuuuuuge signs that the ship is taking on water. It's very strange to see. I've been having these issues since Mattel took over. As a Canadian, I've never had problems collecting WWE figures until Mattel. Next thing you know, Mattel isn't sending stuff to our stores. Supposedly it's because Mattel doesn't want to do bilingual packaging (mandatory to have English and French in Canada), but Jakks never had an issue. We even got the Toybiz TNA line when it first came out. We were passed over for the main elite line from series 6 until series 32 or so. Now we only get every other series. Very frustrating when you go to a Canadian Walmart or TRU and see everything else regularly stocked. Other lines keeping up with the distribution and the States, and that includes other Mattel products, but not WWE, made more frustrating because these are the best wrestling figures yet in terms of quality. At one point I even wrote a letter for Mattel before we started getting product again. Couldn't find where I was supposed to send it unfortunately. So it's very concerning to see the States going through this now. I was really looking forward to Gorilla. Pretty bummed that a figure set that was shown not long ago at all is already cancelled. I don't even know what exactly I'm complaining about or who to blame. Bill clearly isn't the issue, as he's just the lead designer who tries to take care of us collectors when he can. Someone here touched on it before, but maybe the problem simply is that we know too much and are shown too much, unlike when we were kids and just had the back of the box to go off.
