*Sorry if this is in the wrong section
I know there's been a ton of controversy surrounding Chris Benoit's status with WWE ever since the tragedy took place. With a WWE Hall of Fame induction very slim to none, do YOU think Chris Benoit should be in the WWE Hall of Fame? Why and why not? Also, do you think WWE should hold a vote and let the "fans" like us decide whether the Rabid Wolverine is inducted or not? Even if it's a legacy induction? Let everyone know your thoughts below.

If we are going by talent and career accomplishments, then yes, Chris Benoit belongs in the WWE or any pro wrestling hall of fame. If the WWE doesnt want to induct him, thats fine. There is only one criteria for getting in and Benoit doesnt meet it...

Definitely not. Talented guy - one of the best to set foot in the ring.
I personally don’t think he was pure evil, more that we were dealing with severe mental illness (don’t hate, I mean no offence with that just an unqualified personal opinion). But the hall of fame is a celebration of the person going into it and I don’t think it’s appropriate to put Chris in it under the circumstances.
And no they shouldn’t let the fans vote on Benoit going in. I think it would cause too much controversy and stir up too much emotion. May even affect sponsorship and toy deals.
As far as I’m aware, the fans have no influence on who goes in (this may have changed, I don’t follow the product these days). And I don’t think they should either. Take someone like James Dudley. How would the fans know his contribution to the company and ultimately wouldn’t vote for him, even though he was a great servant to the company. And the likes of Koko B Ware would likely get over looked as well, denying them the chance of being in the spotlight and getting a pay day out of it. (Off topic I know, but whether it’s Benoit or not I genuinely believe fans shouldn’t be involved in the selection process)

We've only very recently entered the "MAYBE we can kinda forgive him" phase, thanks to comments by Chris Jericho and Vickie Guerrero. Check back in another 12 years and we will re-evaluate.

Based on his Wrestling Career alone, 100% yes. Though obviously the incident is too embedded in everyone's mind & even in a google search, it's one of the first things to show up, so it'll never happen.
Even if by some tiny chance, he's somehow proven innocent and it turned out to be a triple murder, clearing his name of any crime, his legacy and reputation is far too damaged to be salvaged. Even if he became an innocent man, he'd likely still never go in.

Do I think the fans should be part of the selection process? Nope I don’t think they should.

If fans could vote to see who goes into the WWE HOF, Kenny Omega and the rest of AEW would already be inducted without being a part of the WWE! Ha ha ha
As for Benoit, I always thought he was murdered along with his family. But even if that came out to be true, they could induct him into the WWE HOF, but I think it would be just one of those honorary style inductions they do at the HOF each year now, where they can put in older talent who doesn't need to have a speech or anyone induct them into it.

For sure, man. I don't even know how they would do a speech for him besides concussions and the tragedy itself. I still have no thought of what happened. IMO, there's 2-3 scenarios

Purely based on wrestling alone, he should be in the HOF. It will never happen though because of the events that happened that weekend. When you search his name, the first thing that pops up under his Wikipedia page says "Chris Benoit double-murder".

He'll never get in because of what he did.

His wrestling skills alone grant him a spot in the hall of fame, but I don't think he should ever be inducted. Those last few days of his life nullify any chance of celebrating or glorifying who he was because he murdered 2 people. WWE can't say 'Oh we're only inducting Chris Benoit the wrestler and not Chris Benoit the person' because they are one in the same. Plus, focusing solely on his wrestling career and ignoring the circumstances of the end of his life would be incredibly disrespectful to Nancy and Daniel who were killed by him. Having a hall of fame ceremony celebrating his career while Nancy and Daniel's family have suffered anger, sadness, grief etc. just doesn't work. I have no issues with saying Chris was an incredibly talented wrestler and one of the greatest of all time, but I don't think he should be put up on a pedestal and glorified.

Nope, what he did completely erases every single "good" thing he did in a wrestling ring. Imagining being his wife's parents, his son's grandparents and finding out the man who took them away from you is being honored.

There is no chance in hell of Beniot getting into the HOF, NOT A CHANCE IN HELL! (Hope you read that in Vince’s voice)

People need to stop trying to get a child murderer into the HOF when there is 0.0% chance it is going to happen anyways.
Save your time and focus on sh*t that can happen.

While he committed the murders he was also a victim. The man’s brain had so much damage because all of concussions he had that they said his brain was that of an 85 year old with severe Alzheimer’s disease. He probably didn’t even know he did it until hours later and even then he probably didn’t know for certain what happened. So yeah he was a victim also.
But he’ll never go in to the HOF because that would mean the WWE would have to address/admit the role concussions played in this tragedy. And they’ll never do that especially after winning the concussions lawsuit.

No. Regardless of how some will choose to paint the circumstances to dull the blow of what he did, the name Chris Benoit will always, always, always carry with it the weight of the fact that, in his own descent, he took his wife and his seven year old son with him. To try and put on a celebration of his career in a vacuum would be the ultimate practice in willful denial. It's almost unnerving how frequently fans try to float this idea as anywhere even remotely close to the realm of possibility.

Unless Benoit is somehow vindicated of the deaths of his family members (which won't happen), then no.
This isn't just about political beliefs or being an unsavory character. The man killed his wife and son. In this case you can't separate art from the artist.
Similarly, Jimmy Snuka should be removed from the HOF.

It's always struck me as strange how quickly they (rightfully) distanced themselves from a figure synonymous with their brand over the public release of a less than palatable aspect of his true personality, but didn't even flinch over a less-recognizable-to-the-layman figure who probably, maybe, but almost definitely murdered a woman. Wrestling is weird.
