I have a bunch of the new basics they look pretty good. It's really the same thing like Jakks did BCA,TTL, R-3, Ruthless Aggression they changed styles some for better or worse, but you have a huge roster of guys in one scale.

Since we're on the subject - can the old basic boots be swapped onto the new basic figures? That new HBK in the white gear looks great, but I will have to swap boots with ankle articulation if I wanna get any use out of it.

I’m sorry but the new Mattel basic figures with no moving biceps are worse than Jakks TTL. They are very soulless looking, just buy the elite figures imo. 🤣😂🤣 what?! They still have arm articulation! Before you make a post do some research

The TTL's had stiff joints and the articulation was much worse than Mattel's basics.
Also who cares if they lost the bicep joints? I can live without them.

My biggest issue is the lack of customization options with the new shoulders and knees. I'm so accustomed to the bicep swivel everything else with looks wrong. I feel like TTL did a lot of good things all factors considered. I got my hands on a few when I was younger even though RA and CS figures are what I started with. The TTL line had it's charmed of wrestling figures being a bit closer in size and the way the legs were spread worked better for different moves. It just feels weird when a wrestling figure can't do a proper piledriver.

I haven't bought a basic in like 3 or 4 years. And just to think back when mattel got the license it was actually a hard decision if you wanted the basic or elite version of a wrestler lol. Basics back then were just as good as the elites..esp in that 2010-2013 era.

A lot of posters clearly don’t know how anatomy works.
The basics are terrible. Arms rotate at the shoulder. Not the elbow. Removing the bicep swivel makes doing certain poses impossible now. I use to enjoy the basics but haven’t bought one since the change.

I buy them for my kids, def more sturdy, I grab some for head swaps too, just wasted like13$ on the new 100 Cena & put the head on E64 Cena & there is like a huge gap on the back of his neck, so I swapped it back & gave it to my 5 year old

I’ll use the same example for you I used when this change was first put into effect. Place your arm at your side and bend your elbow to make a 90 degree angle. Now start rotating your elbow side to side without moving your bicep. If your bicep moved, you’ll understand why this basic articulation sucks. If your bicep didn’t move, you need to get your eyes checked.

I believe that people might think ttl figure were better because at that time we weren’t used to figures having good articulation like our elites do now a days.

Yeah cause the TTL line had no moving arms, head scans looked terrible, & most figures were out of scale. Yeah much better then the basic line with elbow bend, face scans that actually look like the wrestler. the first 3 series of TTLs were pretty terrible, yes. but from Series 4 on, when they started using the realscan technology Jakks put out some pretty damn good looking headscans. and every figure had articulation at the shoulder, elbow, wrist, waist, knee and ankle. In actuality those TTLs had more articulation than current basics. They were also from 20 ing years ago and you can't compare things like scale and heads to the technology they use today. Obviously Mattel's figures are better than Jakks figures from 20 years ago, but acting like TTLs weren't good (after series 3) FOR THE TIME is just silly.

Looks at sign up date... Makes sense. I would like to see the sales in Basics from before the change to now, though. I’d imagine sales have decreased. I never collected basics outside the female figures before they made the chest change (was basically getting elite articulation with no accessories for a basic price). I can admit the face scans have overall gotten better

A Jakks TTL figure could be freely moved around. A basic today is so stiff it almost takes effort to move around.

You obviously don’t know anatomy either, because the arms do rotate at the elbow as well. I’ll use the same example I used when this change was first put into effect. Place your arm at your side and bend your elbow to make a 90 degree angle. Now start rotating your elbow side to side without moving your bicep. If your bicep moved, you’ll understand why this basic articulation sucks. If your bicep didn’t move, you need to get your eyes checked. We had this same argument when they were originally released. Muscles don’t rotate. The joints cause all rotation. The shoulder controls the basic movement of the arm as a whole, the elbow joint rotates everything below as well as any ligaments attached to muscles above it. You can rotate your elbow without the top of your arm moving. Plus, the new elbow articulation makes it easier to do so much more... As pj proved with comparison pics the last time this came up It’s more than just “your shoulder does it all” It’s a system of muscles and joints and much more complicated than they can replicate on a figure
