Lemme set a backstory.
I was working at the Exton, PA location for the company I work for. In November, the store manager and assistant manager of the Newark location both gave their two weeks notice on the same day. That left that store in a bind. They filled the position with a guy that had previously worked for the company before the 2016 merger.
So over the 2½ months after they rehired the manager, they had a rotation of managers and assistant managers from stores in the area go and help the manager get acquainted with all the changes that had happened since he was gone. I was included on that rotation a couple times. In January, I e-mailed the then District Operations Manager and expressed interest in being Assistant Manager there on a regular basis. That was granted, and I transferred to that store on a permanent basis in February. It was a nice pay bump and with it, came a move to a salaried position.
Fast forward to recently, and some information came to my knowledge that the store manager had been written up a couple times for procedure violations. They included not participating in mandatory conference calls and not taking bank deposits on a daily basis.
On July 9th, we were set to have what the company calls the annual tie-out REDONE because our store failed it in April. Inventory counts, safety inspections, and the like. Well, our store failed again 2 weeks ago. And during that count, it was discovered that the store manager allowed some paint shop upgrade equipment to leave without having paperwork done proper for it. These were the final two straws, and on July 11, the Operations Manager came down from Allentown, PA to relieve the store manager of his position.
This is where I come in. I was named acting manager for the last 2 weeks. And during that meetup on July 11, the Operations Manager told me he would be realigned to a new district and a new lady was taking over our area as district manager.
Then, today happened. The new Operations Manager and the District Sales Manager [who owned my store and 4 others before the 2016 acquisition] stopped in, and during the conversation I had with them, the new Operations Manager offered me the permanent Manager position for my store. Which I accepted.
A whirlwind of feelings came over me, good feelings. I've been employed by the company for just shy - 3 days - of 3½ years, and I've moved from delivery representative to Store Manager in that time. It includes another bump of $5,500 annually in pay and and I'm now eligible for the Manager's Bonus program, which could see an additional $7,200 a year.
A big step for me, for sure. A huge opportunity, and I'm knocking the entire door down.
