The only thing Jakks has on Mattel is they were easier to buy in stores.

In my opinion they are offering us far superior products (minus the new style basics) and much more realistic looking figures. Majority of the jakks figures looked like Scott Steiner bodies with different heads. No matter who makes figures they are never ever going to please everyone because we all have our own ideas of what the perfect figure is. I wish the basics weren’t so garbage and that the elites had more personalised torsos but that’s not a reality.

The same awful distribution that eventually plagued DC Universe Classics to the point it was no longer fun to collect.

Mattel imo need to start doing stuff with rings, I don't get how any kid could use a spring ring they're just horrible. Also it's annoying that we've gone through another stage of Scale Rings that are different so now if they do a Hell in a Cell or Elimination Chamber (although HIAC doesn't matter as much) and we haven't seen them, also the steel cage wasn't easy to get in the UK not sure how bad it was in America. On the other hand the pop up stages seem to look so nice and realistic and really affordable along with the crowd pop ups, I hope they start doing more for PPV's

Jakks did an excellent job in a lot of ways with the RA line, but Mattel has done a fairly solid job with its line as well. My biggest issues are the lack of lesser known legends, and how difficult it is to keep up with picking up all the new characters. Liv Morgan, Pat Patterson, Maryse, and Andrade all require a different store, while characters like Roderick Strong, Wendi Richter, and Gorilla Monsoon might not ever see the light of day at all. I'd also say Jeremy was a lot more forthcoming with information, whereas Bill will often either leave us in the dark, or isn't given basic information about the lines he works on. Both of those things are likely attributed to the size of the company, but they're still glaring detriments to this line. Bill had a tantrum and left the board. This is a place he should be, so he can learn what actual fans want. We're a huge focus group for him right here. The guy is so snobby - he makes who he wants and doesn't listen to anyone else.

If anyone here just happened to be looking for some sort of academic study on directed questioning, this thread just made your day.
"So, really now - if we exclude the complete litany of advances and expanded offerings Mattel has offered us since picking up the license ten years ago, what improvements have they really even made over what Jakks already had to offer?"

Better Championship Title Belts. From action figure sized to kids sized, the Championship Title Belts that Mattel produces are vastly superior to what Jakks has given us.

Mattel hasn’t been perfect but OP sounds a little like sour grapes because they haven’t made so and so or whoever. Quality/ details, scale and saying “besides of macho man, steamboat , etc” who else have they really done jakks didn’t do? Wait a sec, Macho Man was a HUGE get for Mattel. Counting him as just one guy Mattel did is undervaluing the demand there was for modern macho figs. Not to mention mattel has given us just about every version of macho man you could want. Even if you didn’t want all of them, surely one for everyone. For me, Magnum TA was also awesome to get that jakks didn’t do. And we still need a full attire early ‘90-Mid 91 Neon cowboy Macho King. And a full attired Late’91-Fall ‘92 Neon Cowboy Face Macho Man

I'm going to ignore your "not counting current guys" thing and say that Mattel has made a ton of people Jakks didn't make. The whole of the line is made up of more than just classic superstars. These silly Mattel vs. Jakks threads do nobody any good. There are pluses and minuses to both. In both action figure hobbies I collect. WWE is Mattel vs. Jakks. In Marvel Legends it’s Toybiz vs. Hasbro.

Belts that aren’t made of stiff plastic and break easily. They’re also really shiny and fully painted. And they don’t have that weird zip tie strap hanging out on one side.
Steamboat, Savage, Elizabeth, Kevin & Kerry, Magnum
All Mark Henry’s are fully clothed.
Personalized accessories
Rey Mysterio is short and Kevin Nash is tall.
Much better torsos and arms (except Rhyno lol)

The only thing Jakks has on Mattel is they were easier to buy in stores. They also had a deeper selection of Flashback/Legends/etc. Their Classic Superstars line had a new series every other month, I believe, and we got a bunch of figures that I'm sure Mattel will never make. Mattel's figures are much better, of course, but getting Flashbacks from them is like pulling teeth. And now with figures and lines being cancelled, store exclusives like Backlund and Sherri and Patterson, and figures that barely show up like Harley Race, it's gotten even worse.
