Backlash 2001 Steve Austin would bash the Rock's brains out, but same with Mr.McMahon's brains. The Rock would see it as conspiracy that Austin was in with the McMahons. The two would continue to try to face off for the title on TV, but it would always end in some misplaced way. McMahon would try to align with The Rock. Seeing Austin as the greatest of the two evils. The Rock would also bash Austin's head in with steel chair. The two would face in Steel Cage ending with Steve Austin's victory at Rock taking time off.
Judgment Day 2001 would roll around and Chris Jericho would become the dark horse 1# contender. Jericho has been huge fan favorite and seemed to equal Austin in fan love at points. The two egos and minds clashed in war of words and series of these two not being on the same page. Austin would go out of his way to disrespect Jericho and McMahon would try to corrupt Jericho into his side. Leading to lack of trust and respect. Austin would win, slowly turning Jericho heel.
King Of The Ring 2001 would roll in with Triple H attacking and beating down Austin. Austin and Triple H weren't done from No Way Out 2001. Triple H was with vengeance and his father in law by his side. McMahon would award Triple H the 1# contenders match after beating Shane in Last Man Standing at Judgment Day. The Game was the biggest threat to Austin and the title, Austin's arch enemy. Triple H would target Austin in many ways emotionally, mentally, and physically. The two men's fight for the gold would need to be settled inside Hell in a Cell. Austin would walk away battered and still champion. Triple H would be ''injured'' kayfabe in this world. Allowing Triple H some time to cool off and prepare for face turn. McMahon's would disown Triple H.
Fully Loaded 2001 Edge would invoke his title shot for Steve Austin. Edge would witty new star going to the top and was against the establishment. Earning the respect of Steve Austin and the two would have eachothers backs. Edge was plagued by slowly jealous Christian. That would get out of hand attacking Austin and doing underhanded things that would strain their relationship. As well as Jericho's jealousy trying to take Edge out before the event. Edge lost by some miscomuincation by Christian.
Summer Slam 2001 McMahon turned to his last hope in Kurt Angle. Angle had become closer to Stephanie in Triple H's absence. Angle continued to prove himself by also teaching Shane a lesson. And proving he has beat Ausitn in the past. In this world Angle actually ran down Austin. And Austin had no problem finishing something he never got to finish. McMahon would stack the odds trying to batter Austin down for Summer Slam. And preparing for the Age of Angle. Austin would win in controversial fashion.
Unforgiven 2001 Austin's actions gave Angle rematch and would put the ball in Angle's court in Submission match. Austin would bring back his sleeper hold and try to adapt. The match would finish in Montreal Screwjob like finish with McMahon ringing the bell on Austin.
No Mercy 2001 - Angle would try to try to get under Austin's skin spraying him with milk truck, but Austin would retaliate throwing Angle's medals into the ocean. As well as attacking Angle in his hotel if Austin loses he cannot challenge for the WWF Championship so as long as Angle is champion. The match would be Falls Count Anywhere. Angle managed to beat Austin clean in the ring. Causing Austin to snap and hit Angle with ungodly amount of Stunners leaving message.
Survivor Series 2001 - Austin leads team of anti McMahon wrestlers and anti establishment guys to take on Vince's golden boys with Austin being Sole Survivor sticking it to Team McMahon. Undertaker would be on McMahon's team (his 2001 heel turn happened in October). Followed by this The Rock was back in the title picture and Angle was running scared from The Rock. Angle's ego was inflated. But, The Rock was the one man who ended Angle's title run. Angle would stack the odds at Survivor Series 2001 with series of run ins and was closing in on victory if it wasn't for Steve Austin screwing Angle out of the title.
Vengeance 2001 Austin took the mantle of giving The Rock the championship and demanded shot for the title. Angle was 1# contender because he was entitled to a rematch. Followed by, Austin triggering The Rock and egging him on to giving him a title shot. Followed by Chris Jericho on into the title scene. Be leading series of vicious attacks on all wrestlers. And black mailing Kurt Angle with some big news if he didn't get added in. Vengeance exploded with Fatal 4 Way with The Rock leaving as champion.
Royal Rumble 2002 Ric Flair forbid Kurt Angle of another title shot and forced him into #1 spot in the 2002 Royal Rumble. Angle started to train hard and heavy for this chance. Austin would assault Angle in supermarket in this world. Austin was then given the spot of lifetime #30 by Flair due to McMahon's troubles. Triple H was also scheduled to come back and he was to be given spot #25. Meanwhile, RVD was signed by McMahon to take down The Rock. RVD proved to be worth the hype in the WWF. And RVD made huge statement at the Rock's expense showing him how things were done in ECW. The Rock managed to prevail in Hardcore match at Royal Rumble 2002 for the WWF Championship. Meanwhile Kurt Angle fought a hero like battle throughout the Rumble. Angle then managed to stop Steve Austin and Triple H's showdown taking Austin out. Angle came close, but The Game prevailed winning the 2002 Royal Rumble. Chris Jericho was suspended from the Rumble due to his harassment of the McMahons.
No Way Out 2002 - Triple H had some things to solve coming back. Stephanie McMahon and the McMahon's went day and night backing Triple H up. Wanting to bring back the McMahon Helmsley Era. Kurt Angle felt blacklisted, and robbed. Angle got under the Games skin, and Chris Jericho instigating revealing the blackmail to the world. Triple H was pissed with Angle and their rivalry was back on. Angle would try to take Triple H out again. And it Triple H's WrestleMania shot was on the line at No Way Out 2002. Meanwhile Rock and Austin finally got a rematch. And The Rock was determined to settle the score. Mounting tensions since The Rock's return was ready to explode. The two would face off in draw due to Chris Jericho attack on both men ruining the main event. Angle would defeat Triple H by Stephanie McMahon turning on Triple H revealing her affair with Kurt Angle.
WrestleMania X-18 The Biggest show of the year was upon us. Stephanie McMahon and Kurt Angle together ruining Triple H's life. Triple H was betrayed out of it and Angle was going to Mania against The Rock. Angle's vengeance was upon us. But, Chris Jericho ruined the match of lifetime at No Way Out and will do the same. Steve Austin and The Rock aren't finished. Triple H was robbed of his shot. Ric Flair made the main event a 5 Man Elimination Match. The Finale of the Attitude Era in a way. A Era of wrestling in the making. The night was explosive with Kurt Angle being eliminated by Sledgehammer shot to the face followed by Pedigree by Triple H at the 15 minute mark. The McMahon's would try to take out Triple H but it would fail. Meanwhile Steve Austin in shocking turn would be eliminated by The Rock at the 22 minute stretch. The Rock continued to fire out, but Jericho caught him at 28 minutes. Jericho and Triple H faced off and Triple H's moment was upon us, until Jericho took the match at the 35 minute mark becoming WWF Champion.
Backlash 2002 - Chris Jericho was the big man on the show, and he made his way to the top. Jericho made it and his ego is running wild. Attacking anyone he sees as challenge. The Rock and Jericho would resume tension. When, The Rock beat 4 other men to become the first in line for title shot. The Rock and Jericho went at it, with Jericho capturing the win. Triple H and Angle faced off in match to see who gets their shot first. They're angle would feature the fallout from No Way Out. Triple H would get himself DQ'ed beating Angle to the point where Triple H was taken out of the arena.
Judgment Day 2002 - Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle was interesting dynamic. Both are ego crazy. But, one's the establishment and one cleary isn't. Jericho would feel the pressure building on him in this showdown. But, using his mouth and sneaky tatics to get to Angle. Jericho would get by Angle in winning effort at Judgment Day 2002.
King Of The Ring 2002 - Jericho and Austin's rivalry was brought back. With Jericho's ego trip continuing. And their rivalry from 2001, being brought back. Where Austin never saw Jericho as man. It would demonstrate where Jericho's mindset diverged and how it changed him. Jericho managed to defeat Austin. Triple H on the other hand was settling score with Angle in Hell in A Cell. The same match, year ago that put Triple H out. Triple H would rise up invoking revenge on the McMahons in winning effort.
Fully Loaded 2002 - Triple H was 1# contender for the title, things didn't go to plan. Triple H was prime and ready to take the title now. Nothing on the side. Just Jericho and the gold. Triple H was headstrong. And it seemed Jericho was on the ropes for this one. Triple H would close in on a win, but Jericho would end this with dusty finish. DQ.
Summer Slam 2002 - If Jericho gets Dq'ed he loses the title. Jericho can't run and he can't hide. The Game was upon us and he had the fans behind him ready to take the gold. Jericho would use under handed tatics. Insulting everything that's happened to Triple H since last summer and trying to set Triple H's mind of course. Jericho would escape Summer Slam 2002 the Champion.
Unforgiven 2002 - Jericho is the hottest heel in the company. But, The Rock made huge impact in return match defeating Hulk Hogan at Summer Slam 2002. Jericho and The Rock cross paths again. The Rock becomes 1# contender in a battle royal. Jericho targets The Rock, for stealing his moment at Summer Slam. The Rock overcomes the odds defeating Jericho at Unforgiven 2002. Followed by Loser leaves SmackDown match the following Thursday.
The Rock holds the gold till December dropping it to Angle. Angle is tweener after Stephanie McMahon left him and he was disowned by Mr.McMahon. Angle lost his hair due to hair vs hair match with Edge at Summer Slam. Making Stephanie leave him. Stephanie would slap Kurt and beat on him until he snapped putting her in Angle lock. Mr.McMahon was furious and enacted war. Beniot would be used as bounty hunter defeating Angle at Unforgiven 2002. However Angle would slip his way into title contention with Undertaker losing in Triple Threat featuring The Rock. Angle then would continue to fight to the title being beaten down by Big Show but returning to stop Show from beating The Rock at SS 02. Finally Angle would defeat The Rock at the final ppv of 2002. As well as form Team Angle and stay as tweener feuding with Lesnar for Mania. Jericho would go to Raw and do the same in late 02/03. Austin would retire in 03. The Rock would start to move to semi retirement after this. Triple H would sign over to Raw and try to reform DX with Shawn Michaels who in this World returns in April 2002 to win the World Heavyweight Championship tournament. Triple H backstabs Shawn and later goes on to many of the same things.
