Let me start by saying that I currently have a rather large collection of Hasbros. I am actually only missing the green cards, Dusty Rhodes and the black/silver HBK and blue/purple Razor. So I am pretty happy with my collection, even more so as most of these are the figures from my childhood.
A few months ago (it was around February I think) I was in a charity shop here in the UK and there was a random Hasbro Sgt Slaughter on the shelf. They wanted 99p for this! I already have Sgt Slaughter, but this one was in better condition. SIDE BAR: The Sgt Slaughter I already have could actually be the same one that I won from the DJ Kat Show competition when I was a kid. I say "could" because I already had Sgt Slaughter when I won it as a kid and I gave one away to a friend!
Anyway, I picked it up and was very happy with it. Then around 6 weeks or so later, in a used video game store that also sells toys. They had a Bret Hart (the first one) it was in the window along with a S2 Ultimate Warrior. As these were in the window, behind a glass case I thought that they would be expensive. I thought, what the hell and asked. The dude said £1.50 each! I snapped em both up.
Then we get to yesterday, I was in Newcastle, went into a charity shop and in a basket full of toys I found Brian Knobbs, S2 Macho Man Randy Savage, Repo Man and IRS. All of these were marked at 50p each!
So I have started collecting up Hasbro's again. However, my rule is that I am not actively hunting them out. I know that the prices of these things has gotten rather insane. So I am just having fun coming across them as I do when they are dirt cheap. Who knows I might only find one more or even none by the end of the year. I must say that coming across these even though I already have them has been a real blast.
As for the collection I already have, I do not ever see myself getting the green cards, Dusty or the other HBK and Razor as I do not think I could bring myself to pay for them as I am a real cheapskate.
