I have bought some of the new Mortal Kombat figures. There are some things you all should know about them.
I picked up Baraka and Raiden at a KB for $6 each. After buying some of Jazwares' cheaply made Megaman figures, my fears about quality were confirmed. Their heads fell off whenever I moved them. They didn't break, the peg just doesn't have way to connect as the inside of the head is just hollowed out.
The detail is good, but the paint is a little sloppy. I will commend Jazwares on the fact that the articulation isn't stiff. Baraka came with two long blades that fit REALLY well in his wrists. They are not falling out. But I noticed that Raiden had a hole in his hand where the packaging showed a lightning bolt would fit, but he didn't come with one.
Now a week later I went with my friend to a Hot Topic that had all the MK figures except Scorpion (Dammit! )
I picked up Sub Zero. By far he is the best MK figure that I have seen. He came with a sword stuck to an extra hand, two other hands, and an ice ball. Best of all, HIS HEAD STAYS ON!
My friend bought Baraka, Raiden, and Sub Zero. His Raiden's head stays on, but the other's don't. I guess it's just the luck of the draw on that.
However, my friend's figures of Baraka and Raiden came with more accessories. Baraka came with two sets of blades (mine only came with the longer ones) and his Raiden came with the lightning bolt and some other stuff. The price at Hot Topic was $10 each, so in the end if you want to pay $4 more than at KB, you get more accessories.
One way to fix the head falling off problem is to put tack putty (the sticky stuff you use for posters) in the hole of the head. Not only does this stuff come right out without leaving a mess but it will allow movement of the head without it constantly falling off.
Hope this helps some of you looking to buy these figures. Their not bad, but they have their flaws.
