One long wait is over. After years upon years of declining to add the music to the platforms, Maynard has finally allowed Tool's catalogue to be added to streaming services. Huge day.
A Perfect Circle and Puscifer have been there. But never Tool until today. Everything from the Opiate EP to 10,000 Days. I've been listening to them all day.
The second long wait is 4 weeks away from ending. The 5th album, titled Fear Inoculum , will finally be released on 30th August.

I'll say what I said back in 2002. "No thanks." Never understood that so many people like their music. Good for the people that enjoy their music I guess.

I've listened to some of their stuff since my brother is a huge fan. They're a decent band. I can see why they were a holdout on putting their music on Streaming services.

NEW SONG! Just went live 5 minutes ago:
The CD is apparently going to have a 4" video screen that you can recharge w/ speakers and a booklet. It's about $45 on Amazon right now for pre-order.

The way this thing just leaked is hysterical. Obviously, DO NOT POST LINKS or anything like that. But here's the story:
This dude "obtained" the physical CD early, but he had one problem - he didn't know how to rip CDs. So he asked some nearby people on Reddit if they could help him out. He goes to LAS VEGAS and meets this guy at The Mirage (I think it was?). He posted pictures holding the coveted new album with the Vegas lights in the background, proving his legitimacy. Apparently, he handed it off to some guy at the hotel and then *poof* it appears online 2 hours later (just a little bit ago as of this post).
Anyway, "Pneuma" is everything I love about Tool. "Chocolate Chip Trip" is freakin' weird. I'm saving the final song, "7emptest" (the one everyone praises as the best) for when my CD comes on Friday.

New album is great. Had it on repeat since release. Pneuma and Invincible are strong standouts to me.

Oh man, Pneuma is so good! I really like Descending, too. I feel like the live bootlegs of Descending and especially Invincible don't do those songs as much justice. I didn't really care for Invincible on the bootleg that much, but on the album with all the production and effects used, I'm super into it. How about that harmonizing guitar solo in Descending? So good!
The artwork is really well done, too. Some beautiful art (the torch!), high quality pages/CD sleeve, and the video inside...what a presentation this thing has. My favorite album is Lateralus, but I think this one is close to it. I definitely like it more than 10,000 Days. It feels so good to know that despite all the time it took, this thing lived up to being a good album.

Man, when that riff kicks in on Pneuma about a minute or so into the song.... and then when the other guitars join in about 10-15 seconds later...just wow. I'm not even a metal or heavy rock guy really, but Tool does it for me. I love the weirdness and the visual aspects to their work. I don't collect cds anymore, and gave all mine to my younger cousin a few years back (including my copies of Lateralus and 10,000 Days) but man I really want the physical copy of FI because of how cool it looks.

Yeah, I've moved away from metal a bit since I've gotten older, but I still dig a few bands (like Tool). Anathema, The Dear Hunter and Porcupine Tree are my main fav bands these days, though PT has been dead for a full decade next year, which makes me feel old. Tool and APC were my babies in high school, so for them to come back after 13 years after I started listening to different styles of music and reminding me of my youth in a way that I'm fully embracing has been cathartic in a way. I think back to my grandma still being alive, me being in HS and fresh out of tumultuous relationship, and other random things like it being right before smart phones took over and all that. It has been a long time both personally for me and in terms of cultural changes we can all relate to.
