Hey all.
If we take a look about the past of NXT, there is a lot of wrestlers who had a great run in NXT and put their names on the brands. But, if you have to take 5 names that come to mind when you see "NXT", who they will be?
I'll start with my opinion:
1) Johnny Gargano - I think this is the most first name. he earnd his "Johnny Wrestling" nickname by giving so much great matches, on TakeOver, on TV, anytime and anywhere. he was the ultimate babyface.
2) Tomasso Ciampa - One of the best heels not only in NXT but all WWE. he had a great title reign with the NXT championship but unfortunately he got injured. OFC we have to mention the great and in my opinion the best feud in NXT history - the feud with Gargano.
3) Adam Cole - he debut NXT already as a big name, but in those 2 years he proved that he deserve this big name. one of the best heels, full of chemistry, great in ring and on mic, the leader of TUE and now the NXT champion. he had so much great moments in this brand.
4) Aleister Black - so, the booking monster of NXT. he was undeafeted very long time, had great matches and amazing booking. I think he deserve a spot here.
5) so now this is the hard part, I will go with Kevin Owens. had run with the NXT title, great feud with Zayn and more, had such a great performance on the main roster as the NXT champion and much more.
Wrestlers that almost enterd the list:
Finn Balor
Ricochet
Velveteen Dream
Shinuske Nakamura
Sami Zayn

1. Finn Balor I still think of Finn as an NXT talent, stateside. His entire run there, to me, trumps everything he's done thus far on the main roster, and he's one of the first talents I can recall to extol the benefits of remaining with NXT as long as possible. For that to come from someone who could work virtually anywhere he wants cements him, to me, as a premier name associated with NXT.
2. Bayley Bayley's rise through the ranks in NXT is one of my favorite wrestling stories of all time, bar none. She went from such a simplistic, easily dismissed gimmick and ascended to not only one of the standard bearers of the NXT Women's Championship, but as a locker room leader for the women coming up through the ranks.
3. Kevin Owens KO is quite possibly the NXT success story, at least as far as the 'Takeover Era' is concerned, in as much as the Kevin Owens character competing in 2019 is not that far removed from the Kevin Owens who first made his name in NXT. For him to have had the successes he's had without the aid of a repackaging or a deviational call-up, I think, speaks volumes to the work he did during his early start.
4. Tommaso Ciampa I pick Ciampa of the DIY pairing, partially because of my familiarity with his struggles following his first departure from the WWE system, and partially because I feel that, of the two, Gargano was always seen as the one who was "supposed" to make it. The pair of them were brought in circumstantially, but of the two, I feel that Ciampa has best reinvented himself. The pop when he returns is going to dwarf anything Gargano has seen to date.
5. Shayna Baszler Probably not on anyone else's list, but IDGAF. Shayna, to me, has become synonymous with both NXT and the Women's Championship. She's been booked in every way I'd envisioned Ronda to have been, and I love to loathe the character she portrays. I feel like when he time comes, the vacuum left by her departure is going to be on par with that left behind in the wake of Bayley and Asuka.

Finn Bálor - Possibly the first big international signing for NXT. This signing really started putting eyes on the NXT brand. Started touring outside of Florida and led to the influx of top Indy talent that have been in/out of NXT.
Seth Rollins - The very first NXT Champion. I’m sure many weren’t watching at this time, as it was exclusively on Hulu. This showed that the new NXT was going to give the talent a real shot and wasn’t going to be a joke.
Adrian Neville - The winner of the very first NXT Ladder match, main event of the very first TakeOver and the very first live streamed event on the WWE Network. Which has since become the home for NXT, adding many more eyes on the product over the years.
Bayley - A character that was made in NXT. Possibly the most over talents in NXT history. With only Sami Zayn, Johnny Gargano and Enzo & Cass coming close.
Asuka - The streak. The most dominant female in NXT history. A record that will hopefully never be touched. Also the first big international talent signed to NXT’s Women’s Division and carried that division on her back once the 3 top stars were moved up to the main roster.

I think removing any one of those guys from an NXT contract would seriously change the landscape from what you see today.

Technically, KENTA (as Hideo Itami) was signed and debuted before Finn. I guess it comes down to who you think was a bigger deal. To keep this relevant... Kevin Owens Finn Balor Shinsuke Nakamura Bobby Roode Asuka

1. Finn Balor
2. Johnny Gargano
3. Bayley
4. Asuka
5. Shinsuke Nakamura
Finn was the top guy in NXT as the popularity REALLY began to gain steam. Then he passed it on to Shinsuke who had so much fanfare since the moment he was coming in. Bayley was the Finn of the women's division, so for me she's gotta be on the list too. Adam Cole could probably crack the list in the near future if he's going to remain there for a while as they move to live TV.
