I was going to comment about dollar cars not being enough to sustain a toy company. But first I wanted to check to see how long Hotwheel had been around. So I used my Google machine. And I just found something out. Mattel owns Feld entertainment...... feld, which is Monster Jam...... so why did Mattel give that toy license to Spin Master? Here's a good article about what's going on with Mattel and Feld. Mattel never owned Feld, they had the license to produce Feld-owned Monster Jam products. jalopnik.com/monster-jam-is-going-to-war-with-mattel-1831623802Feld is currently involved in a lawsuit with Mattel. Basically, Feld let Mattel know in the middle of 2017 that they were ending their licensing agreement. Mattel had the license through the end of 2017 and Feld alleges that Mattel didn't produce them through the end of the year but stopped production shortly after they were informed of the license ending, which cost Feld money during 2017's holiday season since there was no product available for sale. Mattel ended up starting up their own monster truck brand, using very similar designs and names to Monster Jam-owned properties. And Mattel also started up their own monster truck live shows and poached a lot of personnel from Feld. This article taught me that Mattel had rolled out their own product to compete with Monster Jam, before their contract was up. As for reusing molds, that only makes sense. Still, the article doesn't mention Feld being owned by Mattel. According to wikipedia, Mattel owns Feld entertainment.

When it comes to toys Mattel has always been king and has always tried to become number one in toys. If you look at Mattel in the 80's they became huge starting with the successes of the Masters Of The Universe toyline and Barbie was still number one but when the She-Ra Princess Of Power toyline ended it really hurt Mattel very badly but starting a deal with Disney to market toys for infants toddlers and preschoolers really put Mattel back to it's original formula and thus began Disney's relationship with Mattel and since Disney ended it's relationship with Mattel that really has caused Mattel to go downhill but if it wasn't for Barbie and the Monster High toyline and Hot Wheels Mattel would be broke now. But what I think earns Mattel millions of dollars is the toylines that make them huge like WWE figures celebrity dolls such as the WWE Superstars Dolls Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker and many other celebrities that have been made into dolls by Mattel. But what I think is the biggest disappointment for Mattel was making a factory outlet store in the 80's called Mattel Toy Club that claimed to have Mattel toys at cheaper prices and it was gonna be a success but with stores like TRU and Target selling toys at better prices Mattel Toy Club failed and went broke in the 90's but if Mattel was to have a toy catalog and become a mail order toy store I bet Mattel would go for that idea. But as long as Barbie and Hot Wheels are still being made Mattel isn't going broke anytime soon in the future Doctorwhofan

Mattel should look to go a bit more adultish with collectibles. If kids aren't buying, go after men.
Imagine a 1/6 scale higher quality retro line for adults with money. To me this makes sense. Mattel thinks too small. Utilize the WWE license. Makes no sense to create female dolls.....they don't sell. Create dolls male stars
Cross Barbie/Ken with the male WWE stars with the new face scans and lets see what happens.
There is a market out there and MAttel already has the production in place.

That is insane. You buy it from feld for 50 million, let feld manage, lose millions, then sell it back to feld....... insane!

If that scale and price point could work, someone would have taken a chance on it by now. The McFarlane statues and Figuarts figures were both collector oriented and failed. If these figures were truly "collector level"...with fabric clothing, multiple heads/hands, and a bunch of accessories, they would have to sell for between $80-120 at the very least. People piss and moan over spending $25-30 on a figure. They're not going to pay four times that.

Now you might not get $200 for every wrestler but if Storm or Hot Toys made legends like Flair and Hart they could get $180.

I guarantee collectors will only shell out big bucks for a very small handful of guys, and Hogan is absolutely one of them.

I don't know about that... but, they definitely have no idea what blonde and purple look like. i mean its not impossible for a large company to things up and go under. i think the biggest problem here is that all these toy companies just make TOO MUCH crap because they are focused on churning out new products every month to hit their "numbers" and in doing so they dont make enough of the things people WANT and too much of things that nobody wants. this is what happens when you have corporate college degree suits sitting in conference rooms making decisions instead of people who care about toys. i think thats the point this guy is trying to make its kind of like the WWE hiring sitcom writers to script wrestling promos and storylines. i dont understand why companies think its ok to just throw anyone on anything because they have some form of education or qualification in another area. it'd be like having a guy who went to school studying to be a dentist working on your car in an auto repair shop because he used to change his own oil in his driveway years ago. Like the movie Big when they hired Tom Hanks to be Vice President because of his knowledge of toys. Even though he had a 6th grade education. I agree. Hire someone who is and has been into wrestling for years. Someone who has collected for years. And someone who reads and listens to what the fans and collectors want. They would know damn well what would sell and what wouldn't. If they did that I can almost guarantee that WWE figure sales would skyrocket. "This is a building that turns into a robot... what's fun about playing with a building? That's not any fun" "This is a skyscraper"...
