San Diego Comic Con kicks off with Preview Night at 6:00 PM Pacific Time (9:00 PM Eastern). For those who are new or may have forgotten, I thought I’d explain how the next few days typically works.
Preview Night (Wednesday, July 17):
Doors open at 6:00 PM local time. Pics start showing up on social media 20-30 minutes after. Not much is revealed. Basically seeing the setup with figures we’ve already seen. Probably a few teases and maybe a new reveal or two.
Day 1 (Thursday, July 18):
Doors open at 9:30 AM Pacific (12:30 PM Eastern). Pics start showing up about 20-30 minutes after. New figures will be added to the display which should all be new reveals.
The panel starts at 11:15 AM Pacific (2:15 PM Eastern). There have been live streams in the past, but not in the last couple of years. After introducing the panel and some banter, the presentation usually starts 10 minutes after. Pics start showing up shortly after that.
Following the panel more figures are added to the display consisting of what was revealed at the panel.
Days 2-4 (Friday to Sunday, July 19-21):
Doors open at 9:30 AM Pacific (12:30 PM Eastern). A couple new figures may be added to the display each day. Pics show up 20-30 minutes after.
Other than checking these boards I would recommend following Ringside Collectibles on all social media platforms. Ryder and Hawkins will be there so possibly follow them. Action Figure Attack is active on Instagram during these events and has done live Q&As in the past. Bill Miekina also has shown teases on social media in the past years (IG is what he’s currently active on). Rodert Rudman (yesreallyrob) from Mattel, too. WWE.com has also shown reveals on their site during SDCC.
RSC’s Q&A with Mattel usually gets posted the Wednesday following the event (possibly July 24).
*If there’s anything that I should add or correct (social media follows, times, etc) then please let me know and I’ll update the post.
**Keep in mind Mattel tries to change things up slightly every year so everything may not go exactly as described.
*** Chicago in the past has always updated the main page of the official thread with every new photos and videos throughout the event so you don’t have to search through pages and pages looking for reveals.
