If you have room. Pack it all up and store it away. In months or a year from now go back and look and you will probably want to set everything back up.
Now that retros are dead, I'm probably selling most of my collection off except for my flashback elites. Other than that I'm pretty much over it.

At the moment I have no room to display anymore figures so I have most of my figures mainly Marvel Legends in bins and stored them away. I don't plan to sell anything, because I love collecting and it's all a matter of being patient until I get my own place.

For me, living in Canada, I have slowed down collecting over the past few years, but that is mainly because of the exclusives that the USA stores get that we will never see. That and our stores can skip an Elite line, or even two lines in a row. Our Amazon gets some stuff that we don't see in stores, but still not enough to have us keep up with everything.
So I did slow down, and I really don't have a 'want' to collect anymore, but I will buy the odd figure I see that I need for my collection.
Now 90s hockey cards on the other hand, I have gotten into that pretty heavy and am loving every minute of it!

This video from Toy Galaxy really hit me hard. Thanks to Dan and his channel, I've figured out a much more enjoyable way in toy collecting for myself.

I get it. Tastes and priorities change. I've reached a point where I feel If I can't display it properly, there really isn't a point in having it. I have a garage full of collectibles I have been slowly unloading.
While I don't think I'll get rid of everything, there are some items I know I'll never find again, I am definitely trying to streamline.

Hot Toys was the hardest drug to kick. I sold my elite collection 4 years ago (complete) and have regretted it since. I’m up to about 50 figures now, it’s a slow climb back to completion. I say, get it out of sight, and when that bug returns, you have minimal catching up to do.

If you don't have the passion anymore, I know where you are, and it's time to stop collecting for now. See what happens from there.
From AWA Remcos which were from my childhood, to BCA's to WCW Toybiz to Hasbro's (which I collected during BCA era) to RA/CS to Mattel to TNA Jakks, I've sold off thousands of figures when I lost my passion for collecting. Right now the only ones I regret selling was the Mattel Elite/Legends lines. Some of these figures are so expensive that it's gonna be very difficult to rebuy these figures due to their values.
I was away 5 years and now I'm back collecting early to mid 90s flashbacks, for the most part. Hold off on selling your collection even if you think you should. Like you said, you don't need the money so it's not worth it. Stick em in a few boxes and tuck them in your closet or basement for a rainy day. Never know what'll happen.

I'm starting to. I need to get rid of what I have.

I didn’t quit collecting but I gave up 99% on WWE. I’ve bought maybe 8 figures over the last 3 years Marvel legends on the other hand.... I was just about to say exactly this. There aren't a lot of new Championship Title Belts for me to buy, and now I've shifted my focus on all things Infinity Gauntlet.

I don't WANT to sell my stuff for various reasons and I don't NEED to sell it for the money, it just seems like I should because I don't seem to care anymore. Anyone else feel that way sometimes? How do you move on from it? Did you actually sell and regret? For me, one day I randomly just lost interest. This is way back in the Jakks Pacific days. I dunno what prompted me to lose interest and stop buying them as I did, but when I did, I truly stopped collecting. Lots of figures and accessories went on eBay when I did need some money, but most of my old TTL figures I sold to this guy I met on craislist who was buying them for his son. I'm still sitting on old TTL and about 16 nice BCA figures, but sold off a ton of accessories and a handful of sought-after TTL-era figures. As for a more recent collection... I collected amiibo, starting with the Super Smash Bros series. I had a really, really impressive wall with each one hung, and wasn't missing many at the time to complete my entire collection of the SSB line. Fast forward and I told myself I was only keeping my Yoshi and Kirby, the first two I bought. But over time I even sold those two. For me, it's a money/supply & demand from Nintendo. I still have Smash Bros 1st prints that I can't sell for the life of me, but at one point, they were going for a lot of eBay. Nintendo's extremely sporadic restocking of those things made some trend for big prices on eBay. The final straw for me was when they branched away from the SSB line and started making them for almost every game out there. Zelda BOTW had just come out, and Zelda-themed amiibo were selling like crazy... They were as common as walking into a store and buying them until BOTW. Link particularly was, anyway. I wound up selling the 4 figures (which I initially had no intention of selling either, as I'm a huge Zelda fan) for about $220 (the 4 from SSB) in their boxes, mint. At that point, I just kind of let the chips fly and sold a lot. I did buy two other Zelda amiibo--Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword--but I sold those too. Then Nintendo releases a line up Zelda figures which wound up hard to come by/scalper bait. Thing is, nobody wants a lot of my old amiibo still, and I've been trying to sell them all off sans maybe my Midna (Wolf Link) but still have 10+ MIB. I guess my gaming collection had some other nice pieces which sat on display by the amiibo wall...but for money reasons, I started selling a lot of that stuff as well. Probably before I even sold an amiibo.

I stopped collecting wrestling figures 10 years ago when I got into a relationship, it was towards of the Jakks contract expiring so they just released trash and nothing was really worth buying. By the time Mattel took over I wasn’t even remotely as interested in WWE to want to buy figures so yeah, despite there being some amazing figures released over the years, I don’t miss it but I do enjoy seeing the product evolve and improve drastically. I did buy a few SH Figuarts Goku figures over the last few years, I haven’t gone out of my way to buy every single one, I’ll just buy every notable form (base, SS, SS3, SS god, SS blue) Super Saiyan 2 and 4 haven’t been released yet but I’ll buy Mastered Ultra Instinct when it’s out next year.

I've thought about it but I see these figures and I just want to buy them, I only really buy the ones I like or haven't got. I just feel like I need a hobby where I can look at them not on a screen and think "damn look how cool these are"

I almost sold all of mine for $17k a few months ago ... but my wife talked me out of it.
I mean we didn’t need the money or anything like that, but I was growing tired of the scalping ect ... however, I’m glad that my wife talked me out of it !

I started collecting in 2008, and winded down in 2014. I started to feel very self conscious being 8th grader collecting. And I felt it wasn't right. It was stupid. Then I got caught up with High School social world. And I only grabbed couple figures between 2015-2017. I got back into collecting late last year. I think at times it's finical burden. If you need to put the money else where or have other interests and ventures that cost money. It's weird sad and resentful feeling I got. But, I been really happy collecting again.b

It's not that I'm feeling like quitting but more so ... there's nothing really great left to buy if you're a legends collector, so it's just a null feeling.
I still need a couple of HTF legends but everything is pretty much complete. And like some here said, I don't like the current product so I don't buy 95% of the figures they make. I ditched cable too and I don't even miss watching WWE at all. I just watch classic matches on the network, do some figure photography, etc.
Now if Mattel did what Jakks did and started pumping out all kinds of first-time-in the-line legends ... that'd garner interest but yeah, I feel you.

In my case there just aren't a lot of figures that catch my eye enough to buy. I love looking at the photos of them at Ringside Fest or Toy Fair, but besides that I have no urge to buy anymore.
My collection went from getting every figure to only getting one of a superstar that I like (Buddy Murphy, Ali, Tomasso, etc.). Besides that there is no need for me anymore. I only collected retros but then that line got canceled.

Its dying out for me.
What i ended up doing, i do not go to stores much anymore, rather I wait till the figures and most of them at one point or another are cheaper than retail on ebay or through trades. It saves alot of money. 2nd thing I did was sell any extras or doubles, I have only 1 of each figure from now on.
For in store fun. I switched to buying Horror neca ultimates and cloth retro. There always constantly stocked when they are released, excellent quality and great display.
If you think of selling. Box it up and put it away. A few months later go back to it and then sell or set that display back up.

Yes, I've done it like 9 times. It always finds a way of creeping back up, albeit slower every time. Harley Race was the last straw. Most of it went after that, but I got sidetracked and stopped selling stuff (and picked up three or four (literally) Elites in moments of weakness, usually on trips. Next time I move, none of this $#!t is making the trip.
