I mean.......... several Democrats in the primary are literally running on Medicare-For-All. You must be 13. Politicians lie. Now you know. If you seriously think Bernie Sanders is lying about wanting Medicare-For-All, you are a fool. Whether you think he could get the congressional support he needs to implement it is a different story, but he would lose running on Medicare-For-All before abandoning it.

Ok, well then here’s a discussion between top Democratic candidates : "] The "they're taking away all our guns" argument is so played. Not even accounting for the fact that sh*t would never stand up in the courts, semi-automatic weapons of war should not count as tools of "personal protection".

I see this thread getting locked Seems to be headed that way I’m not usually in the “bitch about how things are handled here” camp, but I’ll never understand the excessive swiftness with which political posts get shut down here after getting heated. I’ve yet to see, in this thread, the type of ad hominem attacks that run rampant throughout other threads on these forums page after page. Hell, all it takes is one little store exclusive over in WFT, and before long you’ll have 25+ pages of people demeaning one another over $20 worth of plastic and cardboard, but if the subject is politics - whoa, buddy. Shut that sh*t D O W N. Really, if it’s gonna happen anyway, just do it and be done with it. It’s stupid to string those of us along who want to enjoy the discourse just to have it shut down over heated arguments tamer in tone than the type of discussions held elsewhere here.

I'm willing to give this thread a chance, but given the bombshell by Pelosi today, I've got a feeling this thread is going to go more south than a proper dish of biscuits and gravy.
That said, this is a BIG deal, regardless of where you are on the political spectrum. Taking out the minority "elder" members of WF (aged 35+), this is completely foreign territory for many of us. I've a damn PhD in history and the official announcement of the impeachment inquiry is something I never, ever thought I'd see in my life. I've read about Johnson, Nixon, and Clinton but just that. Read about them. I see no way Trump isn't impeached. The numbers are just way too against him. The real test will be when Justice Roberts is called to the Capital to preside over Trump pleading his case in front of the Senate where it REALLY matters. Will he or won't he, we just don't know yet. The fact that we just had a 100-0 vote by the Senate to clear the way for the whistle-blower records to come to light, thus paving the way for the inevitable trial...McConnell, as much as I dislike the man, wouldn't have agreed to that vote if he didn't think something was up. This wasn't just a "save my seat" vote like we see both parties do. The fact that the Senate Majority Leader allowed a vote to go through nuclearly, without ever having to go through committee, and being unanimous is very, very telling.
A good portion of this site, myself included, have never seen something like this in our lives. And for our British counterparts, they're having a very similar discussion regarding PM Boris Johnson. This just doesn't happen every day, and whether you're British or American, this affects you GREATLY regardless of which side you are on. We should be able to discuss this. However, if it disintegrates into something vile I will personally drop the lock, and the axe on whoever turned it sideways.

Wanna know why political topics get locked ... it’s because once someone makes valid points that the other side cant handle, it’s considered done.
There are way to many babies in this world, that can’t handle a conversation with someone else that doesn’t agree with them.
I can talk about almost anything all day with anybofy, but when it comes to just common sense topics and issues that both sides should overwhelmingly agree on, THATS when the butt-hurt USUALLY shows.
I votes for Obama and will always claim if asked or the situation presents itself, but if I were to tell a Democrat that I voted for him, then I’m called a liar and their mind is made up
The ecact same scenario goes for when I tell people that I vated for Trump because I agree with America first and some of his policies ... not all, some ... I’m automatically called a bigot / racist / homophobe ect ...
You dont have to like someone to vote for them, but when you cant even agree that someone does something that benefits the country that they live in and the people that live in it, then you’re just looking to argue because you cant get past the fact of being wrong.
I’ve been wrong thousands of times in my life, but I’ve always admitted it. I’ve honest to God never seen so many unAmerican people over these past 8 years in my entire life. All because of who you vote for ... it’s unbelievable how fast people are to judge you.
I voted for Trump, but I also donate to St. Judes Hospital, ASPCA and believe in the constitution and especially the 2nd amendment. When you have a Presidential candidate come up on stage and say “Hell Yes, We’re Gonna Take Your Guns !” ... it’s just a show to gey people stirred up ... Trump does the exact same thing.
The only difference is, the left try to deflect it (just like was said above) while a true American would call out anyone that said something that idiotic ... however, the Democrats cheered 🤦🏼♂️
I’m a f’kin American. I believe in America first, LEGAL immigration, and the Constitution. WHY, on earth, would a party every literally make a campaign that opposes that ? Why ?!
Anyways, I’m not arguing with anybody here, but if people start taking stabs at someone because they have a differemce in opinion, thats one thing ... but to type the “last word” in and lock a topic is pathetic and childish, imo 💯
Ya’ll fellas have a good one 🍻

I, too, am an American. I, too, believe in the Constitution. I love this country and the freedoms it has granted. I believe this country should be the shining example for others around the world, the inspiration for those who live oppressed and impoverished at the mercy of their own governments. I believe this nation has the strength, the ability, and the duty to provide for those who cannot; to help up those who are down on their knees; to allow for someone to follow and achieve their grandest aspirations, no matter their race, gender, or religion; to advocate and defend the advancement of knowledge so its people can make well-informed decisions without contamination from special interests or the glorification of willful ignorance and obedience; and to live free from fear, discrimination, and tyranny.
Is the United States perfect? Hell no. Many shameful moments exists in its history, some perpetrated by otherwise honorable men. Even today, the amount of inequality, injustice, greed, heartlessness, and corruption seem to plague every facet of society. But what truly makes this country great are the stories and journeys of those who strive every day to right these wrongs, those who don't stand idly by and allow prejudice or privilege dictate who does or doesn't succeed in life.
That is why I see our nation's flag as a symbol of what the US could be and what its citizens should demand it be. Not some prop to be wrapped around one singular viewpoint or thought process, to be envoked as a shield whenever their narrow, self-serving beliefs are challenged.

Not some prop to be wrapped around one singular viewpoint or thought process, to be envoked as a shield whenever their narrow, self-serving beliefs are challenged. I completely agree with this. However, what I'm getting at is there are people that are defending people that burn and destroy our flag, while waiving their own... et want to come here and dont care if they break our laws ... only for one party to DEFEND THEM. THAT should be an all around support of keeping this sort of stuff out of our country. I personally know of 3 people that came to this country legally and when they see these people that have total disregard for our laws, it embarrasses them. I don't agree with how Trump goes about a lot of things, but when it comes to simply asking for people to come over here LEGALLY .. I'm all for that. Absolutely NO reason as to why ANYONE would disagree with that, unless they benefited from it. The other half of that problem, is that there does need to be a much faster way for those that truly want to become citizens of this country, to be able to fulfill that. I'm not just talking about Mexican people, there's many illegal's over here from all over the world. The other issue that I have with the left is that they are always pandering and grasping at straws to minorities, or other small groups for votes. You literally get on stage and tell the world that you're going to take away guns ... I mean, really dude ... He said that to get a "pop", but in reality he thinks that he can really ride this for votes. Again, Trump did this too with his "Make Mexico pay for the wall" bs ... but I mean THIS goes against constitutional rights, but then they'll turn right around and claim something that Trump tries to do as unconstitutional. I'm a simple man ... I love this Country, Military, Ice Cold Beer, Baseball, Trucks, Football, and f'kin wrestling figures. Things like LEGAL Immigration, Our Military and the love for this country shouldn't be an argument point for votes.

One week youre with a girl, then the next week youre with a guy ... yea, it’s either a choice or a mental disorder. I’m so sick of the “born this way” nonsense. People crying about someone else to accept how they are, but yet can’t accept themselves is sort of out there ... so, yeah, when you dont know what you want ... or just be with whomever will accept you, that’s not normal. I have no problem with how anyone wants to live their life, but if you keep that stuff to yourself, instead of parading it around and basically asking for attention, then feeling wont get hurt when people that dont agree with that confront it. Actually, I have a gay friend ... he’s said that it’s 100% a choice and that he chose it because he doesn’t care about having a child. Kinda odd reason to make that decision, but whatever ... HOWEVER, he doesn’t parade it around and basically demand attention for his decision. I have also defended him when I overheard others talking about him because they had the assumption that he might be gay. He’s a good person, but while I dont agree with his lifestyle choice, I’m not damning him for it. JUST because you’re gay doesn’t mean that you aren’t accepted, but what MAKES people that don’t agree with that lifestyle choice pissed off is when it’s thrown in your face constantly and you get tired of seeing it. I mean, ok, so youre gay ... whoopie, I mean, what do you want ... 👍🏻 Yea, but that has absolutely nothing to do with Presidential campaigning, so since the mods want this to stay on topic, then stay on topic... don’t get it locked.

I gave my reason as to why I think about a topic, with no slander or name calling, but was then immediately called names. So, let’s see what happens... Will a conservative be punished for simply following the topic discussion, giving a legit reason for his beliefs and never instigating any sort of arguement or will the liberal that went clearly against the rules [name calling], instigated an arguement and clearly couldn’t control his wording when someone didn’t agree with his way of thining, get banned. This was clearly stated by an admin 👍🏻

You can't claim the high ground of being sensible and reserved in the delivery of your feelings on a matter and then purport to be taken aback when you receive vitriolic kickback if the crux of your opinion is "homosexuals have a mental deficiency". Hiding behind "it's just my opinion/that's just how I feel" is a discussion tactic meant to shield oneself from opposing points of view by shutting down an outward willingness to being open to points to the contrary. My dad does it all the time. If your opinion is blatantly denigrating of a certain person or people, heightened, emotional kickback is all but inevitable. It's always funny when someone purports to be open and willing to discuss anything with anyone, and then proceeds to try and do so using polarizing and hostile language before blaming the other side for being unwilling to come to the table. It's the old adage that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Nobody's expecting anyone to tiptoe around their individual points of view, but Christ as a cracker...the lot of us would do well to shout down a mirror before stepping out the front door with our views in hand, ready to take on the world.
My dad always says "that's my opinion, and you have to respect it". That's a load of sh*t. I should respect your right to an opinion, but if your opinion is one that is at odds with my personal values, I don't have to respect it in the least. It's the same sort of short-sighted mindset behind anyone who cries "Freedom of speech!" when their views are challenged or they suffer ill consequence for expressing views that lack a certain societal awareness.
