Figure I put a thread here in the classic section so us older fans can reflect on one hell of a career.
Another one that stings. RIP Mr .Race.

Was about to do this.
Man his match with Hogan at SNME felt hardcore. What a legend, Superbowl of Wrestling II was a big one between him and Superstar for the NWA and WWWF titles.

A true legend. That word gets used a lot, but you look up the definition of that word, and the description will read “Harley Race”.
R.I.P. Harley, you can rest now.

I feel like Ive been kicked in the stomach. Last year the 4 Horsemen were at Fanboy Expo and I got to meet Ric Flair. I started looking at some of the "old timers" who might not be around long and wanted to make sure I got their autograph & met them. Harley was at the top of that list.
I wasnt sure how I was going to get to meet him until this past June when he was announced for Fanboy himself. I came cash ready to get multiple autos, tell him thanks for everything and show my appreciation. When I got there though Barbarian was sitting in his chair. We waited around and my brother & I started chatting and the promoter of the show heard me mention Harley's name. He came over and quietly told us that Harley was in the hospital in Atlanta and likely wouldnt be there today but hopefully would be there tomorrow.
Saturday came & went...Sunday came and went and no Harley. I followed his updates on his twitter for a couple of days but ultimately moved on once I got back into the swing at work. I think it was last week I checked on his update only to find out that he was STILL in the hospital in Atlanta. I knew at that point that not only did I miss my chance but realistically there wouldnt be another.
Wrestlers give everything to us fans night in and night out. During his trip to Knoxville, Harley decided to give everything he had to us (me) one last time. Even though I didnt get to say thank you in person. I will forever be grateful
RIP King

For so many years I have watched Survivor Series 88 and thought about what an awesome team Andre had and how sad that Harley was the only one still alive.
Now the book has closed on that team's story.
Harley just looked like a tough SOB. RIP.

Just so everyone can see it... Trevor Murdoch just said that they wanted to take Harley from Atlanta to ST. Louis because they knew he was in very bad shape. And Medicare refused to pay for the med-flight. So someone called WWE and within minutes the bill was paid in full. Said Vince took care of everything without hesitation. He thanked him for giving Trevor two more days with Harley.

Big props to Vince on that.
Harley Race was favorite of mine...loved his hard nosed style. Often watch his matches with Flair. LOVE his SNME match with Hogan too...its a dream match that delivered in my book. Enjoyed his WWF run.
Also enjoyed Harley as a manager...felt he was a big part of what made WCW decent around that time. Thought he was a great fit for Luger then Vader.
R.I.P Harley your work is done......

Do you have his King figure from the classic series? Unfortunately no. I do...one of Jakks best. They did a tremendous job on both of his figures IMHO.

I really hope they either re-release it or make another one. Maybe a two-pack with he and Heenan. I know a certain guy around here would buy that one. Just like another guy around here would get a Cornette Mattel figure if it ever gets released:)

This one hit me pretty hard. I'm in the minority, but I preferred his WWF King of Wrestling gimmick to anything else he'd done. I was a huge KHR mark '86 to '88. Still kicking myself for missing my one chance to see him wrestle (VS. Scott Casey <substituting for Sam Houston>) live at a WWF show in Boise (I had a football game that night).
I own two three of his Jakks figs (one MOC KHR, one loose KHR, and one MOC NWA Race). Love the figs, but bothered by the inaccurate crown. Especially since a Memphis Lawler was released in the very next CS series with a crown that work have worked a LOT better than the one they gave Race (if in purple instead of red).
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm REALLY hoping to get my hands on a Mattel KHR at some point... Hopefully via re-release. I'll never have the spare funds to purchase on of the few WM ones floating around, based on the current asking price (which I'm sure will only go up until a re-release takes place!).
