The Lou Thesz Press, one of my favorite moves that Austin used to do.

Turning Shawn heel after SSlam was the best way to go
Him as the douche was real inside to how he was behind the scenes

How am I going to make money off this guy, now... If Austin did get paralyzed, the best bet was to strap the rocket to Shamrock Over like rover although he wasnt good on the mic... I feel like they didn't go "all in" with Shamrock for some reason. They'd push him big and then cool him off. I'm not sure that Ken was "all in" on wrestling either. His '97-'99 run was like a business contract to him that he satisfied and then moved on.

I liked Shamrock, but I don't think he had "it". I wonder if Austin were to have gotten injured badly and couldn't wrestle anymore, if Vince would have let Bret go. He would probably have to let the DX thing play out and give Shawn a longer run, barring he didn't get hurt either at RR98. Either that, or he would have had to offer Hollywood Hogan a stake in the company to bring him back.

I believe JR has said on his podcast that WWF wanted to strap the rocket on him but he wouldn't fully commit to wrestling

Don't think I've ever heard of any bad fan interactions with Shawn even during this time. A Marine or seven would disagree Kinda different circumstances if Shawn was messing with the dude Gf.

Interesting to think about And that is an important question. Heel Vince was a huge reason for the turnaround in fortune for the WWF. The WWF didn't take over the ratings completely until they were in the mists of the Austin/McMahon feud. His heel character was a huge reason why the WWF became popular again.
