Because of creative they blew every creditable chance with him mostly and the time frame also being dragged along at first to fully attempt to push him and it actually work in any kinda way when they had the perfect chance to at the rumble but they picked Batista instead of him to win they would have had everyone hooked on him even more than they was right then at that moment in time and could have had it been his defining moment if he would have went over in it for the mania spot instea but they prolonged everything with him and turned us against him with the silly crap that they had him doing basically all of those times when trying anything they could think of to find ways to kept him from being booed because creative screwed him up and couldn't figure out how or why plus we all found out that he couldn't do a promo or talk at all which he should have been sent to a few promo classes instantly at that time to help him but it was already to late so they tried multiple different angles that some made sense and others didn't but the second chance they screwed up on him with was with not having him turn on everyone instead of Seth they could have made him a monster heel with rock heel heat third chance was the Bray waytt fued fourth chance they had was with taker it would have been real good if they didn't rush the idea for a quick mania spot then just drop it like they did with so much stuff and would have took the time to plan it out for a 6 month feud between these to and explained why it is this match between the 2 and used the story telling part to build it up that was already there from the first time with the sheld putting taker though the announcers table after beating him down now taker has came for revenge against roman and used the history that exists already to build the feud up that right there could have helped out big time for Romans character but they blew that Chance so they just stuck him with the Brock and Braun deals plus from Dean to Seth then had the shield came back and here we are now all these years later and it's the same as always with him next attempt will be to bring in the rock into the ring and have him see if he can fix it at all

he’s been mishandled, but even in doing that they’ve unintentionally created so much potential for his character. through sheer unwillingness on wwe’s part to admit defeat he has been carved out and has more dynamics than the majority of the roster.
I’m excited with the idea of Heyman getting his hands on him.

If stone cold in 1998 was booked like Roman reigns in 2015-2016, we would all be watching Ted Turner's product right now

Roman was a failure as soon as the WWE made him superstar of the year in 2014 when he was out injured from September - January 2015. Everyone knew that Seth Rollins should have won that, being that he won MITB that year and was having amazing matches. Yet, Roman got it - who was injured for almost half that year.
It was right then and there that the WWE screwed up with Roman, and fans instantly hated him.

They tried to go the John Cena route when he was garnering pretty decent traction with the audience back around 2013-ish. But he lacks the natural charisma to make it work the same way it did with Cena. What's funny is it's a classic situation of WWE shooting themselves in the foot because Roman was over at one point while with The Shield. I believe it was the 2013 Royal Rumble where he had an incredible showing, eliminating lot of guys and the fans ate it up. I think if WWE let Roman build himself up more organically, by 2014/2015 he would have been over as a serious face rather than "the guy" they were trying to position him as. It's been nice that he hasn't been involved in the world title picture for a bit now and I'm hoping with the new powers that be on Raw and Smackdown that he gets some sort of character refresh to salvage his image.

I feel as if with the kids he just isn't over with them. Like, Cena no matter what; was able to get over with the kids. I am not saying kids don't like Reigns, but observing kids at live events shows he doesn't have as much of young boy frenzy. It took Reigns till 2018 to surpass Cena as the top merchandise seller. Cena really hasn't been big dog in WWE TV since 2014/2015. At points i've found Braun more over with the ''lil jimmies'' then Reigns. And really hasn't been the most active since 2016. So it comes off surprising. I love Reign's in ring work, when things are properly done. I just remember the support he got at Royal Rumble 2014. I also really enjoyed his initial rise to the top from June 2014-March 2015. I felt once he returned from injury in September 2014 it's been downhill. I took almost a complete break from the product in 2015-2017. I return to see him hated. I think he's to much of a rehash of Cena.

Easy. They’re not letting him own his character. They’re trying to make him into something he’s not. I like Reigns, but the whole cheesy John Cena lines and superhero thing isn’t working and IS stale. Let him be a antihero, a guy who doesn’t speak much and let him be a badass. I’ll give you one scenario... during his Brock fued they played tug of war with the belt -_- instead Reigns should of obliviated Brock with a steel chair and walked out that arena not saying a word.

He's not a failure John Cena was getting the same reaction 10 years ago.
Fact of the matter is fans don't like a certain star getting shoved down their throats.

They give us no reason to like him. Perpetual underdog? No. Sympathy for having leukemia? Can you be more desperate?

Roman Reigns isn't a failure. I don't like his character at all but it sells and does what its meant to do therefore it's not even close to a failure.

not a failure but most definitely not an overall success.
you can still hear the boos when he comes out.
the difference with Cena is, Cena does have charisma and was original. RR is still in Shield mode.
with WWE going away from PG and targeting teens, it will be interesting to see what will happen.

Imo, an attire change and dropping the Superman Punch would do wonders. The fact that he has headlined Wrestlemania more times than Steve Austin is just not cool.

On Raw last night, Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre faced Roman Reigns and a mystery partner of Shane McMahon's choosing. He chose an arena janitor and gave him a lucha libre mask. The janitor was kicking Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre's ass but got pinned after a Claymore Kick. The janitor unmasked afterwards and it was Cedric Alexander. So Roman Reigns had a capable wrestler as a mystery partner and still lost the match.

Roman Reigns proves you can win every feud and still be booked poorly.
