The biggest mistake in wrestling history, so what if Bischoff didn’t fire him? What would be the plans for Austin if he stayed? Would he be a main eventer in WCW? Or would he have left thanks to Hogan? (Could you imagine Austin in the nWo?)

I sadly see him in the jobber role. Bischoff just never saw anything in em so I cant see him doing anything of note if he stayed.
Him jobbing to Duggan toward the end of his run there still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

He wouldve been 1 of 17 guys in the ring wearing NWO shirts when Hogan was cutting promos on Nitro

Was he not good friends with Kevin Nash at one point? He may have got a favourable rub and a good position.
And bear in mind Vince saw him as a mechanic in the ring, nothing more, in the beginning.
It seems that the only person who had an inkling of what to do with him from the start was Paul Heyman in ECW.

I guess it all depends... there is a chance Austin would have signed with the WWE once his WCW contract expired.
But I remember in late 1995 thinking that with Pillman joining the Horsemen, that Austin would be the fourth member. I wasn't watching ECW at the time since I didn't get it on TV, so I had no clue that Austin had already debuted in ECW doing the Steve-a-mania thing.

A Blonds reunion in the Horsemen?Hell Yeah!

Austin had already debuted in ECW doing the Steve-a-mania thing. I love his promos in ECW, especially the Monday Night quill skit

WCW would have lasted longer and maybe still be around today. The Attitude Era wouldn’t have been nearly as successful. But as far as Austin goes we’d have had Stunning Steve Austin but he wouldn’t have gone higher than a United States Champion and tag team champion.

The horror of even considering him staying in WCW sometimes makes me physically ill. No WWF move? No Stone Cold Steve Austin...the most popular star wrestling ever seen at its height.
If Austin had stayed in WCW its a sure thing he would have been no better off than a midcarder and lucky to be even that. With the influx of talent Bischoff brought in during 95/96 Steve would have been forgotten about. His job to Duggan showed what Eric thought of him.
No Stone Cold Steve Austin.....its too horrifying to even contemplate.

He was just angry at the way Bischoff went about doing so.

He would have eventually been gone and working as a dock worker at some freight company now.

If Austin wasn't fired I could see him quitting WCW. Maybe later than his fire date but I doubt Austin would have stuck around in a jobber role, which is where he was headed. Would Stone Cold have happened? Who knows. For some reason I see his ECW run as inevitable though.

Heyman had networked himself well in ECW - a lot of early 90s WCW wrestlers came through Philly. Steve would find it irresistible, just as he did when Bischoff gave him his goodbye.
from ECW Steve might have ventured into Japan as he already had a bit and developed a career there. especially considering the Owen incident never would’ve happened so he would’ve stayed technically sound.

He would have been a jobber. He had a match on Saturday Night with Savage where it feels like Macho Mans entrance was longer than the actual match. WCW saw nothing in Austin.
