It’s nice to have a markdown when there isn’t anything on shelves 😂

This happens every year around this time and every year posters lose their minds.
Come August, things will be restocked with new resets of the toy departments.

When a retailer is on auto replenish and their local warehouses can't restock its stores, yes, it is the manufacturer's doing. Maybe I should say lack of doing. Worked big box retail as a manager for 27 years.

Exactly. Sometimes it gets low, normally some stuff warms/rots, but I have never seen it completely bare like I do right now. We had more on the shelf during the 2017 Christmas Season debacle.

That’s why everyone finds the wm elites for dirt cheap this time of year I’m not saying they don’t. But that isn’t the main line Elites that they’ve been carrying for 10 years now And not sure if I’m in the minority but when I find the rare Wal Mart that has Sasha’s WM Elite rotting, it’s still $19.87. Along with the BP’s at full price and the Basics at full price (and the Top Picks Elite AJ’s are still $19.87) While there’s been no regular line Elites since April/May. Any way you spin it, it makes zero sense

I’ve basically given up on retail. Walmart has marked down air to 11 bucks around me bc there is nothing but disappointment warning the pegs in the NY area.

Well I think that's one of the biggest points of this thread ...... there are 12 months out of the year, and shelves are completely empty AT LEAST 4-5 months (Jan-Feb, May-July) out of the year...... And am I the only one who feels like we're in "RESET" (AKA - "EMPTY") mode for 2-3 months - then the shelves actually get stocked, and stay that way for maybe 2-3 weeks? then we're right back to empty shelves..... And it happens EVERY YEAR....... this does seem to be even worse than normal.......

Since the last real stocking of shelves (right around the WM shipper) March(ish) just to compare Marvel Legends with WWE Elites
Captain Marvel was already fully on the shelves (7 figures)
Black Panther M’Baku BAF hit (6 figures) Infinity War Thanos BAF hit (7 figures) Spider Man Kingpin BAF hit (7 figures) Infinity War Hulk BAF hit (7 figures) Spider Man Far From Home hit (7 figures) X Men Caliban BAF hit (7 figures)
in addition to a 2 pack and couple of single exclusives
That is JUST during this drought that nothing Mattel WWE is being stocked at Wal Mart
That’s a lot of money (not to mention interest swaying) as a lot of wrestling fans also collect Marvel Legends. Kind of been a blessing in disguise, that there’s been no WWE product to spend money on since Hasbro’s onslaught
The only thing that is worse than Mattel WWE is Mattel DC Multiverse. They are just completely non existent in stores (besides the 2 Shazam movie figures)

Kind of been a blessing in disguise, that there’s been no WWE product to spend money on since Hasbro’s onslaught The only thing that is worse than Mattel WWE is Mattel DC Multiverse. They are just completely non existent in stores (besides the 2 Shazam movie figures) Exactly. And this drought isn't exclusive to one store - my Targets are just as barren as Walmart. If anything, my figure spending has gone up this year. But I've bought a grand total of 3 new Mattel figures. I filled in holes in my back collection, adding the Rockers, LOD, and Demolition. And with no WWE figures to buy, I've also jumped into the ML and Black lines over the past few months. Hasbro and secondary sellers are getting my money, but Mattel isn't seeing much from me. But I can guarantee you that if we saw the steady stream of product this year like in years past, I would exclusively be buying new WWE releases as I had in the past. Product being clearanced isn't new. But the sheer lack of product is. Store exclusive lines are gone. The premium lines and multi-packs are gone. It's anybody's guess if the UE line will actually show up at retail, and if they were they should be hitting during this upcoming reset. There has been fewer products than ever. So while dead stock getting clearanced isn't itself an issue, the reset diagram shown earlier in the thread doesn't indicate that the stores are planning on adding any additional product or space. And I don't see any way where that doesn't result in a huge amount of lost revenue for Mattel over the course of the year.

Keep in mind that these "toy resets" do not change much for WWE Mattel. You got basics, elite, top pick elites, top pick basics, battle packs, retros, belts, ring, sound slammers. Peg count and shelf space might get moved around but you are not seeing new lines.

We always get swamped with stuff in the fall, then dead for Xmas and right back to being flooded in the spring. It’s been a normal occurrence and must have to do with how Walmart and other retailers order toys. Mattel’s not making things to sit in warehouses, it’s up to stores to stock them. They obviously sell well, it’s just their stupid process of how they go about stocking product.

Wonder why Bill was asking us to take photos of our stores to "help with distribution". But remember Mattel has nothing to do with stores receiving their product...

Wondering what your thoughts / excuses would be for that? It’s Mattel, DC Comics, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, the equivalent to Hasbros Marvel Legends (for those who don’t know) Wal Mart just dropped them completely (except if a movie comes out, they’ll carry the movie line). That 6” line was basically longer running than WWE has been I have no idea why, don’t know if it was Wal Marts stupid ordering process or Mattel’s inability to keep them supplied. But Wal Mart might get sick of empty shelves just like we the consumer are. So they drop them and move on But to drop a line that would just get the rub off of Marvel Legends being red hot, is crazy. Something behind it, and just like WWE Elites, made and distributed by Mattel

They obviously sell well, it’s just their stupid process of how they go about stocking product. I can't speak for the others, but I don't necessarily blame Mattel...... When TRU went under, I have friends who work at Walmart that indicated Walmart planned to increase their toy departments by about 25% to pick up TRU's lost sales/revenue........ But I haven't seen that happening. I see less toys on the shelves than ever. And I wouldn't say that we get "swamped with stuff in the fall"...... I know that during the Christmas season the last two years, shelves were bare for most of Nov/December (including Black Friday)...... We've also seen various lines either cancelled (Flashbacks) or sent DIRECTLY to clearance (Fan Central)..... really odd decisions on Walmart's end while the actual toy shelves sat bare? The Walmart WWE sections are empty 40%-60% of the year....... as a fan & a customer, it's completely unacceptable. All of this, combined with various reports that say Mattel's stock & sales are down, point to Walmart really dropping the ball here..... most likely, the stores (& toy departments) are under-managed & ignored by Walmart staff.

Something behind it, and just like WWE Elites, made and distributed by Mattel The DC line sold like trash. The movies didn’t do well and distribution was terrible. I can go to several Walmart’s near me and find a shelf of at least 40 figures on clearance for $5 that nobody wants. Everyone on here are always so quick to point the blame at Mattel, when it’s obviously consumers and the retailers. We all bitch on here about stores not having stock, yet also boast that we don’t like the hunt and just order everything. Again, Mattel wouldn’t make a ton of figures to just sit. Walmart and target toy departments order what they need in the standard series. Mattel sends out initial store exclusives to the retailer distro centers and from there on, it’s up to them to distribute them to all the locations. Its not as cut and dry as so many of you make it out to be
